Ridley’s Believe It Or Not For July 21, 2018 News out of North Korea that the country is in a deep economic meltdown as a result of sanctions; Joe Biden noted for his gaffs is considering a run for president in 2020 as he ripped Trump’s immigration policies as the darkest moment in our history; on the trade war front, the Trump asmidistration is not backing down and proposing billions more in tariffs on Chinese goods which continues to relentlessly steal our intellectual property; the Republicans have announced that they will hold their 2020 convention in Charlottesville; South Korea’s former president Park-gun Hye  has just had another 8 years added to her sentence for illegally receiving funds and corruption; Putin will be invited to visit the U.S. this fall; the NFL facing a decline in attendance and ratings and the Players Union have agreed to suspend rules requiring players to stand during the national anthem (when will these millionaires come to their senses and realize that their stunt is goingto drive fan support away from the game?); on the crime front suspected cop killer in Hawaii, James Waiki was shot and killed by police resisting arrest; through July 19, 2018, 1559 people mostly of color have been shot by mostly people of color, of whom 251 have died (when will Chicago get serious about this carnage or is this the case of true racism as a Blue run city turns a deaf ear and a blind eye to the slaughter of people of color by people of color?).

5. Wild World celebrating the birth on this day in 1948 of noted singer and songwriter  Stephen Georgiou better known to his fans as Cat Stevens who after a near drowning in Malibu converted to Islam.

    On this day in: 

a. 1959 the NS Savannah, the world’s first nuclear powered passenger/ cargo ship was launched; the ship was in service from 1962-1972 and is now a museum.

b. 1970 after 11 years of construction the Aswan Dam over the Nile was completed.   

c. 1973 at Lillehammer, Norway Mossad agents killed a waiter whom had been mistaken as one of  the terrorist involved in the 1972 Munich Olympics attack on Israeli athletes. 

d. 1983 the coldest temperature ever recorded at an inhabited location occurred at Vostok Station, Antarctica where the temperature fell to −128.6 °F.

e. 2005 4 bombs planted at four different locations in London were set off but fortunately failed to completely explode and killed no one and injured only one person. 4 Muslim suspects were arrested, tried, convicted and sentenced to life imprisonment in 2007 and will be rotting in prison for another 29 years.
