Ridley’s Believe It Or Not For July 7, 2018 Secretary of State Mike Pompeo is in North Korea in discussions with Kim Jong Un over North Korea’s commitment to denuclearize amid growing fears that the Hermit Kingdom is backing away from its commitment to denuclearize; speculation that Trump has selected Amy Barrett as his choice to succeed Justice Kennedy as Orin Hatch in writing an Op-Ed used a female pronoun to describe an anticipated leftist meltdown against her; in another glaring example of the severity of the opioid crisis that is plaguing the nation, researchers have found in mussels at 18 residential locations in Puget Sound trace amounts of opioids (another reason to build a wall to assist in the stopping the flow of drugs); in another example of intolerance and divisiveness that is plaguing our nation, a Florida homeowner was assaulted by an outraged anti-Trumpster for displaying a pro Trump flag on his front lawn; on the Thai soccer team rescue front, the area near the cave is being pelted with monsoon rains; in Tennessee a white female property manager is out of a job for calling police on a man wearing socks on the 4th of July in an apartment complex pool, recorded on cell phone video which went viral; thousands of protestors were marching in Chicago against the gun violence that has plagued the city while its Mayor has been MIA on the issue; on the bovine versus human front one person was gored and three trampled on the first running of the bulls of the year in Pamplona, Spain; Wal-Mart has pulled its “Impeach 45” clothing line from its website after conservatives started a boycott Wal-Mart movement; Mark Zuckerburg has replaced Warren Buffet as the third richest man on the planet; in Chicago through July 6, 2018, 1435 people mostly of color have been shot by mostly people of color, of whom 223 have died (when will Chicago get serious about this carnage or is this the case of true racism as a Blue run city turns a deaf ear and a blind eye to the slaughter of people of color by people of color?).

5. A Starr Is Born—celebrating the birth on this day in 1940 of Richard Starkey better known to his fans as Ringo Starr, drummer of the Beatles who has successfully battled alcoholism with his second wife Barbara Bach.

a. 1958 President Dwight Eisenhower signed into law the Alaska Statehood Act.
b. 1981 President Reagan appointed Sandra Day O’Connor to be the first female Justice of SCOTUS.
c. 1992 the New York Court of Appeals ruled that women had the same right as men to go topless in public.
d. 2005 four Islamist suicide bomber detonated four bombs, three of which exploded in the London Underground and the fourth on a London double decker bus, killing 52 and wounding more that 700 people.
e. 2016 former Army vet Micah Johnson shot 12 Dallas Police officers, killing 5 of them before he was killed by a bomb delivered by a robot.
