Ridley’s
Believe It Or Not For August 6, 2018 Manafort’s expartner Gates who had entered a plea bargain testified that
he conspired with Manafort to commit bank and tax fraud while admitting that he
embezzled hundreds of thousands of dollars from him (talk about a credibility
issue); antifa thugs disrupted a breakfast meeting of Charlie Kirk and Candace
Owens at a Philadelphia café, pouring a bottle of water on Kirk (thank Maxine
for inciting thugs and if someone is maimed or killed as a result of her insane
incitement, blood will be on her hands); 20 antifa protestors were arrested in
Berkeley on Sunday in a demonstration that involved breaking windows of a Marine
Corps recruiting station; on the DUI front Doug France the president of NASCAR
was arrested for DUI and has taken a leave of absence from his office; 3 mothers
were arrested for child neglect of 11 children living in a compound in New Mexico
with two armed Muslim extremists; in a thank God for the 2nd
Amendment moment, an armed bystander shot and wounded a shooter who returned to
a back to school barbecue at a Florida park before his shots killed or wounded
anyone; despite routine denials by the left, significant numbers of non
citizens are showing up on voter registration rolls across the nation; Everitt
Jameson of Modesto, California has been sentenced to 15 years in prison for
plotting an IGIS inspired terrorist bombing attack at Pier 39 in San Francisco;
in a very bloody weekend in Chicago through August 5, 2018 1809 people mostly
of color have been shot by mostly people of color, of whom 292 have died (when
will Chicago get serious about this carnage or is this the case of true racism
as a Blue run city turns a deaf ear and a blind eye to the slaughter of mostly
people of color by mostly people of color and when will Emanuel who has been MIA
resign or be voted out of office?)
As always,
I hope you enjoy today’s holidays and observances, a music link to Elvis
Presley, factoids of interest for this day in history, the fact
that your obstacles are not montane, and a relevant quote from Noam Chomsky on

birthdays, weddings, or anniversaries, you know that the Alaskanpoet can
provide you with a unique customized poem at a great price tailored to the

3. 1957 Number One Song— the number one song in 1957 on
a run of 7 weeks in that position was “(Let Me Be Your) Teddy Bear” by Elvis
Presley. Here is a recording of the song: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NkDbk-egHH4
4. Word of the Day—today’s word of the day is “montane”
which means mountainous.
5. TV Childbirth—celebrating the birth on this day in
1911 of noted comedian and cinema and TV actress Lucille Ball whose gave birth
to her child on “I Love Lucy” on TV; a heavy smoker all her life she died of abdominal
aneurism probably caused by such smoking.
On
this day in:

being the first person to be electrocuted by the electric chair.

invasion and occupation of Kuwait.
e. 1991 Tim Berners-Lee released files for a
World Wide Web which becomes publicly available on the internet.
Reflections on
Hiroshima: I stated that Hiroshima and
Nagasaki are 'among the most unspeakable crimes in history.' I took no position
on just where they stand on the scale of horrors relative to Auschwitz, the
bombing of Chungking, Lidice, and so on.”
