Ridley’s Believe It Or Not For May 4, 2017 The House votes today to repeal and replace Obamacare so it can move forward on what this country needs—tax reform and cuts to get this economy off the Obama induced life support; Susan Rice is back in the news for refusing a request to appear under oath to be questioned on the growing unmasking scandal where over 1900 Trump supporters have been unmasked though no evidence of any collusion (subpoena this lying potential felon and if she takes the fifth ala Lois Lerner, Sessions should convene a grand jury to see whether she should be prosecuted); Venezuela, the poster child for failed socialist policies and a chilling preview of what the U.S. would become if the likes of Sanders, Warren or Harris get their hands on the reins of presidential or congressional power, is awash in riots over Maduro’s failed economic policies with 30 people now dead; the chicken game by Russia continues with two bombers for the first time escorted by two fighters approaching U.S. airspace in Alaska (Putin needs to understand that if U.S. is penetrated they will be shot down ala what Turkey did when their airspace was penetrated by a Russian jet); in yet another example of the lunacy of Kim Song Un and why this irrational person must never possess deliverable nuclear weapons, North Korea criticized its only supporter in the world, China of “grave consequences” if they continue to criticize its nuclear weapons program (China hopefully is working behind the scenes to effect a regime change whether by coup or assassination); Colbert is doubling down on his obscene pathetic rant against the president (Colbert should recall what happened to masquerading as a journalist Martin Bashir when he attacked Sarah Palin that she needed a Darby Dose—defecation in her mouth—he was fired as should be Colbert); 2018 will also be critical for the Reds to retain control of the Senate as rumors circulate that 80 year old Justice Kennedy may be retiring (with 84 year old Justice Ginsburg who is in frail health perhaps stepping down also); almost like a stuck record or a remake of Groundhog Day, Chicago style, the carnage in Chicago continued unabated in May with total shootings in 2017 through May 3 increasing to 1070 with the death toll stuck for the last two days at 183 (God help those poor minorities being shot mostly by minorities when the weather gets warmer and the shooters’ aim gets really better and there is more daylight to find and shoot victims) and yet nothing, absolutely nothing, appears to be occurring to address this blight on blacks and minorities which is what racism from a black mayor really looks like who appears to care only about the rights of illegal aliens in his sanctuary city (when will Chicago residents through the city council try to impeach this pathetic, inept mayor who seems not to care that 90 percent of the homicides occurring in his city do not result in arrest ?).

1. Star Wars Day—an observance created as a pun on “May the Force Be With You” the Star Wars theme and first celebrated by fans in Toronto, Canada on 2011.
2. Anti-Bullying Day—first observed in 2007 in Nova Scotia, Canada when a ninth grader was bullied for wearing a pink shirt on his first day of school. In the U.S. Anti-Bullying Day is observed on February 28/29. The United Nations has declared May 4 to be the day of Anti-Bullying Day; this is an idea that should be observed every day. If you see someone wearing a pink, purple, or blue shirt they are most likely observing the day.
3. 2006 Number One Song—celebrating the number one song in 2006 on a run of 5 weeks in that position “Bad Day” by Daniel Powter. 4. Word of the Day—today’s word of the day is “vomitous” which anything that is repulsive or nauseating which is a fair way to describe the gridlock in the Swamp or the fat lunatic dictator in North Korea.
5. Another Obama Failed Nation Building Attempt—celebrating the birth on this day in 1928 of Hosni Mubarak who ruled Egypt for 30 years with an iron fist but with cordial relations with Israel and was forced out by student protests and Obama’s insistence which as one might imagine blew up in our faces with a member of the Muslim Brotherhood Muhammad Morsi replacing him only to be overthrown in a coup by al-Sisi who Trump now thinks the world of (when will ever learn that we are not good at nation building or regime changes particularly in the Middle East?).
On this day in:
a. 1959 the first Grammy Awards were held in Beverly Hills, California.
b. 1970 at Kent State University, four students were killed and nine wounded, some walking to class, by the Ohio National Guard; none of the Guardsmen were convicted and in the civil wrongful death suits the State of Ohio settled for $675,000. Sad day in American history whose silver lining was further erosion of support for the Vietnam War that had been evaporating faster than a puddle in Death Valley on a July day.
c. 1979 Margaret Thatcher aka “The Iron Lady” was elected as the first female prime minister of Great Britain.
d. 1982 20 British seamen were killed when an Argentine Exocet missile sank the British destroyer HMS Sheffield during the Falkands War.
e. 1998 a federal judge sentenced Unabomber Theodore Kaczynski to four life sentences plus 30 years for killing three people and injuring twenty-three others from 1978 to 1995.
Reflections on bullying and the harm it causes and why today one should wear a pink, purple or blue shirt: “Bullying is killing our kids. Being different is killing our kids and the kids who are bullying are dying inside. We have to save our kids whether they are bullied or they are bullying.
