February 17, 2017 Ridley's Believe It Or Not Random Acts of Kindness Day

 Ridley’s Believe It Or Not For February 17, 2017 President Trump came out swinging at his press conference, not ranting or raving but over an hour of bashing the media and answering a broad range of questions; nomination for EPA will be voted on today as Schumer’s minions theatrically try to prolong vote on Pruitt (while the Maine equivalent of Benedict Arnold has announced she will vote for him and two Blues look like they will defy Schumer and vote to confirm); after the Flynn resignation we are still rudderless in the important and crucial position of NSA as Admiral Harward declined the offer to take the job (how about retired general Jack Keane?); white guilt is still alive and well at the University of Wisconsin as the student group there is demanding that because of slavery, blacks should receive free tuition and housing; in perhaps another example of intolerance of the gay community a same sex couple wanting to marry and who were denied flowers for their “marriage” have prevailed in a antidiscrimination law suit against the florist (many florists in the town of Richland why not pick another one?); Trump’s pick for ambassador to Israel is the latest to fall under the Schumer crosshairs but should prevail easily (Blues who run afoul of the pro-Israel lobby are going to face wrath in 2018); in another example of how bad the hysteria among the left has become over the election of Donald Trump, a group of parents protesting the election have refused to allow their kids to participate  in an elite private schools annual skating party at Trump’s rink in Central Park forcing the cancellation of the event;   the number of  mostly blacks who  were shot by mostly blacks in Chicago in 2017 through February 16 now totals 437, 81 of whom have died but from Mayor Emanuel and the BLM nothing but the sounds of silence and the fact that of the shooting deaths in 2017  less than 3.5% of the homicide have cleared (no wonder President Trump was moved during his press conference).

Random Acts of Kindness Day—celebrating acts that will bring joy and a smile to someone that will blow you away from paying for the person behind you in a line for fast food to letting someone go in front of you at a grocery store (another observance that should be celebrated and observed more often).
          2. National Champion Crab Races Day—celebrating the time honored tradition of if it moves one can bet on it but here make sure there is a circular wall after the yellow ring so the poor crabs don’t get stepped on by the onlookers and can be retrieved in one piece by their owners.

          4. Word of the Day—the word of the day is “rawky” which means foggy, damp and cold which is the type of weather we get on the coast in Orange County in June.        

           5. It’s Hot—celebrating the birth on this day in 1981 of socialite Paris Hilton pal of Lindsey Lohan and Ivanka Trump who had her inheritance slashed when her grandfather donated the bulk of his estate to charity.

 1. 1600 in a bad day for science the philosopher, poet and cosmologist Giordano Bruno was burned alive at the stake for heresy in the Campo de’ Fiori in Rome.

 2. 1801 in the election for president there was a tie vote in the Electoral College and Thomas Jefferson was elected president and Aaron Burr vice president by the House of Representatives.

 3. 1933 the first issue of Newsweek was published.

 4. 1964 SCOTUS ruled in Wesberry v. Sanders that congressional districts have to be approximately equal in term of residents.  

 5. 1996 in a good day for humans against machines, world chess champion Garry Kasparov defeated IBM’s super computer Deep Blue in a chess match.
