August 9, 2017 Ridley's Believe It Or Not National Book Lovers Day

Ridley’s Believe It Or Not For August 9, 2017 We now face a threat of a nuclear armed N. Korea which Trump in no uncertain terms warned would be subject to “fire and fury” the extent to which the world has never seen before only to have Democrats like Schumer, Hoyer and even Feinstein attack him for rhetoric thereby giving the obese lunatic a reed to cling to that the U.S. will not act (Schumer, Hoyer and Feinstein need to get their act together—all hands on deck or face the possibility that an American city will cease to exist); after the antidiversity memo at Google that went viral, news that at least 60 former or current female employees are contemplating legal action for gender based pay discrimination; Niki Haley should be congratulated for pushing through sanctions on North Korea but it is doubtful that the sanctions will force a change in behavior or regime change; on the fishing front the FBI armed with a search warrant raided Manafort’s home in late July to seize documents and files; Seattle in its bid to out left San Francisco hit a speed bump when the Freedom Foundation filed a law suit to block its 2.25% tax on people earning over $250,000; Jim Chambers of EAV Barbell Gym in Atlanta in another example of the anti police bias fueled by BLM bans police and active military members from membership in his gym (what a misguided jerk who will be the first to sue if he calls 911 and an angry dispatcher hangs up on him); on the sexual assault front a Davidson County, North Carolina middle school teacher aged 50, Lee Ann Williams, has been arrested for having sex with a 14 year old student eight years ago (hope she is not married and ends up getting divorced); on the terror front another car attack in France with 6 French soldiers being run over by a suspect who was wounded during his subsequent arrest; through August 8, 2017, 2274 people have been shot in Chicago 392 of whom have died.

4. Word of the Day—today’s word of the day is “isocracy” means to have equal political power which is the foundation of our republic with its three equal branches of government (sadly with the Senate and its super majority rules gridlock sometimes occurs.
5.  Addiction Is Treatable and Beatable—celebrating the birth on this day in 1957 of Melanie Griffith noted TV and film actress who has gone through three husbands and struggled with addiction and alcoholism for years but now is clean and sober.
On this day in:

Reflections on the addiction and recovery from one who has experienced both: “The change for anyone who's been addicted to any mind-altering substances like alcohol or drugs is so great. And it's so great being straight. Now it's like ... it gets better all the time. [Recovery] was really a wonderful experience for me. It changed my life. It's hard. But I encourage everybody who has a problem to do it.” Melanie Griffith.  Please enjoy the poems on events of interest on my twitter account below (if you like them, retweet and follow me) and follow my blogs.
