September 29, 2017 Ridley's Believe It Or Not World Heart Day

Ridley’s Believe It Or Not For September 29, 2017 Finally the word must be getting out to the NFL and Goodell that ratings are taking a nose dive as all the players at last night’s Thursday Night Football stood during the playing of the National Anthem (we may have major problems still in this country that merit discussion and serious attempts to resolve but kneeling is counterproductive unless the kneeling was a sign of prayer seeking God’s help for guidance in helping solve those problems); to long periods of cheers and applause, Scalise returned to the House to address it after being shot months ago at a baseball practice for the annual House charity baseball event (if only that bipartisan outpouring could continue but already Schumer and Pelosi merit nothing but scorn for their rabid obstructionism on Trump’s tax cut agenda); on the propaganda front North Korea alleged that 5,000,000 robitons have volunteered to join the army in response to Trump’s threat to destroy the country (would not surprise me since easily millions are starving and being in the army is the only way to get a meal); after a federal appellate court upheld a district court’s ruling that the Swamp’s ban on concealed weapons unless the applicant could show good reason for a permit was unconstitutional the issue may be going before SCOTUS; king and queen of hypocrisy Schumer and Pelosi are railing that cutting taxes will ramp up the deficit after 8 years of Obama’s doubling of the national debt without ever achieving 3 percent growth, first time in history that that has occurred; a silver lining in the Trump tax plan is the removal of the deduction for state and local taxes which may cause taxpayers in high tax fiefdoms like California, New York, and Illinois to unleash their wrath on Blue legislators and force them to curtail spending; through September 27, 2017 in Chicago the number of people being shot climbed to 2842 and the death toll rising to 488 while the city seems to not be doing anything to prevent the killing and maiming of its minority residents—a real definition of racism which is deadly.
As always, I hope you enjoy today’s holidays and observances, a music link to Diana Ross, factoids of interest for this day in history, a relevant quote by Jan Masaryk on the Munich Agreement, reminded that if you are trolling in a slow moving current you might want to make sure you have packed a killock  and secure in the knowledge that if you want to find a gift for any memorable events like weddings, or anniversaries, you know that the Alaskanpoet can provide you with a unique customized poem at a great price tailored to the event and the recipient. You need only contact me for details.
1World Heart Day—created by the World Heart Federation, a global nongovernment organization, to promote awareness on means to reduce deaths from heart attacks (over 17 million worldwide) and strokes.
2. International Coffee Day—celebrated worldwide to promote the use of coffee as a beverage and to promote fair trade in coffee.
3. 1970 Number One Song— the number one song in 1970 on a run of 3 weeks in that position was “Ain’t No Mountain High Enough” by Diana Ross. Here is a performance of the song: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tjdF7VJSc6U
4. Word of the Day—today’s word of the day is “killock” which means a small anchor which seems to represent what the Congress is using to uselessly try to slow down the ramp up by the ship of state of spending.
5.  Pen Is Mightier Than the Sword But Not Cancer--celebrating the birth on this day in 1955 of Gwen Ifil, noted Black-American Peabody Award winning journalist who died far too early at 61 from cancer.
On this day in:
a. 1938 in a great day for appeasement Germany, France, and Great Britain signed the Munich Agreement ceding the Sudetenland to Germany without Czechoslovakia being a party making Czechoslovakia indefensible to future German attacks and postponing World War II for less than one year.
b. 1954 the convention for establishing CERN to explore the field of high energy particle physics was signed.
c. 1975 WGRP in Detroit became the first black owned and operated T V station.
d. 2008 following the bankruptcies of Lehman Brothers and Washington Mutual, the Dow Jones Average fell 777.68 the largest single day point fall in its history.
e. 2013 in another chilling reminder of the need to kill radical Islam whenever and wherever it rears its sick head, at least 40 people were killed by jihadists from Boko Haram at the College of Agriculture at Gujba, Nigeria.
Reflections on the betrayal of Czechoslovakia by the leader of the nation betrayed: “If you have sacrificed my nation to preserve the peace of the world, I will be the first to applaud you. But if not, gentlemen, God help your souls." Czechoslovakian foreign minister Jan Masaryk to Lord Halifax as reaction to announcement of allies' betrayal in 1938. Please enjoy the poems on events of interest on my twitter account below (if you like them, retweet and follow me) and follow my blogs. September 27, 2017 Ridley's Believe It Or Not World Tourism Day

Ridley’s Believe It Or Not For September 27, 2017 After the Reds under McConnell blew it totally on repeal and replace Obamacare after promising from the day it was passed they would do just that, today the markets are on pins and needles to see what Trump will propose later today and more importantly what inane reflex delusional slams we will see from the Swamp obstructionists led by Chuck and Nancy; despite Trump and Pence campaigning for Strange, Moore waxed him by 10 percentage points; Kim has at least one supported outside of North Korea and that person is Maduro whose socialist programs have bankrupted a once prosperous country and is starving its people but is urging them to prepared for war with the U.S.; Taya Kyle has taken aim at the NFL or the expanding idiocy of protesting racial injustice by refusing to stand during the National Anthem (all these idiots are doing is diverting and postponing any rational discussion on what should be done to improve relations between the black and white community, especially in the area of jobs, education, and criminal justice); through September 25, 2017 in Chicago the number of people being shot climbed to 2821 and the death toll rising to 486 while the city seems to not be doing anything to prevent the killing and maiming of its minority residents—a real definition of racism which is deadly.
As always, I hope you enjoy today’s holidays and observances, a music link to the Archies, factoids of interest for this day in history, a relevant quote by Frans Lanting. on the benefits of tourism, reminded that if there are flash flood warnings, stay away from khors  and secure in the knowledge that if you want to find a gift for any memorable events like weddings, or anniversaries, you know that the Alaskanpoet can provide you with a unique customized poem at a great price tailored to the event and the recipient. You need only contact me for details.
1World Tourism Day—created by UN to promote global tourism as a means of economic development and to create better understanding among the citizens of different countries (last goal may be illusive given the perceived arrogance of wealthy tourists in developing countries and the desecration caused to pristine locations). The theme this year is “Sustainable Tourism” which is probably a euphemism for don’t litter and pick up the trash.
3. 1969 Number One Song— the number one song in 1969 on a run of 4 weeks in that position  was “Sugar, Sugar” by the Archies. Here is a performance of the song: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h9nE2spOw_o
4. Word of the Day—today’s word of the day is “khor” which means a dry watercourse which is something one will not find in Puerto Rico after being hit by two back to back hurricanes.
5.  Let Go to Be Number One--celebrating the birth on this day in 1984 of Canadian born singer and songwriter and lover of tattoos Avril Lavigne who became the youngest female singer at the age of 15 to have a record “Let Go” hit number one on the UK’s top records list.
On this day in:
a. 1954 The Tonight Show hosted by Steve Allen debuted on NBC.
b. 1968 the musical Hair opened at the Shaftesbury Theater in London where it would play for 1998 performances before closing due to a roof collapse in July of 1973.
c. 1962 Rachel Carson published her book Silent Spring detailing the adverse environmental effects of indiscriminate use of pesticides, especially DDT which led to an environmental movement, the ban of DDT in the U,S, and the ultimate formation of the Environmental Protection Agency but sadly curtailed malaria carrying mosquito eradication programs worldwide allowing malaria to remain as one of the leading killers of human beings in developing countries.
d. 1979 in another example of the unchecked growth of the federal government the Department of Education received approval to become the 13th Cabinet, a cabinet which Betsy DeVos is trying to drain today.
e. 1983 Richard Stallman of MIT announced the GNU Project a free Unix-like operating computer system.
Reflections on the benefits of tourism: “Tourism is important because it can create sustainable local economies. I'd much rather have 1,000 tourists going up the Tambopata than 1,000 gold miners.” Frans Lanting noted Dutch photographer specializing in photographing wildlife. Even with all the litter and trash tourists create a far less destructive footprint than miners who take their wealth with them and leave all sorts of tailings and and scars behind. Please enjoy the poems on events of interest on my twitter account below (if you like them, retweet and follow me) and follow my blogs. September 26, 2017 Ridley's Believe It Or Not National Good Neighbor Day

Ridley’s Believe It Or Not For September 26, 2017 NFL ratings are on a downward spiral as more and more fans are upset over a growing number of high paid millionaires refusing to stand for the National Anthem and are either boycotting games or using the most powerful tool known to mankind and the quickest route to an owner’s or TV station’s pocketbook, the channel changer; these are the times to try men’s souls as Trump once again loses focus on economic issues we care about to attack the NFL and Goddell (a total biased wimp who came down like on a pile of bricks on the Cowboys when they wanted to put decals on their helmets to honor the Dallas policemen that were killed trying to protect citizens but turns a blind eye on the refusals to stand for the National Anthem); Giants star and “stellar role model” Beckham’s TD celebration in the end zone sure looks like a dog urinating on Trump; Puerto Rico is in for a very rough time with no power, little fuel and shortages of basic necessities of life much less as a destination for cruise ships; on the sordid sex front 27 year old Kelsey McCarter the wife of a former Tennessee high school coach has pled guilty to six counts of  statutory rape of a 16 year old who played on her husband’s team and will be sentenced to 3 years in prison ( what is with these women? Winter summer relationships are supposed to be between mature women and men in their late 20’s and 30’s not with teenagers); on the lunacy front, North Korea has announced that it will act as if the U.S. had declared war and will shoot down any U.S. planes even if in international waters while there is growing concern that this obese lunatic will launch an ICBM to deliver over the U.S. an EMP which could have disastrous effects on our grid; Trump is meeting with House Ways and Means Committee members to discuss tax cuts (with health care on life support, the Trump agenda is now 0-1 and cannot lose on the issue of tax cuts with no infrastructure bill or building of the Wall other than a highly symbolic 8 mile prototype); great political theater in Alabama as Strange and Moore face off today in the Red primary with Moore in response to his rhetorical question at a campaign speech if he supports the 2nd Amendment  pulled out a pistol to answer in the affirmative; in another example of why Trump is having so much difficulty in draining the Swamp, the head of the Department of Interior came out with an observation that one third of the bureaucrats are disloyal to the Trump agenda; dithrough September 24, 2017 in Chicago the number of people being shot climbed to 2815 and the death toll rising to 485 while the city seems to not be doing anything to prevent the killing and maiming of its minority residents—a real definition of racism which is deadly.
As always, I hope you enjoy today’s holidays and observances, a music link to the Beatles, factoids of interest for this day in history, a relevant quote by Edward B. Rust, Jr. on the characteristics of being a good neighbor on his surgery, wishing the Swamp denizens would observe the keystone of what is needed to effectively govern  and secure in the knowledge that if you want to find a gift for any memorable events like weddings, or anniversaries, you know that the Alaskanpoet can provide you with a unique customized poem at a great price tailored to the event and the recipient. You need only contact me for details.
1National Good Neighbor Day—created by a Senate Resolution introduced by Senator Max Baucus in 2004 to promote awareness of the need to promote and be good neighbors.
2. National Situational Awareness Day—with terrorism on the rise worldwide, more that ever we cannot allow stigma of Islamophobia deter us from being vigilant of events occurring in our surroundings; if you see something suspicious report it to authorities.
3. 1968 Number One Song— the number one song in 1968 on a run of 9 weeks in that position  was “Hey Jude” by the Beatles. Here is a performance of the song:  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A_MjCqQoLLA.
4. Word of the Day—today’s word of the day is “keystone” which means the central core or principal of a policy or or system upon which all else depends like bipartisanship is the keystone of a successful government that is able to address people’s issues which is totally lacking in the Swamp.
5.  Terminator Lady--celebrating the birth on this day in 1956 of Linda Hamilton, famous for her portrayal of Sarah Connor in two Terminator movies; courageous woman to admit on national television that she was bipolar which probably contributed to her three divorces (fortunately for, her third one came wrapped in a $50 million settlement.
On this day in:
a. 1789 the Thomas Jefferson was appointed as the nation’s first Secretary of State.
b. 1905 Albert Einstein published his first paper on the theory of Relativity.

Rust, Jr. former president and chairman of the board of State Farm Insurance which explain’s that company’s slogan, “Like a good neighbor, State Farm is there.”  Please enjoy the poems on events of interest on my twitter account below (if you like them, retweet and follow me) and follow my blogs. September 25, 2017 Ridley'ss Believe It Or Not National Lobster Day

Ridley’s Believe It Or Not For September 25, 2017 When more than ever the Reds need Trump to be engaged on the repeal and replacement of the ACA, he is MIA on a twitter war with the NFL (disgrace, total disgrace); little rocket man from North Korea states the U.S. has declared war on it and it has the right to shoot down American planes even in international waters as the rhetoric war gets worse every day (if we know where Rocket Man is on a daily basis and where his nuclear and ICBM program is why not do a preemptive nuclear strike those facilities and a massive Tomahawk strike on him, his family and his military leadership?); that noted pervert Anthony Weiner has just be sentenced to 21 months in jail for sextexting a minor; as the bill to repeal and replace Obamacare looks like it is head for certain defeat due to Schumer’s lackeys goosestepting for party over nation sadly aided by  RINOs like Collins, Cruz,  Makowski, McCain, and Paul,  some Reds are calling for McCain’s recall—fighting brain cancer should be his priority and spending his remaining time on Earth with his family and friends; NFL players who want to not stand is part of their 1st Amendment rights just as fans can exercise their 1st Wallet rights and boycott games and watching them on TV through September 24, 2017 in Chicago the number of people being shot climbed to 2805 and the death toll standing at 480 while the city seems to not be doing anything to prevent the killing and maiming of its minority residents—a real definition of racism which is deadly.
As always, I hope you enjoy today’s holidays and observances, a music link to the Box Tops, factoids of interest for this day in history, a relevant quote by Tommy John on his surgery, happy your faults are not kenspeckle  and secure in the knowledge that if you want to find a gift for any memorable events like weddings, or anniversaries, you know that the Alaskanpoet can provide you with a unique customized poem at a great price tailored to the event and the recipient. You need only contact me for details.
1International Ataxia Awareness Day—created to promote research on the causes and cures for ataxia which affects a person’s balance and coordination.

3. 1967 Number One Song— the number one song in 1967 on a run of 4 weeks in that position  was “The Letter” by the Box Tops. Here is a performance of the song:  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BQaUs5J2wdI .

Reflections on his operation that saved his career:”  When they operated, I told them to put in a Koufax fastball. They did-but it was Mrs. Koufax's.” Tommy John Please enjoy the poems on events of interest on my twitter account below (if you like them, retweet and follow me) and follow my blogs. September 24. 2017 Ridley's Believe It Or Not World Deaf Day

Ridley’s Believe It Or Not For September 24, 2017  All Stanford needed in destroying UCLA 58-34 at the Farm last night was Love, 263 yards of it, and quarterback Costello who was mobile and accurate, not something out of a “Who’s On First” skit; war of words and rhetoric continue unabated between North Korea and the Trump administration; Trump slammed the growing number of NFL players who are refusing to stand during the National Anthem; Puerto Rico will soon receive $ 1 billion to aid in combating Maria’s damage (a mere drop in the proverbial bucket as the island is trying to cope with loss of power and flooding); Germany is voting today with Merkel expected to win despite growing concern over the 1 million refugees her administration has admitted into the country; through September 22, 2017 2778 people have been shot in Chicago, of whom 478 have died.
As always, I hope you enjoy today’s holidays and observances, a music link to the Association, factoids of interest for this day in history, a relevant quote by Marlee Matlin, looking forward to keeping if unfortunate enough to have it your kenophobia in check, blessed with a positive attitude and secure in the knowledge that if you want to find a gift for any memorable events like birthdays, weddings, or anniversaries, you know that the Alaskanpoet can provide you with a unique customized poem at a great price tailored to the event and the recipient. September 23. 2017 Ridley's Believe It Or Not Teal Talk Day

Ridley’s Believe It Or Not For September 23, 2017 Senator McCain may be an American hero but on the health care front as Obamacare is going down in flames is a total disaster; we all feel for Kimmel due to the health issues faced by his child but we now find out he has been working hand in glove with the chief Swamp denizen Chuck Schumer for talking points to attack Trump’s efforts to repeal and replace Obamacare; Trump at a rally for Strange threw the gauntlet down on those overpaid NFL players taking a knee on the playing of the national anthem urging owners to fire anyone who participates in that practice; on the doomsday front, Christian wacko writer Meade has retracted his statement that the world will end today which is a good thing as UCLA fans will want to be around to witness after 9 failed attempts in a row a victory over Stanford in Palo Alto; the death toll in Mexico City from the earthquake has risen to 295; Puerto Rico devastated and without power is facing a new threat as 70,000 people living below a dam which is very close to failing have been ordered to evacuate; Hillary continues on her book tour slamming the president for his tough speech on the Rocket Man oblivious to the fact that a growing number of Americans on both sides of the aisle want her to disappear; through September 21, 2017 in Chicago the number of people being shot climbed to 2789 and the death toll standing at 478 while the city seems to not be doing anything to prevent the killing and maiming of its minority residents—a real definition of racism which is deadly.
As always, I hope you enjoy today’s holidays and observances, a music link to Barry McGuire, factoids of interest for this day in history, a relevant quote by Angelina Jolie on cancer, happy you do not appear to be suffering from kanodoxy  and secure in the knowledge that if you want to find a gift for any memorable events like weddings, or anniversaries, you know that the Alaskanpoet can provide you with a unique customized poem at a great price tailored to the event and the recipient. You need only contact me for details.
1Teal Talk Day—created in 2013 to promote awareness of ovarian cancer that affects almost 250,000 women worldwide annually.
2. National R.E.A.D. in America Day—observed to recognize that reading allows people to accomplish their goals and dreams and encourage people of all ages to read more and often.
3. 1965 Number One Song— the number one song in 1965 on a run of 1 week in that position was “Eve of Destruction” by Barry McGuire. Here is a performance of the song: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qfZVu0alU0I Barry is still avoiding destruction at the ripe old age of 82.
4. Word of the Day—today’s word of the day is “kenodoxy” which is the love of vainglory which our current and past president have in spades and something mere mortals would do well to avoid.
5.  Trane Derailed Too Early--celebrating the birth on this day in 1926 of noted saxophonist John Coltrane who battled drug addiction and alcoholism and blew his last notes far too early at the age of 40 due to liver cancer.
On this day in:
a. 1641 the Merchant Royal laden with 100,000 pounds of gold was lost at sea near Land’s End near Cornwall and despite numerous attempts has never been found.
b. 1889 Nintendo Koppai (now the Nintendo Company) was formed by Yamauchi Fusajiro to produce and market the card game Hanafuda.
c. 1911 Earle Ovington made the first airmail delivery for the U.S. Post Office.
d. 1962 the Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts opened in New York City.
e. 2002 the web browser Mozilla Firefox was introduced.
Reflections on cancer from one very brave and inspirational woman: “I hope that other women can benefit from my experience. Cancer is still a word that strikes fear into people’s hearts, producing a deep sense of powerlessness. But today it is possible to find out through a blood test whether you are highly susceptible to breast and ovarian cancer, and then take action. It is my hope that they, too, will be able to get gene tested, and that if they have a high risk they, too, will know that they have strong options. Life comes with many challenges. The ones that should not scare us are the ones we can take on and take control of.” Angelina Jolie Wise words, wise words indeed from a very courageous woman that Brad Pitt had the idiotic thoughts to cheat on. Please enjoy the poems on events of interest on my twitter account below (if you like them, retweet and follow me) and follow my blogs. September 22, 2017 Ridley's Believe It Or Not World Car Free Day

Ridley’s Believe It Or Not For September 22, 2017  Disturbing news of Gestapo like tactics by the witch hunter in chief Robert Mueller’s team picking the lock on Manafort’s home while the unmaskers in chief Power and Rice are not the subject of any investigation of really outrageous threats to our democratic way of life; Elizabeth Warren who rails against the one percent while  the  affirmative action rules she totally bent by claiming Native American status to jump ahead of the line is now being properly slammed for her hypocrisy of milking the system to rise to the top (will her pathetic attacks on the one percent ever stop?); another example of why the Golden State is misnamed as Curry’s great contract payments run into the Californian tax blood sucking leech (no star athlete should ever agree to play for a California based team given its tax policy and should move to join any citizen outraged by the designation of California as a “Sanctuary State” and move out of this state; the lunatic now known as the “Rocket Man” is threatening to detonate a hydrogen bomb in the Pacific which adds another justification to hammering the nail on his  coffin even if it is a nuclear preemptive strike that eliminates this lunatic and any and all of his supporters or family members; ivy at Harvard seems to find its way into the derriere of the image of Harvard as 150 professors have signed a letter protesting the revocation of fellow status of convicted traitor Manning who should have rotted in prison instead of having a feckless pathetic out going wimp commute his/her sentence (what an absolute crock and why parents should reject sending their kids to this university); with a rogue nation like North Korea, maybe some credence to the Biblical prediction that the world will end tomorrow but this poet is fearful that the only disaster will be that after nine straight losses to the Cardinal, UCLA will prevail on the 23rd; through September 20, 2017 in Chicago the number of people being shot climbed to 2760 and the death toll standing at 476 while the city seems to not be doing anything to prevent the killing and maiming of its minority residents—a real definition of racism which is deadly.
As always, I hope you enjoy today’s holidays and observances, a music link to Roy Orbison, factoids of interest for this day in history, two relevant quotes by Sara Jane Moore on her failed assassination attempt on President Ford, pleased if you are able to avoid the babble of kelter  and secure in the knowledge that if you want to find a gift for any memorable events like weddings, or anniversaries, you know that the Alaskanpoet can provide you with a unique customized poem at a great price tailored to the event and the recipient. You need only contact me for details.

4. Word of the Day—today’s word of the day is “kelter” which means nonsense which is what we have to listen to from most denizens of the Swamp that defies the best efforts of Trump to drain it.
5.  This Jet Takes Off with Great Sounds--celebrating the birth on this day in 1958 of noted rock singer Joan Larkin better known to her fans as Joan Jett; best known for her song “I Love Rock and Roll.”

a. 1692 the last women convicted of witchcraft in Salem, Massachusetts were hanged bringing a very sad part of our history to an end.
b. 1888 the National Geographic was first published.
c. 1927 Jack Dempsey lost the “long count” heavy weight championship match to Gene Tunney.
d. 1975 Sara Jane Moore, a five time divorcee and mother of four children failed in her attempt to assassinate President Ford; after serving 32 years in prison she was paroled.
e. 1993 a barges struck a railway bridge near Mobile, Alabama used by Amtrak’s Sunset Limited causing a derailment that killed 47 passengers and terminated future service of the Sunset Limited from New Orleans to Orlando.
Two reflections from Sara Jane Moore on the dog whistles of hate being blown by the left in reference to our president: “The government had declared war on the left. Nixon's appointment of Ford as Vice President and his resignation making Ford President seemed to be a continuing assault on America.”  “I know now that I was wrong to try. Thank God I didn't succeed. People kept saying he would have to die before I could be released, and I did not want my release from prison to be dependent on somebody, on something happening to somebody else, so I wanted him to live to be 100." Let’s hope the left is moved by the second quote rather than the first. Please enjoy the poems on events of interest on my twitter account below (if you like them, retweet and follow me) and follow my blogs. September 21, 2017 Ridley's Believe It Or Not Autumnal Equinox

Ridley’s Believe It Or Not For September 21, 2017 The death toll in Mexico City from the 7.1 earthquake has soared to at least 245 as first responders and volunteers are frantically trying to save people trapped under massive amounts of rubble from buildings that have collapsed; the obese rocket man will be soon out of fuel if the news from China is correct that the Bank of China has banned all transactions with North Korea (if it follows through the Hermit Kingdom will be toast in less than a month and hopefully the North Korean military will show some balls and execute this madman and dismantle the ICBM and nuclear weapons program); finally with the sanctions imposed by the president of any companies doing business with North Korea, we have a president that is not a feckless Obama wimp and the world is taking notice even though Blues like Hillary and Feinstein are doing the Chicken Little dance over his blunt and forceful talk; Puerto Rico has been totally devastated by Maria with the whole island without power and facing a delay of many months before power is restored; Sessions rightfully blasted California for becoming a sanctuary state compounded by the fact that our leftist AG plans to sue the federal government for moving forward to build the wall (the art of political compromise that the Blues should jump on is repeal and replace Obamacare, tax cuts, infrastructure and the wall in exchange for path to citizenship for DACCA residents); Sanders is ranting over the investigation by the FBI of his wife for bank fraud and his single payer health care plan given the chaos at the VA could be a major hot potato for Blue candidates in 2018 (what about the example of socialism demonstrated in spades in Venezuela or Cuba does this man not understand?); on the perversion front a former Arkansas female high school teacher has been charged with sleeping with 4 students; through September 20, 2017 in Chicago the number of people being shot climbed to 2750 and the death toll standing at 475 after a rare day in which no one died while the city seems to not be doing anything to prevent the killing and maiming of its minority residents—a real definition of racism which is deadly.

1International Day of Peace—created by the UN General Assembly in 1981 and observed since 1982 to promote the pursuit of peace and the cessation of war and violence among nations a cause when it comes to North Korea will be enhanced greatly if China follows through with its pledge to ban all currency dealings with the rogue nation.

4. Word of the Day—today’s word of the day is “kef” which is a state of dreamy or drug induced repose which seems perfect to describe the speeches of many of the diplomats other than Trump at the UN.

c. 1981 Stanford alum Sandra Day O’Connor was unanimously confirmed by the Senate to become the first female justice of SCOTUS.
d. 1996 by overwhelming bipartisan majorities Congress passed the Defense of Marriage Act prohibiting the federal government from recognizing same sex marriages but allowing the states to do so. That allowance turned into a mandate almost 19 years later when SCOTUS ruled that same sex marriages had to be allowed in all fifty states (so much for federalism and the will of the people exercised through their elected officials).
e. 2013 radical Islamists from al-Shabaab in Nairobi, Kenya attacked the Westgate Mall and killed at least 67 people, almost all of whom were non-Muslim, and wounded close to 200. Sadly of the 10-15 killers only 4 had their one way ticket to Paradise punched.
