Ridley’s Believe It Or Not For May 16, 2017 As the world scrambles to recover from a major computer hacking assault some indications justifying more so than ever the need to eliminate the rogue nation of North Korea as the finger of possible guilt points to them; the main stream media is frothing at the mouth like rabies infected dogs over the supposed leak of classified information by Trump to the Russian Ambassador and Foreign Minister on the issue of potential terrorist attacks which all present to the meeting deny (come hell or high water the Blues and the media will stoop to any low or falsehood to remove this president); Syria is denying any charges that it has been systematically hanging prisoners and cremating their bodies (this thug Assad has the credibility of a sewer rat); KellyAnne Conway turned on the two most biased duo in TV, Mika and Joe, to defend her loyalty to the president (watching those two and their stooges on Morning Joe is a total waste of time in bias land); parents seeing the protests and PC bias at MIZZOU are pulling the plug and enrollment has fallen by 25% putting landlords in a bind as they cannot find student renters to fill their apartments; on the good news front a 14 year old has just graduated from TCU with his 11 year old brother following in his footsteps (one way to avoid the temptation of binge drinking in a fraternity); almost a stuck record or a remake of Groundhog Day, Chicago style, the carnage in Chicago continued unabated in May with total shootings in 2017 through May 15 increasing to 1185 and the death toll increasing to 205, a major tragedy that the powers to be in Chicago seem to completely ignore.

National Wear Purple for Peace Day—not sure where this observance came from but if it implies the color created by mixing blue and red symbolic colors for those members in the Swamp that refuse to cross the aisle to compromise and instead wage holy war on each other; this is an observance we should celebrate each and every day to end gridlock. 2. Biographers Day—commemorating the meeting in 1763 of biographer James Boswell with Samuel Johnson who would be the subject of his celebrated biography.

4. Word of the Day—today’s word of the day is “ianthine” which is highly appropriate for this day as it means violet colored and violet is a shade of purple.
5. Having A Father In The Business Helps—celebrating the birth on this day of Tori Spelling, long time star of Beverly Hills 90210 and now the mother of five children and a successful author.

a. 1843 in a bad day for Indians in the Northwest, the first major wagon train set out for Oregon on the Oregon Trail from Elm Grove, Missouri.
b. 1866 the Congress authorized the introduction of the nickel, which is 75% copper and 25% nickel but unfortunately costs nine cents to make which makes one wonder why it is still in circulation.
c. 1966 the Communist Party in China published the May 16 Notice which set in motion the disaster known as the Cultural Revolution that set China back years in terms of economic growth and prosperity.
d. 1988 in a what took you so long moment, the U.S. Surgeon General issued a report identifying that the addictive affects of nicotine are similar to heroin and cocaine.
e. 1991 Queen Elizabeth II became the first English Monarch to address the Congress.
