September 29, 2020 Ridley's Believe It Or Not National Coffee Day

Ridley's Believe It Or Not September 29, 2020
CV World Cases: The CV pandemic across the planet continues with 215,248 new cases (a .64%  increase compared to a .87% increase yesterday) to bring the total  over 33 million to 33,688,356, 7,687,323  of  which  are active, 26,000,923 of which have been closed with 24,992,323 recoveries (96.12% compared to  yesterday’s 96.10%) and 1,008,600 deaths (3.88% compared to yesterday’s 3.90%) to continue the trend of increased recovery percentages and decreased mortality percentages.

CV USA Cases: New cases of 80,148 with total cases over 7 million at 7,295,718 (a 1.10% increase compared to yesterday’s .58% increase) with 2,536,870 active cases of which 14,064, on a downward trend with slight blips from a high of 19,155 on July 23  (14,120 yesterday and 15,881 on September 1), are in serious or critical condition as trend continues to go down, and 4,838,996 closures, 210,137 of which have been deaths (4.34% compared to yesterday’s 4.37%) and 4,590,472 of which have been recoveries (95.66% compared to yesterday’s 95.63%) (our death rate percentages continue to improve and are finally in single digits since Cuomo repealed on May 10 his order sending CV positive patients to nursing homes and ADL facilities and on a deaths per million population measurement at 634 ranks behind Peru (977), Belgium (861), Spain (672), Bolivia (675), Brazil (668), Chile (664), and Ecuador (637),  and only slightly worse than UK (619), Italy (594), Sweden (582) that never closed its economy down like we did and Mexico (593) which announced it has run out of death certificates due to surge in deaths. We have now conducted 105,580,499 tests (now at 318,514/M compared to Russia at 312,436/M so Trump is telling truth that we conduct more tests in number and on a per capital basis for nations (but excluding nations with small populations like Israel and Singapore) but for the U.K. at 356,743).

Non CV Case News: Helen Reddy has died at 78; the Biden campaign has rejected The Trump campaign’s call for checking for electronic hearing devices (say goodbye to audio teleprompter) and the Trump campaign has rejected Biden’s call for a break every 30 minutes;  Pelosi after for weeks of urging Biden not to debate Trump has given him advice “to be himself” and “save the planet” (if being himself means gaffing, lapsing, and groping, Biden is in for a long night); Trump has just received his third Nobel Peace Prize nomination for his work in obtaining the Israel-Bahrain deal; The Titans who had 3 players and 5 personnel test positive have suspended in person training and the Vikings the team they played on Sunday followed suit (until a vaccine, completing the shortened season is going to be an on pins and needles affair); Biden has released his 2019 tax returns and has called on Trump to do the same; Kamala Harris must be taking lessons from Bunker Biden on availability as she after a speech at Shaw University closed to the general public slammed Trump for not caring about the health of Americans and nominating Barrett to SCOTUS and immediately almost sprinted of the stage to not take any questions (since being named as his VP pick 42 days ago, Harris has created a invisible bunker or press shield and not taking a single question from the press); Senator Feinstein who has been reaming the FAA for not ruling that masks are mandatory on planes and in airports was caught on cameral at Dulles walking less than 6 feet behind someone and not wearing a mask (“Do as I say not as I do”); the Flynn dismissal circus is still on as Flynn’s lawyer demanded Judge Sullivan recuse himself because of abject bias.

Chicago/Baltimore Gun Violence: In Chicago as of September 28, 2020, the number of shootings increased to 3,199 of whom 547 have died (total travesty of BLM when blacks are shot and killed by blacks in droves and only sounds of silence and complete absence of any protests in front of City Hall demanding action to curb the killings and shootings); Baltimore with a fraction of Chicago’s population and hoping against all hopes that 2020 will not be a record in terms of deaths but now seems to be shooting less and killing less and is now 299 behind Chicago at 248 murders (when will Chicago and Baltimore get serious about this carnage or is this the case of true racism as a Blue run city turns a deaf ear and a blind eye to the slaughter of people of color by people of color and when will the left focus on the problem of color on color shootings in Blue run cities which  have  been way  more  deadly and way more numerous than shootings by  police or by random mass shootings which occur much less.

1. VFW Day—celebrating the veterans’ organizations that were formed locally to assist veterans who were returning from the Spanish American War and the Philippine Insurrection to have grown into an organization of some 1.5 million veterans who have fought in our foreign wars to promote the interests and well being of such veterans.

Here is a recording of the song:  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rwsgznR_T-g This rock band was formed in Flint, Michigan in  1969 and was very popular during the during until it disbanded in 1976-1981, reformed 1981-1983 and disbanded again from 1983-1996 to reform and still be active.

          4. Word of the Day—today’s word of the day is “planiloquent” which means speaking plainly, a skill most politicians have long since discarded.

         5. Surprise What Solidarity Can Achieve—celebrating the birth on this day in 1943 of Leach Walesa, an electrician in the Gdansk Shipyards in Poland who founded the Trade Union Solidarity which was instrumental in breaking the Soviet Union’s grip on Poland and other Warsaw Pact Nations and became Poland’s first democratically elected president from 1990 to 1995 and won a Nobel Peace Prize and in 1989 became the first foreign non head of state to address a Joint Session of the U.S. Congress.

         On this day in:

         a. 1923 in a pre Title IX moment, the first American Women’s Track and Field Championships were held at Weequahic Park, Newark, New Jersey.

           b. 1975 WGPR in Detroit, Michigan became the first black own TV station.

          c. 1990 construction of the Washington National Cathedral was completed in Washington, D.C.
