Ridleys Believe It Or Not-This Day In History February 3, 2014 Hold On To Your Wallet Day

Ridley's Believe It Or Not--February 3, 2014:  On the day after Super Bowl Sunday while you are wondering why all the hype for a complete blow out unless a skier living in an area other than California which is in a drought and almost no snow pack and bemoaning the fact that Phil saw his shadow so no early spring), I  found these holidays to observe:
             1.
The Four Chaplains Memorial Day--honoring four US Army Chaplains who gave up their life jackets to save four men without them, maintained calm, helped  many men into the life boats, and with singing and prayers arms locked together went down with the USAT Dorchester, torpedoed in 1943 off the coast of Greenland carrying 900 men, only 200 of which were rescued from the frigid waters.

             2. Hold On To Your Wallets Day-- as we approach April 15, 2014 in mourning, note the passage of the 16th Amendment to the Constitution enabling federal income taxation and grab on tight.
             3. The Day The Music Stopped Day--dubbed by Don McLean in his classic song "American Pie" observing the death of Buddy Holly, Ritchie Valens, and J.P. "the Big Bopper" Richardson in a plane crash outside of Clear Lake, Iowa in a snow storm.
On this day in:
             a. 1916 the 16th Amendment to the Constitution was ratified, allowing Congress to enact a federal income tax (I wonder if any of the those living then had any idea of the complex, burdensome and confusing behemoth that would exist today).
             b. 1984 John Buster and his research team at Harbor-UCLA Hospital announced the first transfer of a living embryo from one woman to another resulting in a live birth.
             c. 2011 all unassigned IPv4 internet addresses were assigned to regional authorities; fortunately IPv6 has been introduced so we will continue to have growing internet access.
What to pray for? "Not for my return, that wouldn't be fair. Just pray that I will do my duty--never be a coward, have the courage, strength and understanding of men. Pray that I am adequate." Chaplain Polling, one of the Four Chaplains in response to his father's question to him before boarding the USAT Dorchester on what to pray for.
Kudos to the Seahawks for an absolute destruction of the Broncos--at least the ads were enjoyable as was the O'Reilly interview of President Obama during the pregame show.  Please enjoy the 140 character poems on events of interest on my twitter account below (if you like them, retweet and join almost 140 growing followers and please follow me) and follow my blogs.
