Ridley’s
Believe It Or Not For August 13, 2018 Omarosa
has become unhinged in an anti-Trump bashing binge as she is promoting her soon
to be released book detailing her short time at the White House (talk about the
perils of dealing with a woman scorned, especially one with a tape recorder);
Tesla founder Elon Musk may be in hot water with the SEC tweeting that he had
funding for his plans to take the company privatewhen that fact may still be an
issue as one of the company’s top ten shareholders Fidelity filed papers with
the SEC indicating it had reduced its stake in the company by 21%; the FBI has
finally fired Peter Strock and Lisa Page but Strock had the gall to set up a Go
Fund page of $150,000 for legal expenses to contest the firing (he joins McCabe
who has sued for wrongful termination in the chutzpah race); while working on
road repair near Luxor, Egypt, workers have discovered another sphinx; Pelosi
has played the victim card claiming the media is out to destroy her chances of
regaining the Speaker of the House if the House flips (with her crumbs rhetoric
and Armageddon mantra she does not need any assistance from the MSM to sink her
chances); three West Virginia Supreme Court Justices have been impeached for
lavish spending on their offices; on the education or propaganda front teachers
in Newton High School have rejected calls for objectivity in their curriculum
and find it impossible to not espouse an anti-Trump agenda; Keith Ellison the
deputy chair of the Democratic Party who is running for Attorney General of
Minnesota is facing allegations of sexual abuse of a former girlfriend; Andrew
Cuomo has finally agreed to debate Cynthia Nixon in the race for governorship; in
Chicago while Rahm Emanuel continues to
imitate Nero playing the fiddle through August 11, 2018 1890 people
mostly of color have been shot by mostly people of color, of whom 305 have died
(when will Chicago get serious about this carnage or is this the case of true
racism as a Blue run city turns a deaf ear and a blind eye to the slaughter of
mostly people of color by mostly people of color and when will Emanuel who has
been MIA resign or be voted out of office?)
As always,
I hope you enjoy today’s holidays and observances, a music link to Neil
Sedaka, factoids of interest for this day in history, the fact that your
colleagues are morigerous to your ideas,
and a relevant quote from Emperor Hirohito on why Japan must end the war, secure in the knowledge that if you want to find a gift for any
memorable events like college graduations, birthdays, weddings,
or anniversaries, you know that the Alaskanpoet can provide you with a
unique customized poem at a great price tailored to the event and the
recipient. You need only contact me for details.
1. International Lefthanders Day—celebrated
by the International Lefthanders Association since 1976 to promote awareness of
the problems faced by lefthanders.
2. V-J Day—celebrating the unconditional surrender of Japan, thereby bringing an end
to World War II.
3. 1962 Number One Song— the number one song in 1962 on
a run of 2 weeks in that position was “Breaking Up Is Hard To Do” by Neil Sedaka. Here is a
recording of the song by a singer/songwriter who is still performing and going strong
at 79: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tbad22CKlB4
4. Word of the Day—today’s word of the day is “morigerous”
which means deferent which does not describe the MSM in terms of its interaction
with the president.
5. Born To Direct—celebrating the birthday on this day
in 1955 of British born director Paul Greengrass who has directed Matt Damon in
two Bourne movies and Tom Hanks in Mr.
Phillips.
On
this day in:
a. 1889
William Gray received a patent for coin controlled apparatus for telephones a familiar
device now rendered obsolete due to the proliferation of cell phones.
b. 1918
women are allowed to enlist in the Marine Corps for the first time with Opha
May being the first enlistee.
c. 1942
the Army Corps of Engineers authorized construction of facilities for the
Manhattan Project which built the atomic bomb.
d. 1961
East Germany closed the border between West and East Berlin and began construction
of the Berlin Wall.
e. 1969
the Apollo II astronauts enjoyed a ticker
tape parade in New York City and at a state dinner in Los Angelese were awarded
the Presidential Medal of Freedom by Richard Nixon.
Reflections on the
need for Japan to surrender: “Moreover, the enemy has begun to employ a new and
most cruel bomb, the power of which to do damage is, indeed, incalculable,
taking the toll of many innocent lives. Should we continue to fight, it would
not only result in an ultimate collapse and obliteration of the Japanese nation
but also it would lead to the total extinction of human civilization.” Emperor
Hirohito
