Ridley’s Believe It Or Not For November 9, 2018 In Arizona as
votes uncounted keep coming in leftist Simena has taken a 9,000 vote lead over
the person who should be Senator Marsha McSally in a race still close to call
but with late appearing ballots already raises suspicion of vote tampering by
officials; in Florida Governor and Senate candidate Rick Scott has filed lawsuits
against Brovard County and Palm Beach County, heavily Democratic districts for violating
state law by failing to count properly early voting and absentee ballots and
leaking in suspect ballots (2000 déjà vu all over again with here a potential
attempt by Democrats to steal an election); Michelle Obama is back in the news
again with her new book preview slamming Trump for his birther controversy
putting her family at risk (chill out Michelle you are set for life and do not
need such nonsense to promote book sales); cons may be a despised segment of
society but when it comes to child abuse they have an intolerant mode as a
prisoner in Fort Worth, Texas awaiting trial for child abuse of kids travelling
on his kiddie train was killed by an inmate while in jail; Justice Ginsburg who
appears to be on life support fractured three ribs in a fall, raising questions
on whether and when she should retire; the Trump administration announced that
illegals not coming through a port of entry will be denied asylum requests (the
law needs to be passed that no illegal who has not requested asylum status at
the embassy or consulate of his or her home country and received it will be
allowed to request asylum status); Tesla which has been hammered recently by
Musk’s false allegations that he had lined up financing for a buyout is now in
the news again with an announcement that an officer has been indicted for
stealing $9.3 million from the company; Emanuel’s announcement that he will not
seek reelection has not curbed the gun violence as through November 7, 2018, 2614
people mostly of color have been shot by mostly people of color, of whom 430
have died (for 4 days in a row what must be a record no gunshot murder victims
but still when will Chicago get serious about this carnage or is this the case
of true racism as a Blue run city turns a deaf ear and a blind eye to the
slaughter of mostly people of color by mostly people of color).
As always,
I hope you enjoy today’s holidays and observances, a music link to Frankie
Laine, factoids of interest for this day in history, the fact that you
promote neogenisis and a relevant quote
from Thomas Martin on what needed to be done to construct the Panama Canal, secure in the
knowledge that if you want to find a gift for any memorable events like college
graduations, birthdays, weddings, or anniversaries, you know that the
Alaskanpoet can provide you with a unique customized poem at a great price

1. World Freedom Day—proclaimed by President Bush in 2005 to celebrate the collapse
of communism in Central and Eastern Europe.
2. National Microtia Awareness Day—created to promote awareness of the
hearing losses suffered by persons with deficiently developed outer ears.
3. 1949 Number One Song— the number one song in 1949 on a run of 8 weeks in that
position was “That Lucky Old Sun” by Frankie Laine. Here is a recording of
the song: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cHuf866KP_Y
Following a 75 year career the Sun finally set forever at age 93.
4. Word of the Day—today’s word of the day as we moved from words beginning with
“m” to words beginning with “n” is “noegenisis” which means the production of knowledge a skill that
we desperately need to solve the issues we face.
5. Depression Is Not One’s Friends—celebrating the birth on this day in
1922 of note African-American actress Dorothy Danbridge, the first African-American
to be nominated for an Academy Award for Best Actress, whose career did not
continue on an upward track and she died way too early at the age of 42 from a
drug overdose of anti-depressants.
On this day in:
a. 1906 President Teddy Roosevelt became the first president to
visit outside the United States when he visited the construction on the Panama
Canal.
b. 1967 the first edition of Rolling
Stone was published.
c. 1970 SCOTUS voted 6-3 against hearing a case involving a
Massachusetts law allowing its residents to refuse military service in an undeclared
war.
d. 1989 in the beginning of the end of the Soviet Union and
communist control over Eastern Europe, East Germany opened the checkpoints at
the Berlin Wall, allowing East Berliners the ability to travel to West Berlin.
e. 1998 a federal judge ordered 37 brokerage house defendants to
pay $1.07 billion to investors for damages suffered due to price fixing which
was the largest civil penalty in U.S. history.
Reflections on the construction of the Panama
Canal and the issues facing President Roosevelt: “I am sorry for you tonight,
Mr. President. You are facing one of the greatest decisions of your career.
Upon what you decide depends on whether or not you are going to get your canal.
If you fall back upon the old methods of sanitation you will fail, just as the
French failed. If you back up Dr. Gorgas and his ideas, and you let him make
his campaign against mosquitoes, then you get your canal. I can only give you
my advice; you must decide for yourself. There is only one way of controlling
yellow fever and malaria, and that is the eradication of the mosquitoes. But it
is your canal; you must do the choosing and you must choose tonight whether you
are going to build that canal.” Thomas W. Martin, Doctor William Crawford Gorgas of Alabama and the Panama Canal
