2. International Chocolate Day—celebrating
the birthday on this day in 1857 of Milton Hersey, noted candy maker—not that
you need an excuse but great day to have a Hersey Bar without or without
almonds.
3. Uncle
Sam Day—celebrating one of the most
recognizable symbols in the world “Uncle Sam” since 1989 by joint resolution of
Congress; the date picked as September 13 was the birthday of “Uncle Sam”
Wilson in 1776.
4. National
Anthem Day—honoring our national
anthem written on this day in 1814 by Francis Scott Key during a British attack
on Fort McHenry.
5 Fortune
Cookie Day—celebrating the only way to end a Chinese meal hopefully with
a good fortune that comes true.

a. 1541 after three years of exile John Calvin returned to Geneva to reform
the church he founded under the doctrine of “Calvinism.”
b. 1814 in a turning point of the War
of 1812, the British failed to capture Fort McHenry.
c. 1899 Henry Bliss became the
first person to be killed in an automobile accident.
