October 16, 2018 Ridley's Believe It Or Not World Anesthesia Day

Ridley’s Believe It Or Not For October 16, 2018 After Trump slammed Warren for her DNA report showing miniscule traces in the order of 1/1024 of Indian DNA (not American but Peruvian), the Cherokee Nation chimed in slamming her that DNA is not determinative of who is a member of the tribe (if anyone believes Harvard’s assertion that Warren’s claimed ethnic status did not influence its hiring of her is a complete fool—dishonest to the core is Warren consistent with the left’s mantra of ends justifies the means); in Arizona, Martha McSally in a debate with pseudo moderate Krysten Sinema slammed her for committing treason by supporting the desires of people to leave this country to go fight for the Taliban (Sinema may be best known for her 100 pairs of shoes but McSally is better known for her 100 combat missions—John McCain as a fellow pilot must be rolling in his grave over Sinema’s leanings); Ellison’s early lead in his race for Minnesota’s Attorney General race has rightfully evaporated due to sexual assault charges by his former girlfriend (another Blue hypocrite so quick to condemn improprieties of Reds but thinking they are immune from criticism of their own despicable behavior); in another example of the left gone totally crazy over the Kavanaugh confirmation, Maine police are investigating a suspicious letter mailed to Susan Collins that was alleged to have contain ricin, a highly toxic poison; Stormy Daniels defamation suit against Trump has been thrown out and she has been ordered to pay his legal fees (finally we may be spared of porn lawyer Avenatti  appearing on MSNBC and CNN  whose combined ratings were less that Fox News); Emanuel’s announcement that he will not seek reelection has not curbed the gun violence as through October 15, 2018, 2431 people mostly of color have been shot by mostly people of color, of whom 402 have died (when will Chicago get serious about this carnage or is this the case of true racism as a Blue run city turns a deaf ear and a blind eye to the slaughter of mostly people of color by mostly people of color).
As always, I hope you enjoy today’s holidays and observances, a music link to Jay Sean feat. Lil Wayne, factoids of interest for this day in history, the fact that unlike many politicians you are not neomort on issues of importance and a relevant quote from Khaled Hosseini on surgery without anesthesia, secure in the knowledge that if you want to find a gift for any memorable events like college graduations, birthdays, weddings, or anniversaries, you know that the Alaskanpoet can provide you with a unique customized poem at a great price tailored to the event and the recipient. You need only contact me for details.

2. World Food Day—celebrating the creation of the UN’s Food and Agricultural Organization to promote increased food production around the globe.
3. 2009 Number One Song— the number one song in 2009 on a run of 2 weeks in that position was “Down” by Jay Sean feat. Lil Wayne. Here is a recording of the song:  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oUbpGmR1-QM
4. Word of the Day—today’s word of the day as we move from words beginning with “m” to words beginning with “n”  is “neomort” which means one who is brain dead which probably describes to a tee the IQ on economic affairs of socialists like Ocasio-Cortez.
5. In A Company Of Three—celebrating the birth on this day in 1946 of noted TV actress Suzzane Somers of Three’s Company fame and now an author and promoter of nutrition products and life styles.
    On this day in:
a. 1909 President Taft and President Diaz of Mexico held the first summit between the two countries and narrowly escaped an assassination attempt by an assailant that was standing a few feet from Taft with a concealed palm pistol but disarmed before he could fire.
b. 1975 Rahina Banu, a two year old girl from Kuralia, Bangladesh, had the dubious distinction of being the last person infected with naturally occurring smallpox.
c. 1978 Karol Wojtyla was elected Pope John Paul II after the 1978 Papal Conclave, the first non-Italian Pope since 1523.
d. 1991 George Hannard entered  Luby’s Cafeteria in Kileen, Texas and shot and killed 23 and wounded 20 before killing himself after a brief shootout with police.
 e. 1995 the Million Man March which attracted 400,000 took place in Washington, D.C.
Reflections on anesthesia: “A doctor in a hospital told me that when the mujaheddin were fighting in the early Nineties, he often performed amputations and Caesarean sections without anesthesia because there were no supplies. Khaled Hosseini, an Afghan-American doctor and author of The Kite Runner. Cannot imagine how painful it would be to have a limb amputated while still conscious.
