Ridley’s Believe It Or Not For April 11, 2017 Trump throws down the gauntlet to China, demanding they help in solving the fat madman’s insane quest for nukes or we will do it alone (with our feckless former president empty words but with our current one action looming behind those words); G7 meeting in Italy has not come up with a unified sanctions plan against Russia for its support of Assad (another problem we face thanks to the bogus red line in the sand that our former feckless president announced); the friendly skies of United are anything but that as the video of a doctor dragged off a United Flight goes viral (I hope he sues big time and collects and may after a defiant email from UA President Oscar Munoz was leaked—time to address over booking and time for a boycott of UA); while at the G-7 meeting in Rome Rex Tillerson was pleading his case for more sanctions against Syria and Russia, Blue representative Tulsi Gabbard was meeting with the criminal Assad in Syria and rightfully being slammed by some of her Blue colleagues; in another display that Ruth Ginsburg may not be all there, she assumed Senator Graham was a woman; Trump met with 20 high profile CEOs to promote tax cuts and repeal of Dodd-Franks (failure to achieve both sooner than later will be a disaster for the economy); almost like a stuck record or a remake of Groundhog Day, Chicago style, the carnage in Chicago continues unabated with total shootings in 2017 through April 10 increasing to 843 and the death toll rising to 155 (God help those poor minorities being shot mostly by minorities when the weather gets warmer and the shooters’ aim gets really better and there is more daylight to find and shoot victims) and yet nothing, absolutely nothing, appears to be occurring to address this blight on blacks and minorities which is what racism from a black mayor really looks like who appears to care only about the rights of illegal aliens in his sanctuary city (when will Chicago residents through the city council try to impeach this pathetic, inept mayor?).
As always, I hope you enjoy today’s holidays and observances, music links to Kenny Loggins and the Kingsmen, factoids of interest for this day in history, a relevant quote from Linda Ronstadt, vowing today to avoid being a vidiot, secure in the knowledge that if you want to find a gift for any memorable events like birthdays, weddings, or anniversaries, you know that the Alaskanpoet can provide you with a unique customized poem at a great price tailored to the event and the recipient. You need only contact me for details.

5. Freedom March Casualty—honoring the the birth on this day in 1925 of Viola Gregg Liuzzo who participated in the Freedom March from Selma to Montgomery but had her life cut short when she was murdered by the Klu Klux Klan driving a fellow marcher back to Selma to become the only known white woman murdered in the Civil Rights Movement.
On this day in:
a. 1951 President Truman affirming that civilians control the military relieved General Douglas MacArthur of his command in Korea.
b. 1961 after being abducted by Mossad in Argentina, the trial of Adolf Eichmann began in Jerusalem. He was found guilty of war crimes, sentenced to death and hanged for his role in the Holocaust.
c. 1966 51 tornadoes touched down in six Midwestern states, causing 256 deaths and massive damage to structures.
d. 1976 Steve Wozniak hand built the first Apple 1 and Apple’s rise to fortune was off to the races.
e. 2002 over 200,000 people marched to the presidential palace in Caracas, Venezuela to demand the resignation of Hugo Chavez and 19 protestors were killed; unfortunately for the country he and his socialism were not removed until his death in 2013 and his successor Maduro’s socialistic policies have brought the country to the verge of bankruptcy.
Reflections on the personal cost of Parkinson’s disease:“ I miss singing every day. I can't sing anymore. My voice doesn't work. I have Parkinson's disease, and it sometimes takes my words away from me.” Linda Ronstadt What a shame to be robbed of one’s creative skills.
