Ridley’s Believe It Or Not For January 9, 2017 73 shootings in Chicago through January 8, 2017 and the mayor, governor of Illinois and for that matter the CPD seem totally helpless or maybe because most of the victims are black shot by fellow blacks indifferent (President-elect Trump hit the nail on the head and threatened to involve the feds although the proper response should be the Illinois National Guard and assuming Chicago withdrew its sanctuary city status millions of dollars to put more police on the streets); the elite came out in force at the Golden Globe awards to intersperse their acceptance speeches with attacks on President-elect Trump and true to form he could not refrain from tweet attacks back; great political drama by the buttercups in the Senate starting on Tuesday as confirmation hearings start on President-elect Trump’s cabinet nominations; another tragic black on black shooting in not in Chicago but Orlando where a true scumbag shown on the right who had been arrested 20 times in the last 23 years and was wanted for killing his pregnant ex-girlfriend shot and killed a female police officer shown on the left;
while Iraqi special forces appear to be regaining Mosul, ISIS released a video showing “Cubs of the Caliphate” executing prisoners by shooting them in the head or beheading them (when will the civilized Muslim, Christian and all faiths and nonfaiths in this world declare war on these fanatics and kill every last one of them now that Obama is soon to depart); the Iranians continue to play naval chicken in the Straits of Hormuz forcing a U.S. destroyer to fire warning shots (in no uncertain terms the U.S. should convey a real as opposed to Obama red line message that it this nonsense continues those Iranian vessels will be blown out of the water as a new and real as opposed to feckless sheriff is in town); in a sad note that the nonsense in academia that has terminally infected our universities is alive an well in Europe students at SOAS in London are demanding that white philosophers like Plato be removed from the philosophy curriculum because they are white; on a really sad not the hollowed out redwood in Sequoia National Park has been toppled by the recent storm hitting California.

4. 1960 Egyptian President Gamal Nasser commenced the construction of the Aswan Dam (completed July 21, 1970) by detonating 10 tons of dynamite to remove 20 tons of granite from the east bank of the Nile.
5. 2007 Steven Jobs introduced the iPhone to the public.
