Ridley’s Believe It Or Not For July 18, 2018 James Comey who
has disgraced the FBI is back in the news again urging Republicans to vote
Democratic as he slammed Trump’s behavior during the press conference implying
that anyone who did not vote against Trump was not a partriot; in Alabama,
Representative Martha Roby demonstrated the power of a Trump endorsement even though she had urged him to drop out of
the race in 2016 over the groping allegations by winning her primary 2-1; the
AL All Stars defeated the NL All Stars 8-6 in ten innings in a home run filled
game; on the racist front, Brewers pitcher Josh Hader apologized for old racist
and homophobic tweets that appeared during the All Star game and the publisher
of the East Bay Express resigned
after using a racial slur in front of staffers two of whom resigned in protest;
former Senator Joseph Lieberman has come out urging voters in the 14th
District to abandon support of Ocasio-Cortez and her socialist philosophy and
vote for Joseph Crowley whom she defeated in the Democratic Primary; Republicans
in the House are pushing tax cuts 2.0 to make the tax cuts permanent, cut the
corporate rate by another one percent, create universal savings account to make
it easier for middle class to save for retirement (Blues should be shaking in
their boots given the success of the first tax cut); Google has been fined $5
billion over its apps on its Android phone; through
July 16, 2018, 1532 people mostly of color have been shot by mostly people of
color, of whom 246 have died (when will Chicago get serious about this carnage
or is this the case of true racism as a Blue run city turns a deaf ear and a
blind eye to the slaughter of people of color by people of color?).

5. Fear and Loathing—celebrating the birth on this day in 1937 of Hunter S. Thompson
noted counter culture author, drug user and alcohol abuser best known for his
book Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas but
who fought the demons of depression which caused him to shoot himself in the head
on February 20, 2005.

a. 1968 Intel was founded in Mountain View, California.
b. 1969 Senator Ted Kennedy crashed his car into a tidal basin
on Chappaquiddick Island killing his passenger and aide who worked on his 1968
failed presidential campaign, Mary Jo Kopechne.
c. 1884 at a McDonald’s in San Ysidro, California James Oliver
Huberty opened fire on patrons there killing 21 and wounding 19 others before
being shot and killed by police.
d. 1992 a photo of the band Les Horribles Cernettes was taken
and then published as the first photo so published on the internet.
e. 2013 the city of Detroit burdened with $20 billion in debt
filed for bankruptcy in the largest municipal bankruptcy in this nation.
Reflections on the
bankruptcy of Detroit: “The story of Detroit's bankruptcy was simple enough:
Allow capitalism to grow the city, campaign against income inequality, tax the
job creators until they flee, increase government spending in order to boost
employment, promise generous pension plans to keep people voting for failure.
Rinse, wash and repeat.” Ben Shapiro, conservative speaker who incites leftist
riots on college campuses.
