Ridley's Believe It Or Not-This Day In History-March 19, 2014 Kick Butt Day

Ridley's Believe It Or Not--March 19, 2014:  Trust everyone has filled  in brackets to enjoy the beginning of March Madness. Kudos to our President for going on ESPN and completing his bracket. Managed to find these holidays of note, but compared to St. Patrick's Day definitely second tier, to go with the factoids and quote.
              1. Kick Butts Day-- celebrated since 1996 to encourage youth to reject tobacco use and the deceptive marketing campaigns to lure the young into smoking without whom Big Tobacco  would cease to exist after all its customers were killed off prematurely due to smoking at the rate of 400,000 per year.
              2. Return of the Swallows--celebrating the return of the cliff swallows to San Juan Capistrano after they wintered in Argentina. Great weekend fun complete with parade this Saturday.
              3. Fertility Goddess Day--celebrated on the day before the Vernal Equinox and the official beginning of Spring (still a lot of skeptics in the East, given the amount of Arctic Vortexes endured).
              4. Minnie Canth's Birthday--celebrating in Finland social equality for women and the birthday of a notable Finnish writer and social activist.
On this day in:
              a. 1931 in a slogan that was to stand for years until Indian Casino gambling and Atlantic City, gambling was legalized in Nevada--"what happens in Vegas, stays in Vegas."
              b. 1982 Argentinian forces landed in the Falklands, precipitating war with and won by Great Britain in an amazing feat of logistics and courage by an outnumbered landing force of British soldiers--tribute to the iron will of Margaret Thatcher.
               c. 2003 justified by reports of  WMDs that proved to be false,American, British and coalition forces invaded Iraq to overthrow Saddam Hussein.
If you are looking for a quote to say to kids on Kick the Butt Day: "Smoking sucks! The one thing I would say to my kid is, 'It's not just that it's bad for you. Do you want to spend the rest of your life fighting a stupid addiction to a stupid thing that doesn't even really give you a good buzz?'"
Katherine Heigl, noted American actress and producer best known for her role as "Dr. Issy" on Grey's Anatomy.
