Glad to see they may have listened.       3.   Going in the Wind Day—celebrating the birthday on this day in 1900 of Margaret Mitchell, the author of Gone With the Wind, immortalized in Technicolor with Vivian Leigh and Clark Gable. 

      4. Tennessee Waltz Day—celebrating the birthday on this day in 1927 of Patti Page whose career included may great country western songs including, you guessed in Tennessee
Waltz and How Much Is That Doggie In The Window---great voice, silenced forever in 2013.

      5. National Cappuccino Day—celebrating another reason to spend time at Starbucks especially since they now allow their baristas to show tattoos.    

On this day in

      a. 1966 Edward Brooke became the first African American since Reconstruction to be elected to the United States Senate in the state of Massachusetts.

       b. To the joy of football fans, but not players, Lyndon Johnson signed a bill on this day in 1966 waiving antitrust concerns which allowed the merger of the American Football League and the National Football League.

       c. 1972 HBO began its commercial programming with a broadcast of the movie Sometimes a Great Notion, starring Henry Fonda and Paul Newman.

       d. 2013 Typhoon Haiyan hit the Philippines in one of the strongest typhoons to hit that country killing almost 7,000 people and resulting in over a billion dollars of property damage.

Reflections on Patti Page: ”What I like about singing is, that for me, it is a substitute for the psychiatrist’s couch.” Patti Page, amen to that; what a great voice, a true talent. Cannot imagine singing Rap music as being the same degree of therapeutic relaxation.
