November 30, 2018 Ridley's Believe It Or Not Meth Awareness Day

Ridley’s Believe It Or Not For November 30, 2018 A 1964 Good Friday déjà vu as Anchorage, Alaska his by a 7.0 earthquake (fortunately no reports of tsunamis being formed like the one that hit Crescent City, California after the Good Friday earthquake); Secretary of the Interior Zinke has blasted Representative Grijalva as a drunken hostile Democrat for whom the taxpayers paid a former staffer almost $50,000 to dismiss a harassment suit after he wrote an OpEd calling for Zinke to resign (so much for a plea of civility and compromise when the person who should resign is Grijalva for his drunken and abusive behavior); at the G-20 Putin and the Saudi Crown Prince are high fiving it and Macron is caught on a hot mike lamenting to the Crown Prince that “You never listen to me.” In regards to Yemen; the welcome mat in Tijuana for the illegals is being yanked as the mayor demands that the organizers of the caravan be arrested while more illegals continue to head north; lady justice is nowhere blind as Clapper and Comey have lied to Congress with no adverse consequences but Cohen is prosecuted and has to plead guilty (when will this biased witch-hunt of Mueller in search of a crime end?); the Asian long horned tick first discovered in New Jersey has spread to 9 Eastern states and is raising concerns of the CDC since the insect is a voracious biter and can lay up to 2,000 eggs on its host without mating; Emanuel’s announcement that he will not seek reelection has not curbed the gun violence as through November 29, 2018, 2740 people mostly of color have been shot by mostly people of color, of whom 461 have died (when will Chicago get serious about this carnage or is this the case of true racism as a Blue run city turns a deaf ear and a blind eye to the slaughter of mostly people of color by mostly people of color).
As always, I hope you enjoy today’s holidays and observances, a music link to Lorne Greene, factoids of interest for this day in history, the fact that you have no need to dwell on nugacious issues and a relevant quote from an addict on the dangers of using meth, secure in the knowledge that if you want to find a gift for any memorable events like college graduations, birthdays, weddings, or anniversaries, you know that the Alaskanpoet can provide you with a unique customized poem at a great price tailored to the event and the recipient. e. 1999 some 40,000 anti-globalization protestors violently rioted against a meeting of the World Trade Organization catching the police by surprise and forcing cancelation of opening ceremonies.
Reflections on the dangers of meth from a meth addict: “Welfare money was not enough to pay for our ‘meth’ habit and support our son, so we turned our rented home into a meth lab. We stored the toxic chemicals in our refrigerator, not knowing that the toxins would permeate into the other food stored in the icebox. “When I gave my three-year-old son some cheese to eat, I did not know that I was giving him poisoned food. I was too stoned on meth to notice it until twelve hours later, that my son was deathly ill. But then I was so stoned it took me two hours to figure out how to get him to the hospital five miles away. By the time I got to the emergency room my boy was pronounced dead of a lethal dose of ammonia hydroxide, one of the chemicals used to make meth.” —Melanie

November 28, 2918 Ridley's Believe It Or Not Red Planet Day

Ridley’s Believe It Or Not For November 28, 2018 The Red candidate in Mississippi blew out the Blue by 10 percentage points to give the Reds a 53 to 47 majority which will help Trump in his quest to reshape the federal courts; Flake true to his name has seen his bill to protect Mueller blocked from a vote and true to form voted with Blues to block the Farr confirmation to go forward forcing Pence to vote in favor (what a joke this man is and although Sinema replacing him will be even worse, it will be great to see him gone); more and more Central Americans are heading toward Tijuana and the left continues to go ballistic over the use of tear gas against rock throwing illegals that tried to rush the border (nothing but silence when Obama authorized the same use); the good news is that many illegal asylum scammers are giving up and heading back to their home countries; the left is going over the top once again criticizing Melania Trump over her selection of Christmas decorations for the White House (this women of incredible class and taste has responded that the decorations look great in the face of Trump derangement syndrome); 203 Blues voted to nominate Nancy Pelosi as Speaker of the House but 15 votes short of what she will need to win election in January (as bad and partisan as she is her election will insure that the Reds will be galvanized in 2020 to retake the House); former AG Gonzales has blasted Mueller if he has been setting perjury traps for Trump (Mueller and his disgraced and rebuked lap dog Weissman are under growing condemnation over the duration and politicization of his witch-hunt); Madonna has not prevailed in her court fight to overturn by-laws of her co-op to ban her staff and children from staying in her $7.2 million apartment when she is not there; at the first stop of their 13 city tour, only 3300 people were dumb enough to buy tickets to hear this pathetic couple at the 19,000 seat Scotiabank Arena in Toronto; on the day Trump disbanded his Voter Fraud Commission a Texas Apellate Court upheld the conviction and sentence of 8 years  of permanent resident Rosa Maria Ortega for illegally voting for ten years (another example of why we need a national ID card to prevent this sort of nonsense); Emanuel’s announcement that he will not seek reelection has not curbed the gun violence as through November 27, 2018, 2726 people mostly of color have been shot by mostly people of color, of whom 458 have died (when will Chicago get serious about this carnage or is this the case of true racism as a Blue run city turns a deaf ear and a blind eye to the slaughter of mostly people of color by mostly people of color).
As always, I hope you enjoy today’s holidays and observances, a music link to Dale and Grace, factoids of interest for this day in history, the fact that you have no need to nubilate and a relevant quote from Margaret Thatcher on socialism, secure in the knowledge that if you want to find a gift for any memorable events like college graduations, birthdays, weddings, or anniversaries, you know that the Alaskanpoet can provide you with a unique customized poem at a great price tailored to the event and the recipient. 5. Monkey Business--celebrating the birth on this day in 1936 of Gary Hart a former senator and failed candidate for president whose campaign was derailed by a photo of Donna Rice on his lap on a dock during a yacht trip to the Pacific aboard the yacht Monkey Business.

November 27, 2018 Ridley's Believe It Or Not Giving Tuesday

Ridley’s Believe It Or Not For November 27, 2018 The mid terms will officially end today as voters in Mississippi are going to polls in a runoff for senator after Trump held two rallies yesterday for the Republican candidate (if she wins the Republicans will have picked up two seats); Jim Acosta is back and still up to his old antics, sparring with Sanders argumentatively and violating the one question rule promulgated by the White House; GM’s closing of plants and laying off thousands due to its discontinuance of its Impala and Cruze lines has raised the ire of President Trump who has raised the possibility of terminating subsidiaries; former Pennsylvania AG Kathleen Kane has been ordered to report to jail to start serving her 10-23 month prison sentence for leaking grand jury material then lying about it (pretty despicable breach of the public trust); Putin is back to his old aggressive tricks as Russia has fired on Ukraine’s ships and seized 24 sailors prompting Trump to threaten to cancel his upcoming meeting with Putin; on the pc censorship front Twitter was raked over the coals for permanently banning Iraq vet Jesse Kelly on the Tucker Carlson Show last night and surprise Twitter reinstated him (this sort of censorship has got to come to an end and the only tweets that should be banned are those inciting violence); the leftist MSM and Blues continue to go ballistic over the fact that the Border Patrol after being pelted with rocks and bottles used tear gas to disperse and angry mob of asylum scammers trying to rush the border; Emanuel’s announcement that he will not seek reelection has not curbed the gun violence as through November 26, 2018, 2723 people mostly of color have been shot by mostly people of color, of whom 457 have died (when will Chicago get serious about this carnage or is this the case of true racism as a Blue run city turns a deaf ear and a blind eye to the slaughter of mostly people of color by mostly people of color).
As always, I hope you enjoy today’s holidays and observances, a music link to the Four Seasons, factoids of interest for this day in history, the fact that you have no need to bring a noxal action against someone today and a relevant quote from Caroline Kennedy on kindness, secure in the knowledge that if you want to find a gift for any memorable events like college graduations, birthdays, weddings, or anniversaries, you know that the Alaskanpoet can provide you with a unique customized poem at a great price tailored to the event and the recipient. You need only contact me for details.
1. Giving Tuesday—created by the Belfer Center for Innovation and Social Impact in response to the commercialism celebrated by Black Friday and Cyber Monday; giving to those less fortunate is a great way to enjoy the gift of peace.
2.National Electric Guitar Day—celebrating the contribution to music of this unique instrument popularized by the late great Jimi Hendrix who was born on this day in 1942 but despite his talent was a heavy drug and alcohol user and had his cord unplugged for good after taking 18 times the normal dose of sleeping pills on September 18, 1970.
3. 1962 Number One Song— the number one song in 1962 on a run of 5 weeks in that position was “Big  Girls Don’t Cry” by the Four Seasons. Here is a recording of the song:  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y8yvnqHmFds
4. Word of the Day—today’s word of the day as we moved from words beginning with “m” to words beginning with “n” is “noxal” which means of, like or pertaining to a wrongful injury by an object or animal of another.

b. 1968 Penny Ann Early became the first woman to play in a professional men’s basketball game for the Kentucky Colonels against the Los Angeles Stars inbounding a pass to a teammate who immediately called a time out as the 5’3” Early returned to and remained at the bench.
c. 1975 after announcing a £50,000 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of IRA members responsible for shootings and bombings in the U.K. Alan Whirter, the co-founder of The Guinness Book of Records, was assassinated by the Provisional IRA.
d. 1978 San Francisco Mayor George Moscone and openly gay Supervisor Harvey Milk were shot and killed by Dan White who used the Twinkie defense to escape being convicted of murder to receive a 7 year sentence for manslaughter.
e. 2015 Robert Dear, Jr. entered a Planned Parenthood facility in Colorado Springs, Colorado and shot and killed 3 people and wounded 9 others before surrendering to a SWAT team; a judge ruled he was incompetent to stand trial and ordered him to be confined to a state mental hospital where he remains today.
Reflections on what this nation needs in addition to prosperity: “As much as we need a prosperous economy, we also need a prosperity of kindness and decency.” Caroline Kennedy. Wise advice from someone who has known tragedy in her family on something in our divisive society is totally lacking.

November 26, 2018 Ridley's Believe It Or Not Good Grief Day

Ridley’s Believe It Or Not For November 26, 2018 Finally some sense of rationality on the illegal alien caravan front as Mexico has moved to deport those who tried to overrun the border (seeking a job is not grounds for asylum and they should be deported immediately if apprehended); Ocasio-Cortez back in the news making a fool of herself comparing the Jews in Nazi Germany to the illegal asylum scammers in the caravan while celebs slam Trump for using tear gas on illegals charging the border fence in Tijuana; Beto O’Rourke that failed Texas Senatorial run dork now is considering joining the crowded 2020 field (he must have not spent a lot of the millions he raised and is feeling cocky); on the space front the InSight Lander has successfully landed on Mars and is beaming back photos of the Martian surface (the probe will analyze below the Martian surface as a prelude to a manned expedition in 2030); with no ability to obtain quid pro quo donations to the Clinton Foundation are dropping like a hot rock from $62.9 million in 2016 to $26.7 in 2017 giving credence to the pay to play accusations by Reds; Emanuel’s announcement that he will not seek reelection has not curbed the gun violence as through November 25, 2018, 2718 people mostly of color have been shot by mostly people of color, of whom 457 have died (when will Chicago get serious about this carnage or is this the case of true racism as a Blue run city turns a deaf ear and a blind eye to the slaughter of mostly people of color by mostly people of color).
As always, I hope you enjoy today’s holidays and observances, a music link to Jimmy Dean, factoids of interest for this day in history, the fact that you are blessed with nous and a relevant quote from Tina Turner on abusive relationships, secure in the knowledge that if you want to find a gift for any memorable events like college graduations, birthdays, weddings, or anniversaries, you know that the Alaskanpoet can provide you with a unique customized poem at a great price tailored to the event and the recipient.     Reflections on abusive relationships: “For anyone who's in an abusive relationship, I say this: Go. Nothing can be worse than where you are now. Ridley’s Believe It Or Not For November 24, 2018 On the wildfire front, helped by heavy rains,  the Camp Fire is now 95% contained as firefighters are slowly gaining ground and the death toll has risen to 84 with the number of people missing has decreased to 475; the House will hold hearings on the state of the DOJ’s investigation of the Clinton Foundation which has been heavily criticized for the pay to play scandal of Secretary of State Hillary Clinton while Comey has told the House to take a hike as he will ignore the subpoena if the hearing is not closed; Trump and Chief Justice Roberts are in a snit fit over an Obama District Court Judge blocking
Trump’s executive order on asylum as the illegal alien caravan begins to arrive in Tijuana; Schumer drew flack for condemning Justice Roberts’ decisions while praising for standing up to Trump; in a Holy Rollers moment Houston firefighters responding to a supposed church fire discovered no flames but a 100 illegal slot machines; the most overused word in the
English language was used after the airing of the 1973 Charlie Brown Thanksgiving since a black Franklin was sitting by himself in a lawn chair at the dinner table; the Fourth National Climate Assessment was released indicating that if there are not significant reductions in greenhouse emissions the U.S. economy will be reduced by 10% in the next 80 years; on the sports front Phil Mickelson birdied the 4th playoff hole to best Tiger Woods in their $9 million golf matchup in Law Vegas; sadly 13 year old Sandra Parks who wrote a prize winning essay on gun violence two years ago was shot and killed when two gunman opened fire on her house; Emanuel’s announcement that he will not seek reelection has not curbed the gun violence as through November 22, 2018, 2712 people mostly of color have been shot by mostly people of color, of whom 457 have died (when will Chicago get serious about this carnage or is this the case of true racism as a Blue run city turns a deaf ear and a blind eye to the slaughter of mostly people of color by mostly people of color).
As always, I hope you enjoy today’s holidays and observances, a music link to Elvis Presley, factoids of interest for this day in history, the fact that you can change the channel when exposed to nothous claims and a relevant quote from Alan Dershowitz on the Iran nuclear deal, secure in the knowledge that if you want to find a gift for any memorable events like college graduations, birthdays, weddings, or anniversaries, you know that the Alaskanpoet can provide you with a unique customized poem at a great price tailored to the event and the recipient. e. 2013 Iran signed a deal called by Trump the worst deal in history with the P5+1 nations calling for it to reduce its nuclear program in exchange for reduced economic sanctions.
Reflections on Iran nuclear deal: ““Most people today are not aware that British Prime Minister Neville Chamberlain helped restore Great Britain’s financial stability during the Great Depression and also passed legislation to extend unemployment benefits, pay pensions to retired workers, and otherwise help those hit hard by the slumping economy. But history does remember his failure to confront Hitler. That is Chamberlain’s enduring legacy. So too will Iran’s construction of nuclear weapons, if it manages to do so in the next few years, become President Barack Obama’s enduring legacy. Regardless of his passage of health care reform and regardless of whether he restores jobs and helps the economy recover, Mr. Obama will be remembered for allowing Iran to obtain nuclear weapons.” ― Alan Dershowitz, The Case Against the Iran Deal: How Can We Now Stop Iran from Getting Nukes?

November 21, 2018 Ridley's Believe It Or Not World Television Day

Ridley’s Believe It Or Not For November 21, 2018 On the wildfire front, the Camp Fire is now 80% contained as firefighters are slowly gaining ground and the death toll has risen to 81 with the number of people missing has increased to 870 with heavy rains forecasted for Wednesday which should help firefighters but hinder the search for victims and result in mudslides; the House will hold hearings on the state of the DOJ’s investigation of the Clinton Foundation which has been heavily criticized for the pay to play scandal of Secretary of State Hillary Clinton; on the war on women front, a federal judge has ruled that a Michigan law banning female genital mutilation is unconstitutional as it infringes on the freedom of religion clause (where in the Koran does it condone this barbaric practice?); on the political correctness front, Rider University in New Jersey notwithstanding an overwhelming desire of its students to have Chick-fil-A on campus has refused to allow the chain due to its corporate values (school alumni should boycott giving a single penny to this school); Massachusetts has opened two dispensaries for recreational marijuana; the House has passed a farm bill that imposes increased work requirements to receive SNAP assistance but the Senate bill has left the existing rules unchanged (with the unemployment rate as low as it is why the Senate is not following the House is a complete mystery recipients able to work should be required to do so); Emanuel’s announcement that he will not seek reelection has not curbed the gun violence as through November 19, 2018, 2692 people mostly of color have been shot by mostly people of color, of whom 452 have died (when will Chicago get serious about this carnage or is this the case of true racism as a Blue run city turns a deaf ear and a blind eye to the slaughter of mostly people of color by mostly people of color).

Reflections on Iran-Contra by one whose own scandal ended his presidency: “Reagan will survive, because, when all is said and done, Reagan can get up and say 'I am an idiot and therefore I can't be blamed,' and everyone will agree.I never had that option.” Richard M. Nixon

November 29, 2018 Ridley's Believe It Or Not African Industrialization Day

Ridley’s Believe It Or Not For November 20, 2018 On the wildfire front, the Camp Fire is now 703% contained as firefighters are slowly gaining ground and the death toll has risen to 79 with the number of people missing has dropped to 700 with heavy rains forecasted for Wednesday which should help firefighters but hinder the search for victims and result in mudslides; the Woolsey Fire is now 96% contained after burning almost 100,000 acres, destroying 1130 structures and the death toll still standing at 3; on the border security front, Trump’s executive order on asylum has blocked  by a leftist federal judge Jon Tigar, who must be in favor of declawing the Border Patrol and ICE  (the lame duck section needs to pass legislation requiring asylum seekers to apply at an American Embassy or consulate in their home country and if not or denied be subject to immediate deportation); Tijuana residents are not happy with caravan of migrants; on the voter fraud front that the left continues to dismiss, in Los Angeles, 9 people were arrested for collecting in exchange for money and cigarettes signatures from the homeless on petitions and registrations;  Dems are blowing the dog whistles of investigation on Ivanka Trump’s and her husband’s use of private emails in violation of federal laws requiring preservation of emails relating to federal business (Alan Dershowitz believes the issue is a nonissue but the optics are not good when Trump now faces an investigation mantra from the House next year); 43 members of the white supremacist gang Ghost Face Gangsters were indicted on drug trafficking and firearms charges; the Dow dropped 551 points ending the day with 2018 gains having been erased; salad lovers have been warned by the FDA to avoid eating Romaine lettuce due to a multi-state ecoli outbreak; Emanuel’s announcement that he will not seek reelection has not curbed the gun violence as through November 19, 2018, 2688 people mostly of color have been shot by mostly people of color, of whom 450 have died (when will Chicago get serious about this carnage or is this the case of true racism as a Blue run city turns a deaf ear and a blind eye to the slaughter of mostly people of color by mostly people of color).
As always, I hope you enjoy today’s holidays and observances, a music link to the Kingston Trio, factoids of interest for this day in history, the fact that you are fortunate enough to not be in need of nostology and a relevant quote from Sandra M. Stewart on the Bell System breakup, secure in the knowledge that if you want to find a gift for any memorable events like college graduations, birthdays, weddings, or anniversaries, you know that the Alaskanpoet can provide you with a unique customized poem at a great price tailored to the event and the recipient. You need only contact me for details.
1. Transgender Day of Remembrance--created by Gwendolyn Smith in 1999 to commemorate the murder of a transgender woman Rita Hester in Alston, Massachusetts and to promote awareness of the violence including murder the transgender community has to deal with.
2. African Industrialization Day—created by UN General Assembly in 1989 to promote awareness of the need to industrialize Africa and the difficulties faced in so doing in the second most populated continent on Earth.
3. 1958 Number One Song— the number one song in 1958 on a run of 1 week in that position was “Tom Dooley” by the Kingston Trio. Here is a recording of the song: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8jqO1fKqrWs
4. Word of the Day—today’s word of the day as we moved from words beginning with “m” to words beginning with “n” is “nostology” which  means the study of senility which sadly as we age is becoming more in demand.
5. To Run Or Not To Run With Or Without the Gaffe--celebrating the birth on this day in 1942 of Joe Biden, former senator and vice president, who is considering a run for president in 2020 at almost the age of 78 which would make him the oldest candidate and oldest president if he won. Surprisingly he leads a very crowded early numerous field of candidates from the Blues.
    On this day in:
a. 1974 the DOJ file its last anti-trust suit against AT&T which led to the breakup of AT&T and the Bell System.
b. 1977 Egyptian President Anwar Sadat became the first Arab leader to formally visit Israel to meet with Menachem Begin and address the Knesset.
c. 1985 in a control alt delete moment Microsoft released Windows 1.0.
d. 1993 the Senate Ethics Committee issued a stern censure for Alan Cranston for his dealings with Charles Keating.
e. 1998 the first module for the International Space Station was launched from the Baikonur Cosmodrome in Kazakhstan.
Reflections on the breakup of the Bell System: “The Post stated in its editorial “The AT&T Breakup in Restrospect” [Sept. 4] that, after 20 months, the score is still not in on whether the breakup has actually served the national interest. I disagree. After 20 months the score reads: Business 2, Media 1, Public 0. “ Sandra M. Stewart, letter to the editor of the Washington Post, September 19, 1985

November 19, 2018 Ridley's Believe It Or Not Women's Entrepreneurship Day

Ridley’s Believe It Or Not For November 19, 2018 On the wildfire front the Camp Fire is now 66 2/3% contained as firefighters are slowly gaining ground and the death toll has risen to 7t6 with the number of people missing has dropped to 993 with heavy rains forecasted for Tuesday which should help firefighters but hinder the search for victims; the Woolsey Fire is now 91% contained after burning almost 100,000 acres, destroying 1130 structures and the death toll still standing at 3; DHS has claimed that the caravan is not mostly women and children but young males of whom 500 are criminals (not sure how they came up with the number but any criminal is one too many and once again points up the need for a wall and to condemn the Blues for their resistance); on the Never Nancy front 16 Blues have signed a letter indicating that their majority was due to a pledge not to vote for her and they would not vote for her (how ironic would it be if she does not have enough Blues for a majority and has to cut a deal with Trump for the wall to get Republican support to be Speaker of the House?); thanks to Michelle Wolf’s crude anti-Trump performance the organizers of the White House Press Corps Dinner have deleted comedy from the event (predictably Michelle Wolf the “comedian” who is not funny, only a biased hack who performed last year, called them cowards); the White House indicated they will not appeal the judge’s ruling on Jim Acosta, the showboating pseudo-journalist from CNN, but indicated they were preparing rules of decorum and respect which Trump indicated that if Acosta violated he would be removed; Bill de Blasio who can’t manage a small snowfall was calling out for the government to own more of NYC in order to control where buildings go, how high, who lives or works there and the rent to be charged (when are the voters of NYC going to vote this leftist idiot out to pasture?); Emanuel’s announcement that he will not seek reelection has not curbed the gun violence as through November 18, 2018, 2679 people mostly of color have been shot by mostly people of color, of whom 444 have died (when will Chicago get serious about this carnage or is this the case of true racism as a Blue run city turns a deaf ear and a blind eye to the slaughter of mostly people of color by mostly people of color).
As always, I hope you enjoy today’s holidays and observances, a music link to Elvis Presley, factoids of interest for this day in history, the fact that you are fortunate enough to avoid nostrum and a relevant quote from David Scott on social media, secure in the knowledge that if you want to find a gift for any memorable events like college graduations, birthdays, weddings, or anniversaries, you know that the Alaskanpoet can provide you with a unique customized poem at a great price tailored to the event and the recipient. You need only contact me for details.
1. Women’s Entrepreneurship Day—created by Wendy Diamond in 2014 and observed by 144 nations to honor the accomplishment of women entrepreneurs and promote entrepreneurship among women.
2. World Toilet Day—created by the World Toilet Organization in 2001 to address the issue of lack of sanitation forcing almost a billion to defecate in the open. The observance was made an official UN observance in 2013.
3. 1957 Number One Song— the number one song in 1957 on a run of 7 weeks in that position was “Jail House Rock” by Elvis Presley. Here is a recording of the song by the man who was awarded posthumously a Medal of Freedom by Trump for which he received a lot of flack for being a racist award: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gj0Rz-uP4Mk
4. Word of the Day—today’s word of the day as we moved from words beginning with “m” to words beginning with “n” is “nostrum” which  means quack medicine which could describe the idea of single payer medicine the left like Ocasio-Cortez is pushing.
5. Where Would Trump Be Without Him--celebrating the birth on this day in 1976 of Jack Dorsey the co-founder of Twitter and the online payment company Square. Trump would not be Trump without his access to and use of Twitter but Jack may be facing head winds over his perceived stifling of conservative tweets.
    On this day in:
a. 1863 President Lincoln delivered the Gettysburg Address at the dedication of the Soldiers’ National Cemetery at Gettysburg, Pennsylvania.
b. 1985 Pennzoil won a $10.53 billion judgment against Texaco for its interference with Pennzoil’s contract with Getty Oil to but the company making the civil judgment the largest in U.S. history and probably dooming the careers of the lawyers who advised Texaco that what the company was doing was acceptable.
c. 1998 the House Judiciary Committee began impeachment hearings against President Clinton who became only the second president to be impeached but escaped conviction as the Senate voted on straight party lines not to convict him (which would happen if the House is dumb enough to impeach Trump with the resulting loss of the House by the Blues in 2020).
d. 1998 Vincent Van Gough’s Portrait of an Artist Without Beard was sold at auction for $57.1 million.
e. 2004 in the waning seconds of a game between the Indiana Pacers and the Detroit Pistons a fight broke out which really escalated to a mini riot when a fan threw a drink at Ron Artest who charged into the stands where a fight broke out between fans and players resulting in Artest being suspended for the rest of the season and four players being charged with assault and sentenced to one year probation and community service.
Reflections on social media like Twitter:  “You can buy attention (advertising). You can beg for attention from the media (PR). You can bug people one at a time to get attention (sales). Or you can earn attention by creating something interesting and valuable and then publishing it online for free.” –David Meerman Scott, best-selling author & speaker Twitter is even more powerful now that the 140 character limit has been increased to 280 but hindered by the proclivity of Twitter to stifle conservative tweets.
