Ridley’s Believe It Or Not For February 8, 2017 Great drama on the Senate floor as the rabid ideologue Elizabeth Warren was held to be in violation of Senate Rule 19 for demeaning a fellow Senator and lost her right to speak further on his nomination or the nomination of other Trump nominees as the Blues under Schumer’s dictates are doing everything in their power to delay and obstruct Trump’s nomination (the more they delay the longer it will take to get this economy moving again—they desperately want him to fail so they can hold onto their seats); Sessions was confirmed with one Blue Senator Manchin putting country ahead of party voting for him; if the Blues have any doubt about Judge Gorsuch’s independence, his comment about Trump’s attack on the 9th Circuit as being demeaning and demoralizing should allay those fears and cause them to support this excellent jurist; we are now reaping the sequestration seeds sown by our feckless former commander in chief as military readiness has fallen to all time lows with 60 percent of the Navy’s F-18 fighters not ready for service and 74 percent of the Marines’ in the same sorry state of affairs; the radiation levels at the Fukushima nuclear power facility are still so high that a robot can last only two hours before being destroyed; Keystone XL is nearing completion and the Army Corps of Engineers has given the go ahead to complete the Dakota Access Pipeline; talk about not getting value for your money for the parents paying $46,000 a year tuition at the Calhoun School in NYC to listen to the principal Steve Nelson complain that Trump’s election is more troubling the 9/11 or the Vietnam War (fortunately this idiot who to no surprise teaches journalism is retiring this year—not soon enough); as President Trump is raising the possibility of sending in federal agents to Chicago, the number of mostly blacks who were shot by mostly blacks in Chicago in 2017 through February 7 now totals 379, 59 of whom died but from Mayor Emanuel and the BLM nothing but the sounds of silence.

4. Word of the Day—the word of the day is “jungli” which means a person who is uncultured or wild which can describe the Blues behavior during the confirmation hearings especially by that ideologue Elizabeth Warren.
5. Trade Husbands In Like Cars—celebrating the birth on this day in 1921 of sultry actress Lana Turner who was a sex symbol of the 40’s and 50’s who was married and divorced 7 times, but was a heavy smoker throughout her life and died of throat cancer at the age of 75 with her daughter at her side.
On this day in:
1. 1837 after the Virginia members of the Electoral College went against the popular vote and refused to vote for him, Richard Johnson became the first person to be elected to the office of Vice President by the U.S. Senate pursuant to the 12th Amendment.
2. 1910 the Boy Scouts of America was incorporated by William Boyce.
3. 1922 President Warren Harding introduced the first radio into the White House.
4. 1971 the NASDQ stock index opened for the first times.
5. 1996 Congress passed the Communications Decency Act, its first attempt to control pornography on the internet.
Reflections on what constitutes success from a seven time loser: “A successful man is one who makes more money than his wife can spend. A successful woman is one who can find such a man.” Lana Turner I wonder how many of her husbands were successful; my guess is none which is probably why she kept divorcing them.
