Ridley's Believe It Or Not—September 5, 2014: Trust
your Friday is proving to be a good one and that you enjoy the really dubious holidays
selected along with the factoids and quote from Charles Manson with a smile on
your sunscreened face, a positive
attitude and a slice of pizza at your finger tips, secure in the knowledge that

this case teachers in India.
2. National Shrink Day—celebrating those
purveyors of mental tune ups—psychiatrists; if you are going to see one make
sure you wear clean socks so you won’t smell up the session when you take off
your shoes and recline in his couch.
3. Never Turn Your Back On A Ford Day—celebrating the birthday on this day in 1847
of that infamous outlaw, Jesse James, who turned his back on one of his own
gang members, Robert Ford, and was shot dead in the process.
4. Bourbon
Day-–celebrating the birthday on this day in 1850 of noted distiller
Jack Daniel whose fine bourbon bears his name and is world renown.
5. National
Cheese Pizza Day—celebrating one of America’s favorite meals which dates
back to the ancient Greeks, but was only introduced to our palate in 1905 when
the first pizzeria was opened in the Little Italy section of New York City.

a. 1882 the first Labor Day Parade was held in New York City.
b. 1906 the first legal forward pass
in American football was thrown by Bradbury Robinson of St. Louis University
to Jack Schneider in a 22-0 victory over Carroll College in Wisconsin.
c. 1945 Iva Toguri D’Aquino, a
Japanese American aka the Alaskanpoet Tokyo Rose was arrested U.S. officials.
She was tried and convicted of treason and served 6 years in prison.
d. 1975 in Sacramento, CA,
Lynnette “Squeaky” Fromme, a member of the “Manson Gang” attempted to assassinate
President Gerald Ford. She was sentenced to life imprisonment and released on
parole in 2009.
How
someone could be attracted to Charles Manson is beyond me causes me to wonder
how Squeaky did not get off due to insanity: “I can't judge any of you. I have no
malice against you and no ribbons for you. But I think that it is high time
that you all start looking at yourselves, and judging the lie that you live
