Ridley's Believe It Or Not-This Day In History-February 13, 2014 Desperation Day

Ridley's Believe It Or Not--February 13, 2014:  Before you stress out over a gift for your Valentine on Desperation Day (a customized poem by the Alaskanpoet is always the best choice--are you reading this as you are almost out time ?), take a deep breath, turn on Sirius Radio in the car and enjoy for today these factoids, quote and holidays:
             1.
Madly In Love With Me Day--whom better to treat to a Valentine's Day gift than yourself; the perfect counterpart to the nonsense of Desperation Day.
            2. World Radio Day--celebrating the importance of radio as a means of culture and communications since 2011, but in this crazy world of road rage and hair trigger tempers, if playing rap, try to keep the volume down.
            3. Get A Different Name Day--great day to change name you were given, especially to justify that, with changed name, the Post Office wasn't able to deliver the huge number of Valentine's Day cards you did not receive.  Added bonus, good way to avoid the process server.
  On this day in:
             a. 1914 in New York City, the American Society of Composers, Artists and Publishers (ASCAP) was founded to enable the monetization of creative works--a good thing.
             b. 2000 the last original  Peanuts cartoon was published the day after Charles Schultz died.
             c. 2001 The Harvard-Smithsonian Center for Astrophysics announced the discovery of the universe's largest known diamond, white dwarf star BPM 37093. Astronomers named this star "Lucy" after The Beatles' song "Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds". Millions of years from now unless DeBeers gets up there first to continue its near monopoly,  the diamonds here will be as expensive as salt.
Words to listen to on this Valentine's Day Eve. "All you need is love, but a little chocolate now and then doesn't hurt." Charles Schultz, noted American illustrator and creator of the comic strip Peanuts  Agree but would have added that a poem hits the spot also.
