November 29, 2017 Ridley's Believe It Or Not Throw Out Your Leftovers Day

Ridley’s Believe It Or Not For November 29, 2017 The male reptilian brain’s need to be sated has just claimed another pelt as Matt Lauer of NBC, due to allegations of sexual harassment  that appear to be not an isolated incident, was fired today (Swamp denizens in D.C. that believe you are above the law and have rarely worked in the private sector, take note of how the private sector responds to the heinous acts of sexual harassment and turn your Ethics Committee from the black hole of complicity to a transparent forum to protect staffers who have been abused); Trump in a powerful photo op moment had a photo of Ryan and McConnell meeting with him on the tax cut bill and funding the government and two empty chairs next to him showing that the spoiled brats Pelosi and Schumer were not there; tax cut bill has been moved out of Committee in the Senate and is moving forward (any Blue up for reelection in 2018 who is dumb or partisan enough to vote against it should be hiring a real estate agent to find a good deal in his or her district because you will not be returning to the Swamp); open border advocate Illinois Representative Gutierrez will not be seeking reelection as speculation mounts that he will be running for president (good luck on that Congressman as communities struggle with the influx of illegals and fear for their safety due to MS-13); Trump spoke with the president of China this morning on North Korea that now has an ICBM that will be able to reach any part of the U.S.(time is running out for the obese lunatic to dismantle and destroy his nuclear program or face complete annihilation of his regime); sanity has returned as a federal judge told Leandra English, the deputy director of a rogue agency, the Consumer Protection Agency Bureau created by socialist Elizabeth Warren that is accountable to no one including Congress, that she will not be able to prevent Trump’s  appointee from taking over (thank God another leftist ideologue who has never worked in the private sector and would not understand the needs of business to service consumers if her life depended on it as questions arise on who is funding Leandra English’s pathetic and destructive lawsuit to remain in power and continue to raise havoc on financial institutions); public radio icon Garrison Keillor was just fired by Minnesota Public Radio for “inappropriate behavior”; almost a stuck record or a gruesome  remake of Groundhog Day, Chicago style,  the carnage in Chicago continued unabated with total shootings by mostly minorities against mostly minorities in 2017 through November 28 increasing to 3338  of whom 582 have died while nothing is being done to hinder or prevent the killings of minorities by minorities.
As always, I hope you enjoy today’s holidays and observances, a music link to Post Malone, factoids of interest for this day in history, hoping you have no need for a lapactic today, a relevant quote by Neil Morrissey on leftovers, secure in the knowledge that if you want to find a gift for any memorable events like birthdays, weddings, or anniversaries, you know that the Alaskanpoet can provide you with a unique customized poem at a great price tailored to the event and the recipient. You need only contact me for details.
1. Throw Out Your Leftovers Daythose leftovers from Thanksgiving have been providing breeding grounds for all manner of bacteria and today is the day to move them to the outdoor trash can.
2. International Day of Solidarity with the Palestinian People—created by the UN in 1977 to promote awareness of the need to recognize the rights of Palestinians in a very troubled part of the world where peaceful relations between Arabs and Jews are very difficult to come by.
3. 2017 Number One Song—the number one song in 2017 before we head back in time and on a run of 5 weeks in that position was “Rockstar” by Post Malone. Here is a recording of the song: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4GFAZBKZVJY
4. Word of the Day—today’s word of the day is “lapactic” which means a purgative or laxative which hopefully is not needed today because you have drunk a lot of water.
5. So Typical of the Swamp—celebrating or bemoaning the birth on this day in 1908 depending on your point of view of the poster child of why we need term limits in Congress of Adam Clayton Powell, the first African American Representative from the State of New York who served in Congress for 26 years but in the end proving that power from safe districts corrupts as he toward the end of his career was soaking taxpayers by taking extravagant trips overseas and having his ex-wife on the payroll for years although she lived in Puerto Rico and did no work whatsoever.
     On this day in:
a. 1952 Dwight Eisenhower fulfilled a campaign promise by flying to South Korea after his election as president to see what could be done to end the hostilities there.
b. 1963 President Johnson created the Warren Commission to investigate the assassination of President Kennedy; many but not all of its findings and documents were recently released to the public.
c. 1967 Robert McNamara one of the architects of the failed strategies of the Vietnam War resigned as Secretary of Defense in time to not be so employed when the North and Viet Cong launched the Tet Offensive in 1968 which caught us completely by surprise.
d. 1972 Atari released Pong, the first successful video game (compared to today’s video games it seems so simplistic and primitive).
e. 1987 two North Korean agents acting under orders from the father of the obese lunatic that is hell bent on being destroyed by U.S. nuclear weapons planted a bomb on Korean Air Flight 858, deplaned at the flight’s first stop and the bomb was not discovered until it exploded en route to its second stop, killing all passengers and crew.
Reflections on leftovers before you throw them out today: “I love cooking and eating - I'm a total foodie. It started off as a survival thing as a student, when cheese and potato pie was all I could afford to make. My most successful results come from concocting something with leftovers. Any chef will tell you that you should taste as you cook, so I might make it a bit more spicy, yogurty or eggy.” Neil Morrissey, noted English actor Please enjoy the poems on events of interest on my twitter account below (if you like them, retweet and follow me) and follow my blogs. November 28, 2017 Ridley's Believe It Or Not Giving Tuesday

Ridley’s Believe It Or Not For November 28, 2017 Schumer and Pelosi are acting like spoiled children and canceled a scheduled meeting with the president along with McConnell and Ryan to discuss tax cuts and keeping the government open (totally pathetic Chuck and Nancy, totally pathetic; when will you start earning your pay by compromising and seeking common ground as opposed to our way or the highway?); Elizabeth Warren is on the warpath, literally and figuratively, over the theater at the Consumer Finance Protection Agency that has two dueling heads, one appointed by Trump and the other named as a deputy head by the resigning head appointed by Obama and the press is on the warpath over Trump’s label of Pocahontas for Warren who falsely claimed Indian heritage to obtain a teaching job at Harvard; MSM is on a a frenzy to dish FLOTUS over her taste in dress and Christmas decorations at the White House which this poet believes both  are stunning (you be the judge: http://www.foxnews.com/lifestyle/2017/11/28/first-lady-melania-trump-trolled-over-white-house-christmas-decorations-outfit.html); the Rocket Man is at it again with another ballistic missile launch over the Sea of Japan—when does the president and the Pentagon wake up to the reality that China is going to do squat against the rogue regime and we are going to be forced to launch a preemptive strike with all weapons including nuclear to eliminate this obese lunatic and his entire family followed by an opening of the border to allow anyone who wanted to migrate into South Korea to do so; on the sexual relations front former Hiawatha High School biology teacher Gabrielle Bauman pleaded no contest in her six month birds and the bees extracurricular romp with one of her minor students,  another staffer of Conyers has come forward to detail his sexual abuse, and 180 women have come forward to complain of being sexual abused by massagers with evidently large, active reptilian brains at Massage Envy, a national chain of massage parlors; on the good news Christmas Spirit front and so appropriate to report on this Giving Tuesday, while most Black Friday shoppers were fighting over vanishing stock of bargain priced goods, a Good Samaritan in Cherry Hills, New Jersey known only as Charlie K, wrote a check for $10,732 to pay off the balance due on 62 lay-away orders; almost a stuck record or a gruesome  remake of Groundhog Day, Chicago style,  the carnage in Chicago continued unabated with total shootings by mostly minorities against mostly minorities in 2017 through November 27 increasing to 3333  of whom 581 have died while nothing is being done to hinder or prevent the killings of minorities by minorities.
As always, I hope you enjoy today’s holidays and observances, a music link to Rae Sremunnd, factoids of interest for this day in history, hoping you leave any Laodician attitudes at home in trying to face issues that many confront you, a relevant quote by Oprah Winfrey on giving, secure in the knowledge that if you want to find a gift for any memorable events like birthdays, weddings, or anniversaries, you know that the Alaskanpoet can provide you with a unique customized poem at a great price tailored to the event and the recipient. You need only contact me for details.
1. Giving Tuesdaycelebrated first at the Belfer Center for Innovation and Social Impact at the 92nd Street Y in New York City in 2012 and supported by such philanthropic organizations as the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation as a way the survivors of the orgy of Black Friday, Small Business Saturday and Cyber Monday can atone for their gluttony by giving money, gifts and their time to those less fortunate.
2. Turkey Leftover Day—since tomorrow is Throw Out Leftovers Day, today is appropriately the last day to celebrate this observance by serving up what turkey remains from one’s Thanksgiving Day meal.
       3. 2016 Number One Song—the number one song in 2016 on a run of 7 weeks in that position was “Black Beatles” by Rae Sremmund. Here is a recording of the song: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b8m9zhNAgKs
4. Word of the Day—today’s word of the day is “Laodician” which means lukewarm or halfhearted which when it comes to attacking Trump the MSM is anything but Laodician.
5. Rice Had Too Much Spice—celebrating the birth on this day in 1936 of former Senator Gary Hart who managed George McGovern’s disastrous campaign against Richard Nixon and so emboldened ran for the Democratic nomination for president against Walter Mondale only to be sabotaged by his reptilian brain with rumors of an affair with Donna Rice which ended his candidacy.
On this day in:
         a. 1942 in the deadliest nightclub fire in our history the Coconut Grove in Boston caught fire killing 492 patrons and employees (32 more than the authorized capacity of the building) and injuring 100’s more; the owner of the club Barney Welansksy notorious for bricking up and hiding exits to prevent people from leaving without paying was charged with numerous code violations and 19 counts of manslaughter, convicted, and sentenced to 12-15 years in prison and then pardoned after serving 4 years; on his release, suffering from cancer, he told reporters that he wished he had died with the 492 victims, which he did 9 weeks later due to the spreading cancer.
b. 1964 members of the National Security Council met with President Johnson to recommend a two stage plan for escalating the bombing of North Vietnam that never achieved the objective of blocking the flow of men and material into South Vietnam or forcing the North to come to the peace talks table but did achieve the goal of having the Hanoi Hilton and ten other prisons achieve 100 percent occupancy.
c. 1972 Claude Buffet and Roger Bontems had the dubious distinction of being the last persons executed in France by being guillotined at the La Sante Prison in Paris.
d. 1989 in the face of growing protests the Communist Party of Czechoslovakia announced it was giving up its political monopoly in the country.
e. 1990 the Iron Lady Margaret Thatcher announced her resignation as the head of the Conservative Party and as Prime Minister to be replaced by John Major.
Reflections on why Giving Tuesday should be a daily regime throughout the year: “To move forward, you have to give back.” Oprah Winfrey. So very true as none of us are Pharoahs with all our possessions taken to the grave with us. Please enjoy the poems on events of interest on my twitter account below (if you like them, retweet and follow me) and follow my blogs. November 27, 2017 Ridley's Believe It Or Not Cyber Monday

Ridley’s Believe It Or Not For November 27, 2017 Brace yourself and your wallet having survived Black Friday and Small Business Saturday, today is Cyber Monday as internet shopping is on a roll; Mt. Agung in Bali erupted again on Saturday which has prompted authorities to warn residents to flee as a larger eruption with lava flows is a growing concern; although Conyers has resigned his minority chairmanship of the House Judiciary Committee, the Congressional Bobsey twins of sexual abuse, Conyers and Franken, are refusing to resign (so typical of the Swamp); hopefully Santa was not looking to stock up on reindeer for Christmas in Norway as tragically 106 of the animals were killed in a collision with a freight train while migrating;  the Consumer Finance Protection Agency attacked by banks and financial agencies as an oppressive rogue agency with no Congressional oversight is in the litigation docket news today as Obama appointee Corday appointed English, a Democrat, as his deputy director and then resigned thwarted by Trump by naming Mick Mulvaney as interim director and prompting a law suit by English to block the appointment (God help us if bureaucrats can scam the powers of the duly elected commander in chief by appointing their successor—just another example of why Trump needs to tweet less and concentrate more on removing from office Obama appointed lackeys); Senator Claire McCaskill after being castigated for charging taxpayers for her use of a private plane had her husband sell it but when it comes to fleecing the taxpayers, her husband purchased a more expensive private plane and immediately moved to block tracking of its use by the public under moves made by Obama to remove as a requirement the credible threat of a terrorist attack on the plane (watch this issue dog this Senator in her reelection fight in 2018 as it should); the sexual abuse scandals continue unabated and claim the latest perpetrator Richard Branson who is alleged to have stuck his head between two breast of a singer partying on his private island and motorboating them; Trump is meeting with the four leaders of Congress including the Blues top Grinches on the issue of tax cuts before Christmas and not shutting the government down; on the over the top dog whistle rhetoric that really needs to end, Morrisey was ranting that if he had the chance he would “kill Trump for the sake of humanity” (those of us who bemoan the rancor from leftists idiots like Morrisey should boycott all of his records and any advertisers who place ads on any performance in which this loose cannon appears and urge the Secret Service pay him a visit on the issue of inciting an assassination of the president); almost a stuck record or a gruesome  remake of Groundhog Day, Chicago style,  the carnage in Chicago continued unabated with total shootings by mostly minorities against mostly minorities in 2017 through November 25 increasing to 3319  of whom 579 have died while nothing is being done to hinder or prevent the killings of minorities by minorities.
As always, I hope you enjoy today’s holidays and observances, a music link to Adele, factoids of interest for this day in history, hoping you can find a cure to the growing languor of the Swamp gridlock, a relevant anonymous quote on shopping, secure in the knowledge that if you want to find a gift for any memorable events like birthdays, weddings, or anniversaries, you know that the Alaskanpoet can provide you with a unique customized poem at a great price tailored to the event and the recipient. You need only contact me for details.
1. Cyber Mondaycelebrating the growing importance to a retailer’s bottom line of on line sales which continue to expand as the number of brick and mortar retail outlets continues to decrease due to closures or bankruptcies.
2. National Four Hugs Day—today is the day to find four souls who could use the warmth of a caring and spirit uplifting hug although why only four is a mystery unsolved by this poet.
       3. 2015 Number One Song—the number one song in 2015 on a run of 10 weeks in that position was “Hello” by Adele. Here is a recording of the song: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YQHsXMglC9A
4. Word of the Day—today’s word of the day is “languor” which means listlessness or weariness which is what more and more Americans are feeling about the gridlock that grips the Swamp.
         5. Pen Is Mightier Than the Sword But Not the Cigarette—celebrating the birth on this day in 1909 of James Agee, film critic for Time Magazine, screen play writer for the African Queen, and Pulitzer Prize winner for his autobiography A Death in the Family (awarded posthumously as he was a heavy drinker and chain smoker and died at the age of 45 ironically in a cab enroute to a doctor’s appointment.)
On this day in:
         a. 1835 John Smith and James Pratt had the dubious distinction of being the last persons to be executed by hanging for the then crime of sodomy.

November 24, 2017 Ridley's Believe It Or Not Black Friday

Ridley’s Believe It Or Not For November 24, 2017 Retailers have fingers crossed on Black Friday (the day that the cumulative losses suffered by retailers during the course of the year have turned positive at the end of Black Friday which started at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday evening) as shoppers with bellies full of turkey skipped the sofa and charged into the big box stores credit cards ready; in another bloody reminder that Muslims are more likely than not to be the victims of Radical Islam, jihadists attacked a mosque in Northeastern Egypt, killing at least 235 worshippers during evening prayers; WaPo reporter Janelle Ross secretly attended and spoke at a Democracy Alliance meeting in California on how to get the alt-left’s economic narrative right and in so doing proved what we have known all along that she along with most of her colleagues have not an objective bone in their leftist bodies (the group is funded by billionaire alt left supporter George Soros who at 87 hopefully will not be on this planet much longer to sponsor his alt-left dribble that has driven countries like Venezuela to the brink of chaos and bankruptcy); Seattle’s income tax on the wealthy residents of Seattle has been struck down by a Superior Court Judge but the city instead of seeing how it can reduce spending will appeal (if successful watch the high earners voting with their feet and moving out of Seattle); Kaepernick who reportedly has a book deal for a million dollars led an Unthanksgiving day at Alcatraz (why he is not grateful for that remains a mystery other than the fact his protest has nothing with racial injustice but rather to impress his leftist Muslim girlfriend whose racist tweet comparing the owner of the Ravens to a plantation owner sank discussion with the Ravens on signing him); possible trouble for Trump on the Mueller witch-hunt front as Flynn’s legal team has ceased cooperating with Trump’s legal team but is now cooperating with Mueller; finally some great news that reveals the charitable nature of the American people—a homeless Marine Corps vet with only $20 to his name gave it to a stranded women who had run out of gas (the woman and her boyfriend created a Go Fund Me account with a goal of raising $10,000 to help the vet and viewers responded with over $380,000 in contributions—kindness does pay); almost a stuck record or a gruesome  remake of Groundhog Day, Chicago style,  the carnage in Chicago continued unabated with total shootings by mostly minorities against mostly minorities in 2017 through November 23 increasing to 3293  of whom 575 have died while nothing is being done to hinder or prevent the killings of minorities by minorities.
As always, I hope you enjoy today’s holidays and observances, a music link to Taylor Swift, factoids of interest for this day in history, hoping you do not suffer lancinations over the drama in the Swamp, a relevant quote from Lois Kronenberger on the lack of poetry, secure in the knowledge that if you want to find a gift for any memorable events like birthdays, weddings, or anniversaries, you know that the Alaskanpoet can provide you with a unique customized poem at a great price tailored to the event and the recipient. You need only contact me for details.
1. Evolution Day (International)celebrating the publication on this day in 1859 of Darwin’s On Evolution of the Species.
2. Black Friday—the term was first used by the New York Times and for retailers since 2005 the busiest day of the year with people camping out in front of stores awaiting openings and often total pandemonium when the doors open with shoppers racing through the aisles and sometimes fights breaking out over sale items.
       3. 2014 Number One Song—the number one song in 2014 on a run of 7 weeks in that position was “Blank Space” by Taylor Swift. Here is a recording of the song: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e-ORhEE9VVg
4. Word of the Day—today’s word of the day is “lancination” which is a sharp shooting pain which most conservatives feel when ever Nancy Pelosi takes the stage.
         5. Anatomy of a Successful Career—celebrating the birth on this day in 1978 of Katherine Heigl, who started modeling at a very early age and evolved to a very successful child actress and managed to bring the gap between child stars and adult actresses by landing an Emmy winning  role in Grey’s Anatomy.  A mother of three she has successfully balanced the demands of career and being a parent.
On this day in:
        a. 1917 9 members of the Milwaukee Police Department were killed when a bomb believed to have been planted next to a church was discovered and brought to the police station for examination but shortly thereafter exploded; until 9/11 the deaths represented largest number of police killed in any single attack and sadly the perpetrators were never caught.
b. 1932 the FBI crime lab opened in Washington, D.C.
c. 1963 in a really bad day for the Dallas Police Department, on black and white live TV, Lee Harvey Oswald in police custody was shot and killed by Jack Ruby while being transported to an armored car to take him to the county jail.
d. 1971 during a thunderstorm, Dan Cooper aka D.B. Cooper parachuted from the rear entry of a Boeing 727 with $200,000 of ransom money; neither him nor the money was ever seen again.
e. 2013 in perhaps one of the low points in American diplomacy and reflecting American weakness on the world stage, the Iranians signed an agreement with the 5 permanent members of the Security Council plus Germany that lifted the sanctions in existence on Iran due to its illegal nuclear weapons program, an agreement many believe has created a path to deliverable nuclear weapons status by a nation that continues to sponsor terror in the Middle East and continues to assert that Israel be wiped off the face of the Earth.
Reflections on spending during this Black Friday:”The trouble with us in America isn't that the poetry of life has turned to prose, but that it has turned to advertising copy.” ~Louis Kronenberger, noted 20th Century literary critic and author He is right on point as ads have only one purpose, not to inform, entertain, or kindle discussion but rather to induce someone to buy something not needed and at a price one cannot afford.   Please enjoy the poems on events of interest on my twitter account below (if you like them, retweet and follow me) and follow my blogs. November 22, 2017 Ridley's Believe It Or Not Black Wednesday

Ridley’s Believe It Or Not For November 22, 2017 The sexual abuse scandal in the Swamp has infected both Reds and Blues and is growing like a cancer with John Conyers, long term high ranking Blue of the House Judiciary the target of sexual harassment claims brought by a female staffer and secretly settled at taxpayer expense and reported as severance pay and Texas Red Representative Bob Barton’s nude photo and lewd message going viral, prompting in Conyer’s case demands by the press he resign (we may be a nation of laws but not in the minds of many legislators that write the laws that either exempt them or they feel that they do not apply to them) and in Barton’s case an apology; Sessions has announced that so far this year 1200 MS-13 gang members have been convicted and 4000 arrested (just another reason to build the wall, increase border patrol agents and end the nonsense of sanctuary cities); the Black Caucus is trying to do something positive by having its members attend two days of training on sexual abuse (contrast that with the idiotic tweet by Teen Vogue columnist Emily Lindin who asserted that false claims causing men to lose their jobs is a price she will accept); the Cack ”News” Network is living up to its reputation as one of its columnists Dylan Byers bemoaned in a tweet that the accusations of sexual abuse are causing a drain of talent in the entertainment and media (sounds like he believes that only perverts like Weinstein can be creative and that people with morals who respect women have not a creative bone in their body—such BS); on this Thanksgiving Eve to on Thanksgiving to celebrate and hopefully share the material and spiritual bounty of this great land I hope you enjoy and share my annual Thanksgiving Day Poem at your dinner table http://alaskanpoet.blogspot.com/2017/11/thanksgiving-feast-2017.html; the fallout from the spiking of the Weinstein Sex Scandal continues for Nothing But Cack “News" as CNN’s top investigative reporter Ronan Barrow who broke the Weinstein story is rumored to be in talks with ABC (Also Biased Cack); like almost a stuck record or a gruesome  remake of Groundhog Day, Chicago style,  the carnage in Chicago continued unabated with total shootings by mostly minorities against mostly minorities in 2017 through November 19 increasing to 3282  of whom 573 have died while nothing is being done to hinder or prevent the killings of minorities by minorities.
As always, I hope you enjoy today’s holidays and observances, a music link to the Taylor Swift, factoids of interest for this day in history, comforted by the fact that your sweater is a lanate one, a relevant quote from Sarah Hepola on blackout drinking, secure in the knowledge that if you want to find a gift for any memorable events like birthdays, weddings, or anniversaries, you know that the Alaskanpoet can provide you with a unique customized poem at a great price tailored to the event and the recipient. You need only contact me for details.
1. Blackout Wednesdaycelebrated by mostly college students returning from college to spend Thanksgiving with their parents to get together with friends in their home town and engage in a “little” partying.
       2. Humane Society Anniversary Day—celebrating an animal’s best friend the Humane Society which was founded on Wednesday November 24, 1954.
       3. 2014 Number One Song—the number one song in 2014 on a run of 4 weeks in that position was “Shake It Off” by Taylor Swift. Here is a recording of the song: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nfWlot6h_JM
4. Word of the Day—today’s word of the day is “lanate” which means wooly which should describe the sweater you are wearing on a cold day.
         5. Good Reason to Take Up Yoga When Not Skiing—celebrating the birth on this day in 1961 of Mariel Hemingway, noted actress and granddaughter of Ernest Hemingway who also owns a yoga studio in Sun Valley.
On this day in:
         a. 1869 the clipper Cutty Sark, one of the last clipper ships ever built and the only one still surviving today was launched from Dumbarton, Scotland, its image forever immortalized on the label of Cutty Sark Scotch.
          b. 1935 the China Clipper launched trans-Pacific service between Alameda, California and Manila, Philippines for approximately $700 for a one way fare ($12,612 in today’s dollars).
        c. 1963 President Kennedy was assassinated in Dallas, Texas in an open limousine and Texas Governor John Connolly wounded.
d. 1995 the first animated movie completely created by computers, Toy Story, was released.
e. 2002 religious zealots rioted over  a Nigerian newspaper editorializing that Muhammad if he were alive would have selected one of his many wives as a winner in the  Miss World Contest being held in Nigeria, killing some 200 people.
Reflections on this Blackout Wednesday why blackout drinking is not a good idea: ““Addiction was the inverse of honest work. It was everything, right now. I drank away nervousness, and I drank away boredom, and I needed to build a new tolerance. Yes to discomfort, yes to frustration, yes to failure, because it meant I was getting stronger. I refused to be the person who only played games she could win.” Sarah Hepola Blackout: Remembering the Things I Drank to Forget.”
Only problem in addition to the obvious that a blackout drinker is a threat to him or herself and any person on the same road is that the problems one tries to forget are waiting for you on steroids when you wake up.

November 21, 2017 Ridley's Believe It Or Not World Television Day

Ridley’s Believe It Or Not For November 21, 2017 The number of exposed reptilian brains keep expanding, the latest ones being long time host on CBS, PBS and Bloomberg, Charlie Rose who in his 70’s really should know better as woman victim after woman victim comes out to expose his sexual harassment with the cancellation of all his shows and Glenn Thrush, noted anti-Trump reporter for the NYT, who has been suspended when 4 women victims of his sexual harassment came out to accuse him; in California the Assembly Majority Whip, Raul Bocanegra, confronted by a colleague’s allegations of sexual misconduct is stepping down from his post and will not run for reelection; hopefully he will be joined by Al Franken who should resign following a second woman’s allegation of being sexually fondled by him; since we are nearing Thanksgiving Kim is aping the Pilgrims by banning his citizens joining together  for drinking, singing and other entertainment activities (how North Koreans survive life in the Hermit Kingdom  under his despotic rule defies understanding; that darling of the far left federal judge has flexed his muscles and banned Trump from cutting off funding to lawless sanctuary cities (but no complaints when the Department of Transportation years ago cut off federal funding to states that did not up the drinking age to 21 or impose during the fuel crisis in the 70’s a maximum speed limit) which judicial overreach will be heading to the left leaning 9th Circuit and then to SCOTUS who should strike down the ban with a stern reprimand to Judge Orrick; on the terror front the U.S. is following the adage of “follow the money” and is launching air strikes in Afghanistan destroying drug production facilities used by the Taliban to create heroin to fund their operations and the DHS has warned the drones like cars, vans and trucks can be used by terrorists to kill and maim; if a “you can run but you cannot hide moment” Rahmael Holt, the suspect who fatally shot a Pennsylvania police officer during a traffic stop—talk about a poster child mug shot for the death penalty swiftly if he is convicted:

;almost a stuck record or a gruesome  remake of Groundhog Day, Chicago style,  the carnage in Chicago continued unabated with total shootings by mostly minorities against mostly minorities in 2017 through November 19 increasing to 3278  of whom 572 (in what has to be a record no one on the 17th, the 18th or the 19th) have died while nothing is being done to hinder or prevent the killings of minorities by minorities.
As always, I hope you enjoy today’s holidays and observances, a music link to the Royals, factoids of interest for this day in history, hoping you have time to relax on a lanai at some point of time today, a relevant quote from Goldie Hawn on success and loving oneself, secure in the knowledge that if you want to find a gift for any memorable events like birthdays, weddings, or anniversaries, you know that the Alaskanpoet can provide you with a unique customized poem at a great price tailored to the event and the recipient. You need only contact me for details.
1. World Television Daycreated by the United Nations’ General Assembly to celebrate the impact of TV on society; why this media is celebrated when the great percentage of the planet has no access to it and most of its programming remains in the words of Newton Minnow “the great wasteland” is another great mystery.
      2. Red Mitten Day (Canada)—created before the Winter Olympics held in Vancouver, Canada on November 21, 2010 to raise money for the Canadian Olympic Team through the sale of red mittens and the donations of charitable foundation like the Hudson Bay Foundation and has raised millions in that regard.
        3. 2013 Number One Song—the number one song in 2013 on a run of 9 weeks in that position was “Lorde” by the Royals. Here is a recording of the song: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nlcIKh6sBtc
4. Word of the Day—today’s word of the day is “lanai” which is a private balcony in a hotel room or residence and usually found in most structures in Hawaii.
       5. Sock It To Me—celebrating the birth on this day in 1945 of Goldie Hawn introduced to the public in the comedy series Laugh In who went on to the Silver Screen as a director and actress to garner a Best Actress Oscar and be nominated for another; long time partner with Kurt Russell and mother of one child with him with a smile and laugh that could turn the night into the dawn.
On this day in:
       a. 1967 in one of the more blatant snow jobs during the Vietnam War General Westmoreland told the American public that we were winning the war only to see the falsity of that statement explode in his face when during Tet in 1968 the Viet Cong and the NVA launched a country wide attack on South Vietnam’s towns and cities, including Saigon and Hue.
        b. 1969 the first ARPANET link was established between computers in UCLS and the Stanford Research Institute.
          c. 1985 in a if you can’t trust your allies who can you trust, Navy Intelligence officer Jason Pollard was caught spying for Israel and sentenced to life in prison to be release on parole in 2015.
 d. 1985 in a moment that Hillary remembered well Oliver North and his secretary started shredding documents relating to the Iran-Contra Scandal that came very close to having Reagan impeached (probably where she got the idea to bleach bot her private servers).
 e. 2015 in an it almost seems like yesterday moment, Belgium put a very large part of Brussels under lock down, fearing a terrorist attack.
Reflections on success by the birthday girl turning 72 today: “Whether you're successful or not, you'll never actually feel the joys of accomplishment unless you love yourself. Success can be very difficult to deal with. You have to stay in the center. If you let your success define you, then you're really just setting yourself up for failure.” Goldie Hawn Truer words have rarely been spoken since I at the core if one does not love oneself why should anyone else? Please enjoy the poems on events of interest on my twitter account below (if you like them, retweet and follow me) and follow my blogs. November 20, 2017 Ridley's Believe It Or Not Africa Industrialization Day

Ridley’s Believe It Or Not For November 20, 2017 The world has one less scumbag to deal with as Charles Manson who has rotted in prison since his conviction for the Tate-La Bianca Murders died yesterday in prison; just when you thought the idiocy of NFL players kneeling during the National Anthem was over think again as Raider Lynch kneeled for the U.S. National Anthem but stood for the playing of Mexico's National Anthem (what about the thousands of innocent Mexicans slaughtered by the drug cartels and the rampant corruption in Mexico does this well paid athlete not understand); on the political front, Merkel’s attempts to form a coalition government have collapsed and Germany may be facing a snap election to remedy the problem (Merkel may be a smart woman but he decisions to open Germany’s borders to unvetted refugees from the Middle East is a major error); and Mugabe’s time has run out as his party throws the gauntlet to resign by Monday or be impeached (too much corruption even for a continent where corruption is the rule not the exception; our border with Mexico in addition to being porous is a dangerous place as a Border Patrol agent Rogolia Martinez was shot and killed and his partner seriously wounded in the Big Bend Park section of Texas (another reason why we need the Wall as the scumbag or scumbags committing the act were most likely cartel members smuggling drugs into the country); two perverts one in the Senate (Franken) and the other trying to become one (Moore) are telling the outraged American public and the Senate to in essence pound sand; we all know that texting or operating a cell phone while driving can be dangerous but for 18 year old Alexis Butler so is driving while taking a breath analyzer as she was killed in Arlington, Texas while backing out of her driveway by a non impaired driver doing just that; UCLA has chimed in on the arrest and subsequent release of three of its basketball players for shoplifting in China by suspending them from the team; almost a stuck record or a gruesome  remake of Groundhog Day, Chicago style,  the carnage in Chicago continued unabated with total shootings by mostly minorities against mostly minorities in 2017 through November 18 increasing to 3271  of whom 571 (in what has to be a record no one on the 17th or the 18th died) have died while nothing is being done to hinder or prevent the killings of minorities by minorities.
As always, I hope you enjoy today’s holidays and observances, a music link to Maroon 5, factoids of interest for this day in history, hoping you encounter lamprophony if listening to a speech or lecture, a relevant quote from Judge Greene on the consent decree ultimately entered in the AT&T antitrust litigation, secure in the knowledge that if you want to find a gift for any memorable events like birthdays, weddings, or anniversaries, you know that the Alaskanpoet can provide you with a unique customized poem at a great price tailored to the event and the recipient. You need only contact me for details.
1. Universal Children’s Daycreated by the United Kingdom in 1954 to promote better understanding among the children of the world and to promote programs and policies for the benefit of all children on this planet.
         2. Africa Industrialization Day—created by UN General Assembly to promote awareness of the need of Africa to industrialize and promote programs and policies that will promote effective industrialization.
         3. 2012 Number One Song—the number one song in 2012 on a run of 9 weeks in that position was “One More Night” by Maroon 5. Here is a recording of the song: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fwK7ggA3-bU
4. Word of the Day—today’s word of the day is “lamprophony” which means to speak loudly in clear tones which baby boomers appreciate as they age and their hearing gets worse especially if they went to a lot of rock concerts in the 60’s.
         5. Runner Up In Only a Few Years Not Bad—celebrating the birth on this day in 1946 of Duane Allman, noted singer and guitarist for the Allman Brothers Band and ranked by Rolling Stone Magazine as number 2 in its list of top 100 guitarists, second only to Jimmy Hendrix who way too soon died on October 29, 1971 following the release of the band’s successful album At Filmore East.
On this day in:
           a. 1962 in a step back from the brink of nuclear war in response to the Soviet’s agreement to remove its nuclear missiles from Cuba, President Kennedy ended the quarantine of Cuba and secretly agreed to remove from Turkey medium range Jupiter missiles that had been installed in 1959.
           b. 1969 the Cleveland Plain Dealer published graphic photos of the men, women and children executed by the U.S. Army at Mai Lai which accelerated the growing protest of the civilian population to the Vietnam War.
          c. 1974 in another lawyers full employment act (the defendants employed close to 3000 staff and spent close to $400 million in defense of the action), the Department of Justice filed its last antitrust suit against AT&T which led to the breakup of ATT&T and its Bell System.
 d. 1985 Microsoft released Windows 1.0 and the PC revolution was off and running.
 e. 1991 the Senate Ethics Committee (the same one hopefully soon investigating Al Franken for sexual harassment) cited Democratic and four term Senator from California Alan Cranston for improper conduct in his dealings with the head of Lincoln Savings and Loan Charles Keating.
Reflections on the antitrust action against AT&T from the Judge whose rulings gaveled the defendants into a consent decree with the Department of Justice: “Antitrust decrees are not written unlike leases for apartments, on a month-to-month basis. They are written for a long, long, time, typically, particularly a big decree like this. And then to come along and say, a couple of years late, ‘Oops, we made a mistake; let’s forget it’, it’s obviously a change in policy…I’m hopeful that we’re back on an even keel now.” Judge Harold Greene Please enjoy the poems on events of interest on my twitter account below (if you like them, retweet and follow me) and follow my blogs.
