1. World Freedom Day —commemorating the fall of the Berlin Wall and collapse of Soviet rule over Eastern and Central Europe; federal observance started by George W. Bush in 2001.
2. Schickelstag Day(Germany-Fateful Day) —commemorating in Germany five important events that occurred on November 9—the execution of George Blum in 1848, the abdication of the Kaiser in 1918, Hitler’s failed putsch in 1923; the pograms against Jewish residents in 1938 and the fall of the Berlin Wall in 1989.
3. International Tongue Twister Day--celebrating the art of the tongue twister—try saying this one at great speed: “The sixth sick sheikh's sixth sheep's sick.”
4. Swamp Rock Day—celebrating the birthday on this day in 1941 of Tom Fogerty, co-founder of Credence Clearwater Revival who tragically died from AIDS after receiving tainted blood transfusions. 5. National Vanilla Cupcake Day—celebrating another habit forming snack.

a. 1620 Pilgrims aboard the Mayflower sighted land at Cape Cod, Massachusetts.
b. 1857 The Atlantic was founded in Boston, Massachusetts.
c. 1967 the first issue of Rolling Stone Magazine was published.
d. 1979 in a real scary event, NORAD reported a false alarm detecting a massive Soviet nuclear missile launch against the U.S.; fortunately NORAD quickly discovered the data was false and our countersrikes were cancelled---Whew!
