September 11, 2017 Ridley's Believe It Or Not Patriot Day

Ridley’s Believe It Or Not For September 11, 2017 Even if reduced to a Cat 2 Hurricane and this morning reduced to a tropical storm heading out of Florida north, Irma is still deadly and capable of destruction and death as it slammed into Tampa with over half the state of Florida without power and the death toll sure to rise past 5 when responders can begin to move into areas damaged by Irma as police in the state issue warnings against looting;  the nation remembers 9-11 on the 16th day of that deadly, cowardly attack on our soil that killed 2996 Americans and citizens of numerous other countries, truly an attack on the world by radical Islam; Antifa turned what was supposed to be a peaceful demonstration against white supremacy into a mini riot throwing projectiles and smoke bombs against police resulting in 7 of these anarchist thugs being arrested in Portland, Oregon; in another example of why toeing the PC line endangers the lives of law abiding citizens, Portland police are disbanding its decades old practice of creating and maintaining a gang database and designating gang membership for fears it singles out minorities (when you have real heartless killers  like MS-13 roaming our streets why would you not maintain a database—stupid but so typical of the left); Khizr Khan who had his 15 minutes of fame at the DNC in 2016 is back in the news claiming that due to his order on DACCA, President Trump is “uneducated and illiterate” (maybe he ought to reread his pocket Constitution to realize what Obama did was blatantly illegal and unconstitutional); through September 9, 2017 in Chicago the number of people being shot climbed to 2645, and the death toll again on the rise to 454 (9/10 results not posted).
As always, I hope you enjoy today’s holidays and observances, a music link to Les Paul and Mary Ford, factoids of interest for this day in history, a relevant quote on 9-11 by Sandy Dahl, hoping you are free of kainotophobia,  secure in the knowledge that if you want to find a gift for any memorable events like weddings, or anniversaries, you know that the Alaskanpoet can provide you with a unique customized poem at a great price tailored to the event and the recipient. You need only contact me for details.
1Patriot Day—observed since 2002 to commemorate the loss of lives and injuries at the World Trade Center, the Pentagon and in Pennsylvania as a result of four hijacked airliners that crashed deliberately or in the case of the plane crashing in Pennsylvania due to loss of control as the passengers tried to break into the cabin to regain control of the aircraft. http://alaskanpoet.blogspot.com/2017/09/ode-to-mike-kehoe-and-nyfd-on-911.html
2. National Emergency Number Daycreated by Congress and Presidential Proclamation to commemorate the adoption of 9-1-1 as the uniform emergency number in 1968.
3. 1953 Number One Song— the number one song in 1953 on a run of 11 weeks in that position was “Vaya Con Dios” by Les Paul and Mary Ford. Here is a performance of the song: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QqZ0Sdz_V40
4. Word of the Day—today’s word of the day is “kainotophobia” which means a fear of change which Trump sadly is finding to be deeply entrenched in the Swamp denizens as Trump tries to drain it.
5.  A Birthday Present No One Should Ever Have to Receive—celebrating the birth on this day in 1940 of noted lawyer who represented Bush in preserving for him the Electoral College votes of Florida and his election, Ted Olson, who must have watched in horror as the airliner carrying his wife Barbara crashed into the Pentagon, killing all aboard on his 61st birthday.
On this day in:
a. 1922 in Palestine, Jewish farmers created the first moshav called Nahalal as part of a Zionist plan to create a Jewish state.
b. 1941 Charles Lindbergh gave a speech in Des Moines, Iowa alleging that the British, Jews and FDR were pressing for war with Germany.
c. 1950 in a move he would regret in the future as it brought China into Korea, President Truman authorized military force north of the 38th Parallel.
d. 1972 to the joy of commuters stuck in traffic, the Bay Area Rapid Transit System commenced operations.
e. 1989 in a beginning of the end moment for East Germany, Hungary announced that East German refugees housed in temporary camps were allowed to enter West Germany.
Reflections on reflections on 9-11 from the widow of one of the innocent victims:  “If we learn nothing else from this tragedy, we learn that life is short and there is no time for hate.” Sandy Dahl, widow of Flight 93 pilot Jason Dahl, in Shanksville, Pennsylvania, in 2002. Please enjoy the poems on events of interest on my twitter account below (if you like them, retweet and follow me) and follow my blogs.
