Ridley’s Believe It Or Not For September 16, 2018 Hurricane
Florence has now become Tropical Storm Florence after leaving at least 15 dead
and a million without power in its wake as it continues to drench the Carolinas
and the Southeast with massive amounts of rainfall and flooding waters (stung
by criticism over federal responses in Puerto Rico after Hurricane Maria,
Pentagon has 9,700 troops to assist in relief efforts); on the Kavanaugh front,
the alleged victim of a high school sexual assault by Kavanaugh, Christine
Ford, a registered Democrat and professor at Palo Alto University, has come
forward with her allegations of a highly intoxicated Kavanaugh forcing her into
a bedroom and trying to remove her bathing suit which attempt ended when his
friend Judge, who denies the incident ever happened jumped on top of them and
rolled off the bed allowing her to escape through a bathroom window to remain
silent on the accusations until a therapy session with her husband in 2012 and
July when she released a confidential letter to Feinstein in July who sat on it
until last week after all the interviews with Kavanaugh, his senatorial
interviews, Senate Judiciary grilling, and written questions had ended (the
Blues want a full blown FBI investigation and a delay of Thursday’s
confirmation hearing while in the face of Kavanaugh’s and Judge’s denial and a
letter from 65 women who have known him from high school and support him was to
proceed forward which gives rise to the question of how possibly in a blackout
stage a non disclosed til now incident involving two teenagers four decades ago not repeated until now
disqualifies a person from serving in a public office even as those
sanctimonious Blues whose records in youth must be “lily white” proclaim women
must not be silenced); deer hunting will be allowed for 10 days on the National
Wildlife Preserve but fortunately for the gang that with rifles cannot shoot
straight permitted only with bows and arrows; on the false advertising front,
German Ironman competitor Jaroslav Bobrowski has been banned from the Running
Sushi’s All-You-Can-Eat Buffet at the Running Sushi in Landshut, Bavaria for
devouring 100 plates of sushi; in Chicago, Emanuel’s announcement that he will
not seek reelection has not curbed the gun violence as through September 15,
2018, 2196 people mostly of color including anti-gun violence activist Delmonte
Johnson a teenage leader of GoodKids Mad City gunned down on Wednesday while
playing basketball, have been shot by mostly people of color, of whom 355 have
died (when will Chicago get serious about this carnage or is this the case of true
racism as a Blue run city turns a deaf ear and a blind eye to the slaughter of
mostly people of color by mostly people of color).

of the need to reduce the production of chemicals that delete the Ozone Layer

4. Word of the Day—today’s word of the day as we move
from words beginning with “m” to words beginning with “n” is “nacket” which means a snack or light lunch,
the eating of which is a great way to lose weight.
5. Dollars for Pennies--celebrating the birth on this day in 1875
of J.C. Penny’s, the founder of a retail chain that bears his name. After growing
the chain to 175 outlets he retired in 1917 by staying active behind the scenes;
his stores survived the Great Depression by offering great value. He remained
on the Board until his death in 1971 amd must be rolling in his grave over the
depressed stock price for J.C. Penny’s.
On this
day in:
a. 1961

into the center of Hurricane Esther which then had wind speeds reduced by 10%
which gave rise to Project Stormfury, a
failed 21 year project of seeding hurricanes to reduce their strength.
b. 1979
in a classic example of the human spirit going to any lengths to be fee, 8
people in a homemade hot air balloon escaped from East Berlin to West Berlin.
c. 1992

speculators and was forced to devalue against the German mark.
e. 2007

relations shot and killed 17 Iraqis and wounded 20 others; after several
investigations 4 guards were tried and convicted in federal court, 1 for murder
and the others for manslaughter and firearms charges.
Reflections on Mexican Independence Day: “I am a servant of the nation because it assumes the
greatest legitimate and inviolable sovereignty." José Maria Morelos y Pavon priest who assumed the
Mexican Independence Movement after the execution of Father Hidalgo by the
Spanish shortly after his declaration of independence.
