       1. International Kissing Day—celebrating what has to be an interaction that is unique to the human species.

       a. 1919 the British dirigible R34 landed in New York completing the first transatlantic crossing by an airship.

       b. 1933 the first Major League All Star game was played in Comiskey Park with the American League winning 4-2.

       c. 1944 while serving in the U.S. Army Jackie Robinson refused to move to the back of a bus leading to his court martial at which time he was acquitted.

       d. 1947 the most widely distributed rifle in the world, the AK-47, went into production.
       e. 1995 in the Bosnian War, under the command of General Ratko Mladic, Serbia began its attack on the Bosnian town of Srebrenica and killed more than 8,000 civilians, in what then- UN Secretary-General Boutros Boutros Ghali called "the worst crime on European soil since the Second World War".
