Believe It Or Not—June 16, 2014: Totally skunked on holidays
and basking in the glow of Father’s Day unable to create one. Hope you enjoy
these meager few holidays, factoids and quote on fathers.

not the flowers blooming around us but the accomplishments of a great Irish writer
and poet James Joyce.

Fudge Day—celebrating not the
proclivity of our leaders to distort the truth but a great desert
On this
day in:
a. 1944 in one of our worst moments of criminal justice, George Junius Stinney,
Jr. became the youngest person at age 14 to be executed for murder.
b. 1981 President Reagan awarded the first Congressional Medal of Honor to be
awarded to foreign citizen to Ken Taylor, Canada’s former ambassador to Iran
for helping six American hostages to escape from Tehran. America—another reason
to rent the movie Argos and why this poet is proud to have had a Canadian
mother.
c. 2010 in an I will lead you
should follow moment Bhutan became the first nation to institute a total ban on
tobacco—when as thousands die each year from smoking will we follow?
