September 30, 2020 Ridley's Believe It Or Not Orange Shirt Day

Ridley's Believe It Or Not September 30, 2020
CV World Cases: The CV pandemic across the planet continues with 375,907 new cases (a 1.12%  increase compared to a .64% increase yesterday) to bring the total  over 34 million to 33,688,356, 7,743,572  of  which  are active, 26,320,691 of which have been closed with 25,304,557 recoveries (96.14% compared to  yesterday’s 96.12%) and 1,016,134 deaths (3.86% compared to yesterday’s 3.88%) to continue the trend of increased recovery percentages and decreased mortality percentages.

CV USA Cases: New cases of 132,492 with total cases over 7 million at 7,428,210 (a 1.82% increase compared to yesterday’s 1.10% increase) with 2,542,6600 active cases of which 14,205, on a downward trend with slight blips from a high of 19,155 on July 23  (14,064 yesterday and 15,881 on September 1), are in serious or critical condition as trend continues to go down, and 4,885,550 closures, 211,332 of which have been deaths (4.33% compared to yesterday’s 4.34%) and 4,674,218 of which have been recoveries (95.67% compared to yesterday’s 95.66%) (our death rate percentages continue to improve and are finally in single digits since Cuomo repealed on May 10 his order sending CV positive patients to nursing homes and ADL facilities and on a deaths per million population measurement at 638 ranks behind Peru (979), Belgium (862), Spain (680), Bolivia (677), Brazil (673), Chile (665), and Ecuador (641),  and only slightly worse than UK (620), Mexico (597, Italy (594), and Sweden (584) that never closed its economy down like we did and We have now conducted 106,593,177 tests (now at 321,564/M compared to Russia at 315,176/M so Trump is telling truth that we conduct more tests in number and on a per capital basis for nations (but excluding nations with small populations like Israel and Singapore) but for the U.K. at 360,532/M).

Non CV Case News: The stimulus bill proposed by Pelosi includes stimulus checks for illegal aliens and protections against deportation; the Presidential ad hominem attack chaos is over with Biden passing a very low dementia gaffe bar, refusing to answer whether he would pack the court and end the filibuster, denied he would push for Medicare for all, could not name one police group that supported him and denied that he supported AOC’s Green New Deal and blamed Trump for the CV deaths while between attacking Biden for his son being enriched by foreign powers and his inability to remember where he went to college claimed Biden would shut the country down, that he paid more than $750 in taxes (I hope he is not lying on that one as it will be a disaster if he is wrong), touted his economic record that Biden continued to take credit for along with saving manufacturing jobs, attacked massive mail-in voting as fraud and blasted Biden on his lack of support for law and order (other than the ad hominem attacks doubt if a rare voter with an unmade up mind was swayed or one with was persuaded to switch); on the shooting of the two deputies in Compton, the good news is that Deonte Lee Murray, a suspected gang member, has been arrested after a failed car jacking and charged with attempted murder of the two deputies and in an even better news item Mark Cuban has donated $50,000 to each deputy; Lying Jim Comey in testimony before the Senate was hit with terminal amnesia and could not seem to remember any facts about HRC’s involvement in the creation of the Steele Dossier that lead to the Russia collusion delusion probe hoax; Mayor Lightfoot of Chicago with shootings and killings of black on black slams Trump for his “Lying Mouth.”

Chicago/Baltimore Gun Violence: In Chicago as of September 28, 2020, the number of shootings increased to 3,207 of whom 550 have died (total travesty of BLM when blacks are shot and killed by blacks in droves and only sounds of silence and complete absence of any protests in front of City Hall demanding action to curb the killings and shootings); Baltimore with a fraction of Chicago’s population and hoping against all hopes that 2020 will not be a record in terms of deaths but now seems to be shooting less and killing less and is now 301 behind Chicago at 249 murders (when will Chicago and Baltimore get serious about this carnage or is this the case of true racism as a Blue run city turns a deaf ear and a blind eye to the slaughter of people of color by people of color and when will the left focus on the problem of color on color shootings in Blue run cities which  have  been way  more  deadly and way more numerous than shootings by  police or by random mass shootings which occur much less.
As always, I hope you enjoy today’s holidays and observances, factoids of interest for this  day in history, a musical link to “Rock Me Gently” by Andy Kim,  the fact that you are not a planster and  a quote by Jonathan Glover on civilian bombing,
secure in the knowledge that if you want to ind a gift for any memorable events like Father’s Day, college graduations, birthdays, weddings, or anniversaries, you know that the Alaskanpoet can provide you with a unique customized poem at a great price tailored to the event and the recipient. Please contact me for details.

1. International Translators Day—created by the UN General Assembly in 2017 to make this day a celebration of the efforts of translators in international business and politics to help parties avoid misunderstandings and achieve desired results.

       2. Orange Shirt Day--celebrating not the Protestants in Northern Ireland, the inmates in Orange County, California jails or the color as perfect for Halloween garb but an acknowledgement of the abysmal treatment of Canadian Indians in residential schools and the cultural genocide imposed upon them which the Canadian government has finally seen the error of its ways and after apologizing, closed the last one in 1966.

        3. 1974 Number One Song— the number 1 song in 1974 on a run of 1 week was “Rock Me Gently” by Andy Kim in his first number 1 song to join 24 other acts achieving their first number one song. Here is a recording of the song: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PYH4BmrQqsY This Canadian-Lebanese singer/songwriter also has performed under the name Baron Longfellow and is till active today but “Rock Me Gently” remained his only U.S. number one song.

         4. Word of the Day—today’s word of the day is “planster” which means a petty or poor planer which probably describes politicians calling for huge spending increases without the ability to pay for them and taking into consideration the results of such actions.

        5. In Cold Blood Self—celebrating the birth on this day in 1924 of noted writer Truman Streckfus Persons better known to his fans as Truman Capote best known for his book In Cold Blood but not so much for his drug and alcohol abuse which resulted in his death on August 25, 1984 from liver failure caused by phlebitis and multiple drug intoxication.

         On this day in:

         a. 1939 in a we will not obey you moment, the League of Nations passed a resolution banning intentionally bombing civilian populations.

          b. 1949 after the Soviets threw in the towel and reopened access to Berlin, the Berlin Airlift ended.

          c. 1962 James Meredith entered the University of Mississippi in defiance of segregation laws in Mississippi.

         d. 1980 the world from a technology standpoint became a much smaller place as Xerox in collaboration with Intel and Digital Equipment Corporation published the Ethernet specifications.

           e. 2005 12 controversial drawings of the Prophet Muhammad were published by the Danish Newspaper Jyllands-Postend.

Reflections on the bombing of civilians: ““The use of the blockade against Germany to starve large numbers of people to death broke through the moral barrier against the mass killing of civilians. It was the precedent for the 'conventional' bombing of civilians in the Second World War and then for the use of the atomic bomb.”― Jonathan Glover, Humanity: A Moral history of the Twentieth Century. Wonder how different if at all World War II would have been If League Of Nations Resolution against intentional civilian bombing was observed.

September 29, 2020 Ridley's Believe It Or Not National Coffee Day

Ridley's Believe It Or Not September 29, 2020
CV World Cases: The CV pandemic across the planet continues with 215,248 new cases (a .64%  increase compared to a .87% increase yesterday) to bring the total  over 33 million to 33,688,356, 7,687,323  of  which  are active, 26,000,923 of which have been closed with 24,992,323 recoveries (96.12% compared to  yesterday’s 96.10%) and 1,008,600 deaths (3.88% compared to yesterday’s 3.90%) to continue the trend of increased recovery percentages and decreased mortality percentages.

CV USA Cases: New cases of 80,148 with total cases over 7 million at 7,295,718 (a 1.10% increase compared to yesterday’s .58% increase) with 2,536,870 active cases of which 14,064, on a downward trend with slight blips from a high of 19,155 on July 23  (14,120 yesterday and 15,881 on September 1), are in serious or critical condition as trend continues to go down, and 4,838,996 closures, 210,137 of which have been deaths (4.34% compared to yesterday’s 4.37%) and 4,590,472 of which have been recoveries (95.66% compared to yesterday’s 95.63%) (our death rate percentages continue to improve and are finally in single digits since Cuomo repealed on May 10 his order sending CV positive patients to nursing homes and ADL facilities and on a deaths per million population measurement at 634 ranks behind Peru (977), Belgium (861), Spain (672), Bolivia (675), Brazil (668), Chile (664), and Ecuador (637),  and only slightly worse than UK (619), Italy (594), Sweden (582) that never closed its economy down like we did and Mexico (593) which announced it has run out of death certificates due to surge in deaths. We have now conducted 105,580,499 tests (now at 318,514/M compared to Russia at 312,436/M so Trump is telling truth that we conduct more tests in number and on a per capital basis for nations (but excluding nations with small populations like Israel and Singapore) but for the U.K. at 356,743).

Non CV Case News: Helen Reddy has died at 78; the Biden campaign has rejected The Trump campaign’s call for checking for electronic hearing devices (say goodbye to audio teleprompter) and the Trump campaign has rejected Biden’s call for a break every 30 minutes;  Pelosi after for weeks of urging Biden not to debate Trump has given him advice “to be himself” and “save the planet” (if being himself means gaffing, lapsing, and groping, Biden is in for a long night); Trump has just received his third Nobel Peace Prize nomination for his work in obtaining the Israel-Bahrain deal; The Titans who had 3 players and 5 personnel test positive have suspended in person training and the Vikings the team they played on Sunday followed suit (until a vaccine, completing the shortened season is going to be an on pins and needles affair); Biden has released his 2019 tax returns and has called on Trump to do the same; Kamala Harris must be taking lessons from Bunker Biden on availability as she after a speech at Shaw University closed to the general public slammed Trump for not caring about the health of Americans and nominating Barrett to SCOTUS and immediately almost sprinted of the stage to not take any questions (since being named as his VP pick 42 days ago, Harris has created a invisible bunker or press shield and not taking a single question from the press); Senator Feinstein who has been reaming the FAA for not ruling that masks are mandatory on planes and in airports was caught on cameral at Dulles walking less than 6 feet behind someone and not wearing a mask (“Do as I say not as I do”); the Flynn dismissal circus is still on as Flynn’s lawyer demanded Judge Sullivan recuse himself because of abject bias.

Chicago/Baltimore Gun Violence: In Chicago as of September 28, 2020, the number of shootings increased to 3,199 of whom 547 have died (total travesty of BLM when blacks are shot and killed by blacks in droves and only sounds of silence and complete absence of any protests in front of City Hall demanding action to curb the killings and shootings); Baltimore with a fraction of Chicago’s population and hoping against all hopes that 2020 will not be a record in terms of deaths but now seems to be shooting less and killing less and is now 299 behind Chicago at 248 murders (when will Chicago and Baltimore get serious about this carnage or is this the case of true racism as a Blue run city turns a deaf ear and a blind eye to the slaughter of people of color by people of color and when will the left focus on the problem of color on color shootings in Blue run cities which  have  been way  more  deadly and way more numerous than shootings by  police or by random mass shootings which occur much less.
As always, I hope you enjoy today’s holidays and observances, factoids of interest for this  day in history, a musical link to “We’re an American Band by Grand Funk,  the fact that you are planiloquent and  a quote by Nanea Hoffman on coffee,
secure in the knowledge that if you want to ind a gift for any memorable events like Father’s Day, college graduations, birthdays, weddings, or anniversaries, you know that the Alaskanpoet can provide you with a unique customized poem at a great price tailored to the event and the recipient. 1. VFW Day—celebrating the veterans’ organizations that were formed locally to assist veterans who were returning from the Spanish American War and the Philippine Insurrection to have grown into an organization of some 1.5 million veterans who have fought in our foreign wars to promote the interests and well being of such veterans.

       2. National Coffee Day—celebrating that ubiquitous beverage that most Americans cannot start their day without whether regular or decaf which first appeared in 1903 and today a great day to celebrate as coffee prices from the plantations are down.

        3. 1973 Number One Song— the number 1 song in 1973 on a run of 1 week was “We’re an American Band” by Grand Funk  in its first number 1 song to join 13 other acts achieving their first number one song. Here is a recording of the song:  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rwsgznR_T-g This rock band was formed in Flint, Michigan in  1969 and was very popular during the during until it disbanded in 1976-1981, reformed 1981-1983 and disbanded again from 1983-1996 to reform and still be active.

          4. Word of the Day—today’s word of the day is “planiloquent” which means speaking plainly, a skill most politicians have long since discarded.

         5. Surprise What Solidarity Can Achieve—celebrating the birth on this day in 1943 of Leach Walesa, an electrician in the Gdansk Shipyards in Poland who founded the Trade Union Solidarity which was instrumental in breaking the Soviet Union’s grip on Poland and other Warsaw Pact Nations and became Poland’s first democratically elected president from 1990 to 1995 and won a Nobel Peace Prize and in 1989 became the first foreign non head of state to address a Joint Session of the U.S. Congress.

         On this day in:

         a. 1923 in a pre Title IX moment, the first American Women’s Track and Field Championships were held at Weequahic Park, Newark, New Jersey.

           b. 1975 WGPR in Detroit, Michigan became the first black own TV station.

          c. 1990 construction of the Washington National Cathedral was completed in Washington, D.C.

         d. 2007 Calder Hall, the world’s first nuclear power plant located in England dedicated on October 17, 1956  by Queen Elizabeth II, was demolished by a controlled explosion.

           e. 2013 44 students and teachers were killed and 16 wounded by Boko Harem at the College of Agriculture in Gabja, Nigeria.

Reflections on the importance of coffee: “May your coffee be stronger than any challenges you face today. But if not, remember: DON’T throw your cup at anyone. You need it for refills.” – Nanea Hoffman, noted writer and coffee lover.

Sptember 28, 2020 Ridley's Beleive It Or Not Freedom from Hunger Day

Ridley's Believe It Or Not September 28, 2020
CV World Cases: The CV pandemic across the planet continues with 289,766 new cases (a .87%  increase compared to a .66% increase yesterday) to bring the total  over 33 million to 33,473,108, 7,688,796  of  which  are active, 25,784,312 of which have been closed with 24,779,651 recoveries (96.10% compared to  yesterday’s 96.08%) and 1,004,661 deaths (3.90% compared to yesterday’s 3.92%) to continue the trend of increased recovery percentages and decreased mortality percentages.

CV USA Cases: New cases of 41,971 with total cases over 7 million at 7,295,718 (a .58 increase compared to yesterday’s .3% increase) with 2,537,616 active cases of which 14,120, on a downward trend with slight blips from a high of 19,155 on July 23  (14,135 yesterday and 15,881 on September 1), are in serious or critical condition as trend continues to go down, and 4,800,073 closures, 209,601 of which have been deaths (4.37% compared to yesterday’s 4.42%) and 4,590,472 of which have been recoveries (95.63% compared to yesterday’s 95.58%) (our death rate percentages continue to improve and are finally in single digits since Cuomo repealed on May 10 his order sending CV positive patients to nursing homes and ADL facilities and on a deaths per million population measurement at 632 ranks behind Peru (975), Belgium (860), Spain (672), Bolivia (671), Brazil (666), Chile (663), and Ecuador (637),  and only slightly worse than UK (618), Italy (593), Sweden (581) that never closed its economy down like we did and Mexico (591) which announced it has run out of death certificates due to surge in deaths. We have now conducted 103,651,667 tests (now at 315,717/M compared to Russia at 311,066/M so Trump is telling truth that we conduct more tests in number and on a per capital basis but for the U.K. at 353,329).

Non CV Case News: Project Veritas has on film the illegal activity of Omar Somali operatives illegally harvesting ballots (safe bet is that ballots will all be marked for Omar and other Blues and I wonder what see no evil voter fraud Wray has to say about this); on the stimulus front Pelosi is proposing a $2.2 trillion deal down from her idiotic gambit of $3.4 which may be a move in the right direction assuming no funds for illegal aliens and severe restrictions on states with massive unfunded pension liabilities but stay tuned for the details; the firestorm among the left over the ACB nomination is making the furor look like a Kumbaya song fest around the campfire as Planned Parenthood and NOW are in meltdown mode claiming she will cast her vote to enable Trump to steal the election, repeal Obamacare and repeal Roe v. Wade—ranting this exceptionally qualified jurist of impeccable intellect and integrity is a mindless Trump puppet; Pelosi is sounding alarm bells to her caucus that Blues must pedal to the metal to insure that a majority of the states have Congressional delegations that are controlled by Blues if the House is to decide the election; Trump and Biden are set to debate tomorrow at 6:00 p.m. PDT with no preliminary handshakes and no wearing of masks (not being able to hide his face whatever facial expressions of bewilderment or memory loss will be on better display); in a Harry S. Truman déjà vu, Biden is going a a train to campaign after the debate; in a blatant example of why the NYT has lost any journalistic integrity, Tatiana Turner was charged with attempted murder by hitting Trump supporters at a rally between them and BLM—NPR reported the obvious as the driver drives through a sea of Trump signs and merchandise while NYT “reporter” Marie Fazio mentioned only that people were hit with non life threatening injuries and called the demonstration between a group for social justice and counter protesters not Trump supporters (Fazio must believe that hitting a Trump supporter with a car cannot be attempted murder); in an almost “I am Spartacus” trend to be crucified for being white, Blue Louisiana State Senator Mandie Landry is tweeting that she is ashamed to be white (so much for King’s plea to be judged by content on one’s character as opposed to color of one’s skin).

Chicago/Baltimore Gun Violence: In Chicago as of September 27, 2020, the number of shootings increased to 3,190 of whom 544 have died (total travesty of BLM when blacks are shot and killed by blacks in droves and only sounds of silence and complete absence of any protests in front of City Hall demanding action to curb the killings and shootings); Baltimore with a fraction of Chicago’s population and hoping against all hopes that 2020 will not be a record in terms of deaths but now seems to be shooting less and killing less and is now 296 behind Chicago at 248 murders (when will Chicago and Baltimore get serious about this carnage or is this the case of true racism as a Blue run city turns a deaf ear and a blind eye to the slaughter of people of color by people of color and when will the left focus on the problem of color on color shootings in Blue run cities which  have  been way  more  deadly and way more numerous than shootings by  police or by random mass shootings which occur much less.
As always, I hope you enjoy today’s holidays and observances, factoids of interest for this  day in history, a musical link to “Baby Don’t Get Hooked On Me” by Mac Davis,  the fact that you are not plangorous due to events and  a quote by Hans Selye of penicillin,
secure in the knowledge that if you want to ind a gift for any memorable events like Father’s Day, college graduations, birthdays, weddings, or anniversaries, you know that the Alaskanpoet can provide you with a unique customized poem at a great price tailored to the event and the recipient. 1. Freedom from Hunger Day—first celebrated on this day in 2006 to create awareness of the prevalence of hunger both domestically and internationally that makes it so hard to rise out of poverty.

         2. International Rabies Day—created on September 8, 2007 by the Alliance for Rabies Control and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention to create awareness of this deadly disease and the need for owners to vaccinate their dogs.

         3. 1972 Number One Song— the number 1 song in 1972 on a run of 3 weeks was “Baby Don’t Get Hooked on Me” by Mac Davis in his first number 1 song to join 17 other acts achieving their first number one song. Here is a recording of the song: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UauHDIlhvTk This country music singer and song writer has still been performing but has recently had heart surgery and is in critical condition.

         4. Word of the Day—today’s word of the day is “plangorous” which means mournful and describes to a tee how Blues must feel over the Barrett nomination to SCOTUS.

         5. Passing the Baton for the Last Time—celebrating the birth on this day in 1986 of Ethiopian distance runner Meskerem Legesse who competed in the 2004 Olympics     and then turned pro but had to ultimately retire due to a heart condition which when she was 3 weeks from delivering her second child died from a heart attack on July 15, 2013 outside a NYC restaurant but medical personnel were able to successfully deliver her child alive and well.

         On this day in:

         a. 1928 Arthur Fleming noticed a bacteria killing bread mold growing in his laboratory which eventually would become the first wonder drug penicillin.

         b. 1951 CBS offered color television sets to the public but discontinued their sale very shortly thereafter.

         c. 1973 the ITT Building in NYC was bombed by the Weather Underground in protest to ITT’s alleged involvement in the coup d’état that overthrew the Allende Government in Chile.

       d. 1986 after years of one party rule under the Kuomintang after it fled from China , the Progressive Development Party became the first opposition party in Taiwan.

        e. 2008 Falcon 1 built by SpaceX became the first privately funded liquid fueled rocket to successfully launch a payload into orbit from Earth.

Reflections on scientific discovery and the discovery of penicillin: “I doubt that Fleming could have obtained a grant for the discovery of penicillin on that basis [a requirement for highly detailed research plans] because he could not have said, 'I propose to have an accident in a culture so that it will be spoiled by a mould falling on it, and I propose to recognize the possibility of extracting an antibiotic from this mould.”― Hans Selye, From Dream to Discovery: On Being a Scientist.

September 27, 2020 Ridley's Believe It Or Not Rock Endorses Harris and Biden (aka Weekend at Bernie's)

Ridley's Believe It Or Not September 27, 2020

CV World Cases: The CV pandemic across the planet continues with 217,338 new cases (a .66%  increase compared to a 1.21% increase yesterday) to bring the total  over 33 million to 33,183,342 cases, 7,675,479  of  which  are active, 25,507,863 of which have been closed with 24,507,503 recoveries (96.08% compared to  yesterday’s 96.06%) and 1,000,360 deaths (3.92% compared to yesterday’s 3.94%) to continue the trend of increased recovery percentages and decreased mortality percentages.

CV USA Cases: New cases of 21,823 with total cases over 7 million at 7,295,718 (a .3% increase compared to yesterday’s 3.62% increase) with 2,560,723 active cases of which 14,093, on a downward trend with slight blips from a high of 19,155 on July 23  (14,135 yesterday and 15,881 on September 1), are in serious or critical condition as trend continues to go down, and 4,734,995 closures, 209,242 of which have been deaths (4.42% compared to yesterday’s 4.43%) and 4,525,753 of which have been recoveries (95.58% compared to yesterday’s 95.57%) (our death rate percentages continue to improve and are finally in single digits since Cuomo repealed on May 10 his order sending CV positive patients to nursing homes and ADL facilities and on a deaths per million population measurement at 631 ranks behind Peru (972), Belgium (860), Spain (668), Bolivia (668), Brazil (665), Chile (660), and Ecuador (637),  and only slightly worse than UK (618), Italy (593), Sweden (581) that never closed its economy down like we did and Mexico (590) which announced it has run out of death certificates due to surge in deaths. We have now conducted 103,723,485 tests (now at 312,921/M compared to Russia at 309,011/M so Trump is telling truth that we conduct more tests in number and on a per capital basis but for the U.K. at 341,155).

Non CV Case News: Supposedly the NYT will have an “October Surprise” as it claims it has received tax returns for Trump stretching back decades which according to it will show no or very little taxes paid to to losses in Trump businesses, reports which Trump has earnestly denied; RBG’s casket was removed from lying in state so the dog whistles of riots must have been blown again in Louisville, Portland and Seattle with police attacked and laser targeting, car explosion and fire, arrests and vandalism but fortunately no one shot; the Houston area declared a water emergency now lifted after a girl was infected with the brain tissue eating ameba Naegleria fowleri and who fortunately recovered after a long stint in ICU and a ventilator and an experimental drug (scary news as the infection is almost always fatal but fortunately is very, very rare); the Rock claiming to be a centrist politically has just endorsed the most leftist ticket ever put forth by the Democratic Party (successful actor but wrong big time on this one so I hope he enjoys the Biden tax hike he will be hit with); the attacks against Barrett are rising in intensity with hate mongers like Ibram X. Kendi claiming she is a “white colonizer” for adopting 2 children from Haiti (what does that make Obama’s white mother who was 3 months pregnant when she married Obama’s African American father or his white grandparents that spent a lot of time raising him?); not sure if it is a going through the motions front but Pelosi has warned colleagues that Barrett’s Catholic religion should be out of bounds from attack.

Chicago/Baltimore Gun Violence: In Chicago as of September 26, 2020, the number of shootings increased to 3,176 of whom 539 have died (total travesty of BLM when blacks are shot and killed by blacks in droves and only sounds of silence and complete absence of any protests in front of City Hall demanding action to curb the killings and shootings); Baltimore with a fraction of Chicago’s population and hoping against all hopes that 2020 will not be a record in terms of deaths but now seems to be shooting less and killing less and is now 293 behind Chicago at 246 murders (when will Chicago and Baltimore get serious about this carnage or is this the case of true racism as a Blue run city turns a deaf ear and a blind eye to the slaughter of people of color by people of color and when will the left focus on the problem of color on color shootings in Blue run cities which  have  been way  more  deadly and way more numerous than shootings by  police or by random mass shootings which occur much less.

September 20, 2020 Ridley's Blieve It Or Not Native American Day

Ridley's Believe It Or Not September 25, 2020

CV World Cases: The CV pandemic across the planet continues with 261,214 new cases (a .81%  increase compared to a .92% increase yesterday) to bring the total  over 32 million to 32,572,774 cases, 7,534,413  of  which  are active, 25,038,361 of which have been closed with 24,048,380 recoveries (96.03% compared to  yesterday’s 96.05%) and 989,981 deaths (3,95% compared to yesterday’s 3.97%) to continue the trend of increased recovery percentages and decreased mortality percentages.

CV USA Cases: New cases of 185,133 with total cases over 7 million at 7,019,847 (a 2.64% increase compared to yesterday’s 2.07% increase) with 2,538,869 active cases of which 14,149, on a downward trend with slight blips from a high of 19,155 on July 23  (14,090 yesterday and 15,881 on September 1), are in serious or critical condition as trend continues to go down, and 4,666,111 closures, 207,893 of which have been deaths (4.46% compared to yesterday’s 4.48%) and 4,458,218 of which have been recoveries (95.54% compared to yesterday’s 95.52%) (our death rate percentages continue to improve and are finally in single digits since Cuomo repealed on May 10 his order sending CV positive patients to nursing homes and ADL facilities and on a deaths per million population measurement at 627 ranks behind Peru (966), Belgium (859), Spain (665), Bolivia (663), Brazil (658), Chile (654), Ecuador (633), and UK (617)  and only slightly worse than Italy (592), Sweden (581) that never closed its economy down like we did and Mexico (584) which announced it has run out of death certificates due to surge in deaths. We have now conducted 102,463,044 tests (now at 309,124/M compared to Russia at 303,530/M so Trump is telling truth that we conduct more tests in number and on a per capital basis but for the U.K. at 341,160).

Non CV Case News: Pelosi must have a case of the Biden dementia jitters as she is demanding that even though she “knows” he will do “well” that he skip the debate; Governor Cuomo might be sweating blood as the Massachusetts’s AG criminally charged two operators of the Mt. Holyoke Soldiers Home for the death of 76 aging veterans from COVID-19 for behavior that sounds very Cuomo like putting CV positive patients with patients without the virus and infecting them; Biden and the Blues may be concerned blacks will desert them in droves after Trump unveiled his “Platinum Plan” pledging $500 billion in capital to black communities, designating the KKK and Antifa as terrorist organizations and making lynching a national hate crime (this coming on serious inroads he is making in the Latino communities to reduce their votes in favor of Blues; Breonna Taylor’s mother has released a statement blasting AG Cameron and the grand jury’s decision and proclaiming she no longer has any faith in the judicial system (the judge in this case should release the grand jury transcript that hopefully will justify its decision); Bryant Johnson, RBG’s trainer for 21 years paid her a unique homage by doing push ups next to her casket lying in state; Reds are rightfully concerned that the massive expansion of mail in voting is replete with fraud potential as 1,000 voters in Virginia counties received an extra ballot (reminds one of a quote attributed to Stalin, “I don’t care who gets to vote as long as I count the ballots”); the 2 Reds on the North Carolina Elections Board controlled by 3 Blues have resigned over a settlement pushed by Blues that would make vote harvesting (also known as fraud green lights) easier.

Chicago/Baltimore Gun Violence: In Chicago as of September 24, 2020, the number of shootings increased to 3,133 of whom 534 have died (total travesty of BLM when blacks are shot and killed by blacks in droves and only sounds of silence and complete absence of any protests in front of City Hall demanding action to curb the killings and shootings); Baltimore with a fraction of Chicago’s population and hoping against all hopes that 2020 will not be a record in terms of deaths but now seems to be shooting less and killing less and is now 291 behind Chicago at 243 murders (when will Chicago and Baltimore get serious about this carnage or is this the case of true racism as a Blue run city turns a deaf ear and a blind eye to the slaughter of people of color by people of color and when will the left focus on the problem of color on color shootings in Blue run cities which  have  been way  more  deadly and way more numerous than shootings by  police or by random mass shootings which occur much less.
As always, I hope you enjoy today’s holidays and observances, factoids of interest for this  day in history, a musical link to “Ain’t No Mountain High Enough” by Dianna Ross,  the fact that you are not pixilated and  a quote by Christine Keeler on the impact of the Profumo Affair,

         2. Native American Day—created as an alternative to Columbus Day to celebrate the contributions of Native Americans to our culture and history and celebrated on the 4th Friday of the month in California and Nevada.

         3. 1970 Number One Song— the number 1 song in 1970 on a run of 3 weeks was “Ain’t No Mountain High Enough” by Dianna Ross in her first number 1 song as a soloist after leaving The Supremes.  Here us a recording of the song: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5_pmKPWLBrE This highly successful artist is the only female singer to have a number one songs as a soloist, member of a duet (Lionel Richie), trio (The Supremes) and an ensemble (We are the world-USA for Africa).

        4. Word of the Day—today’s word of the day is “pixilated” which means bewildered which describes Joe Biden to a tee when confronted by issues without being tethered to a teleprompter.

         5. Hard to Fly When You Can No Longer Walk—celebrating the birth on this day in 1952 of noted actor best known for his role in Superman and its sequels and who after becoming a quadriplegic after being thrown from a horse in an equestrian event on May 25, 1995 an activist for those with spinal cord injuries until October 9, 2004 when Kryptonite in the form of an antibiotic for a pressure ulcer sent him into a coma from which he never recovered, dying the next day.

            On this day in:

Reflections on the Profumo Affair:  “Ever since the Profumo Affair, I have never known if a man was capable of loving me for me and for being Christine Keeler. I have survived and possibly should not hope for more than that” Christine Keeler The Truth at Last. (2001) as updated by her in Secrets and Lies (2012).

September 24, 2020 Ridley's Believe It Or Not National Punctuation Day

Ridley's Believe It Or Not September 24, 2020
CV World Cases: The CV pandemic across the planet continues with 293,896 new cases (a .92%  increase compared to a 1.21% increase yesterday) to bring the total  over 32 million to 32,311,560 cases, 7,504,068  of  which  are active, 24,807,337 of which have been closed with 23,822,068 recoveries (96.03% compared to  yesterday’s 96.01%) and 985,269 deaths (3,97% compared to yesterday’s 3.99%) to continue the trend of increased recovery percentages and decreased mortality percentages.

CV USA Cases: New cases of 144,987 with total cases over 7 million at 7,019,847 (a 2,07% increase compared to yesterday’s 1.56% increase) with 2,541,883 active cases of which 14,090, on a downward trend with slight blips from a high of 19,155 on July 23  (14,101 yesterday and 15,881 on September 1), are in serious or

critical condition as trend continues to go down, and 4,622,951 closures, 207,126 of which have been deaths (4.48% compared to yesterday’s 4.50%) and 4,415,825 of which have been recoveries (95.52% compared to yesterday’s 95.50%) (our death rate percentages continue to improve and are finally in single digits since Cuomo repealed on May 10 his order sending CV positive patients to nursing homes and ADL facilities and on a deaths per million population measurement at 625 ranks behind Peru (964), Belgium (858), Spain (665), Bolivia (660), Brazil (654), Chile (651), Ecuador (631), and UK (616)  and only slightly worse than Italy (592) and Sweden (581) that never closed its economy down like we did and Mexico (580) which announced it has run out of death certificates due to surge in deaths. We have now conducted 101,214,535 (now at 305,367/M compared to Russia at 300,790/M so Trump is telling truth that we conduct more tests in number and on a per capital basis but for the U.K. at 332,79053.
Non CV Case News: Another slim glimmer of hope that normalcy is returning as the PAC-12 announced football would return for a 7 game season on the 1st week in November; while the Kentucky AG is being railed against for being an “Uncle Tom”, mini riots last night in Louisville with 126 arrested and 2 cops shot, 1 white and 1 black by a 26 year old black Larynzo Johnson who is now in custody (normally grand jury transcripts are sealed but in an effort to quell potential violence, the transcripts ought to be released to substantiate why the grand jury indicted as it did instead of murder charges BLM wanted against the 3 officers involved); the MSM is aping the 3 monkeys of “hear no evil, see no evil and since its Blue evil report no evil” and not reporting the results of the Senate report detailing Hunter Biden’s questionable financial dealing with Russia, in the Ukraine and with individuals linked to the Chinese Communist Party (Hunter is not running for president but his father is on tape bragging that if an Ukrainian prosecutor investigating Hunter’s employer Burisma is not fired in 6 hours, Biden is returning without releasing $1 billion in aid); Chelsea Clinton must be eying political office in the future as she blames Trump for CV deaths, for not doing enough on confidence for a vaccine and playing the dog eared well worn “he’s a racist” card; FBI Director Wray has stated the obvious that where federal help has been requested protests have been a lot more peaceful (same would be true if D.A.’s on rioting “protesters” being subject to judicial catch and release); Hulu after receiving a good deal of backlash on promoting its documentary on the shooting of Breonna Taylor as the grand jury indictments were coming down has apologized and pulled its promos; regardless of whether he meant it Herschel Walker applauded Biden for condemning the shooting of the 2 cops in Louisville but slammed for not withdrawing her pledge to support bailing out rioters aka her “protesters”; Biden’s prayer of having enough people vote by mail before his dementia is revealed during the debates may be working as 500,000 ballots have already been cast; the Dallas City Council has voted to cut the overtime budget of the Dallas Police Department by $7 million which has prompted outrage by its mayor (when 911  calls are not answered hope the Dallas residents have their council members home phone numbers handy).

Chicago/Baltimore Gun Violence: In Chicago as of September 23, 2020, the number of shootings increased to 3,121 of whom 532 have died (total travesty of BLM when blacks are shot and killed by blacks in droves and only sounds of silence and complete absence of any protests in front of City Hall demanding action to curb the killings and shootings); Baltimore with a fraction of Chicago’s population and hoping against all hopes that 2020 will not be a record in terms of deaths but now seems to be shooting less and killing less and is now 290 behind Chicago at 242 murders (when will Chicago and Baltimore get serious about this carnage or is this the case of true racism as a Blue run city turns a deaf ear and a blind eye to the slaughter of people of color by people of color and when will the left focus on the problem of color on color shootings in Blue run cities which  have  been way  more  deadly and way more numerous than shootings by  police or by random mass shootings which occur much less.
As always, I hope you enjoy today’s holidays and observances, factoids of interest for this  day in history, a musical link to “You Can’t Hurry Love” by The Supremes,  the fact that you are not a pilgarlick and  a quote by Maria Cristina Marerro on same sex marriage,

1. National Horchata Day—created by ampm on September 19, 2019  to promote that milky drink made with ground almonds, tiger nuts or rice and celebrated by quaffing down a horchata.

        2. National Punctuation Day—created by Jeff Rubin in 2003 to promote a dying art with Microsoft Spell Check and Autocorrect doing most of the work for the writer.

         3. 1969 Number One Song— the number 1 song in 1969 on a run of 10 weeks was “In My Feelings” by Drake which was his second of the year preceded by “God’s Feeling” at 11 weeks.  Here us a recording of the song: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DRS_PpOrUZ4 This Canadian rapper hs been selling records like hot cakes.

        4. Word of the Day—today’s word of the day is “pismire” which means something or someone insignificant which describes how politician view most of us.

       5. So Others May Live—celebrating the birth on this day in 1969 of Medal of Honor winner Paul Ray Smith who in action near Baghdad refusing to evacuate his wounded while under fire and slugged it out with attacking Iraqis until they were and sadly he was killed.

            On this day in:

          a. 1906 after starting on the 22nd, the Atlanta Race Riots came to an end after being started by unproven allegations that 2 white women had been raped by blacks and having the Georgia National Guard called out with over 23 blacks killed and 90 some blacks injured.

          b. 1960 the USS Enterprise, the world’s first nuclear powered aircraft carrier was launched and decommissioned on February 3, 2017.

          c. 1972 in a major “oops” moment Japan Airlines Flight 472  from Tokyo to Frankfurt with multiple stops in between landed at Bombay’s smaller airport Juju Aerodrome instead of its planned landing at the city’s larger airport Santacruz Airport and slid off the runway, rendering the plane not economically viable and injuring 2 crew members and 9 passengers.

             d. 1996 71 nations signed the Comprehensive Nuclear Test Ban Treaty.

           e. 2014 the Mars Orbiter Mission made India the first Asian nation to reach Mars.

Reflections on the Atlanta Race Riot: “This man has worked for me a number of years. He may be guilty, but he ought to have a chance for his life, and not be put to death on suspicion. You can’t have him, but if you will telephone for officers, they can take him to jail” Mrs. F. S. Cox appearing in The New York Times and The New York Age, an African-American newspaper. She reportedly confronted a mob 100 whites and saved the life of a black male, Walter Hicus. Cox locked Hicus in her home and stood on her porch to confront the mob of more than 100 men who did not attack and Hicus was placed in jail.
