August 14, 2017 Ridley's Believe It Or Not Victory Day

Ridley’s Believe It Or Not For August 14, 2017 The killing and injuring in Charlottesville by a very hateful person cannot be condoned but Trump once again is ravaged by the MSM for not specifically denouncing white supremacists and not ignoring the violent attacks by the counterportesters (if you want to look at the effects of rhetoric by the left look at the tweets of CNN’s Ana Navaro who asserted Trump “is not fit to be human”—is she suggesting Trump should be put down like a pet?); Costa another CNN employee disguised as a journalist was showboating as usual at Trump’s execution of an executive request to examine Chinese trade and trade secrets theft practices; because Trump had the temerity to condemn violence of both protesters and counter protesters, the president of Merck resigned from Trump’s job creation council—dumb move Fraser, dumb move; don’t hold your breath but China announced it was implementing the UN ordered sanctions against North Korea, even as Trump was signing his executive request on Chinese trade practices; we all know about the absurdity of the PC police but now we have to prepare for the FC police (fashion correctness) as the MSM is slamming FLOTUS, Ivanka and Ivana Trump for wearing high heels that are not comfortable and out of fashion but are admired by men (give me a break); add Venezuela to the problems that we face as Trump declares war on opioids which it appears Venezuela is involved in as Marco Rubio is rumored to be the target of a hit requested by Diosdada Cabello, one of the top leaders of Maduro’s party; Elizabeth Warren totally ignorant as always of the evils of socialism appears to be ramping up her 2020 bid by pushing the Blues even further left and away from the center); through August 13, 2017, another deadly weekend in Chicago with the number of people being shot climbing to 2330, 406 of whom have died.
As always, I hope you enjoy today’s holidays and observances, a music link to Katy Perry, factoids of interest for this day in history, a relevant quote by Magic Johnson on his birthday on manhood, disgusted that Congress is without izzat,  secure in the knowledge that if you want to find a gift for any memorable events like weddings, or anniversaries, you know that the Alaskanpoet can provide you with a unique customized poem at a great price tailored to the event and the recipient. You need only contact me for details.
1Victory Day—celebrating on the second Monday in August victory over Japan but now observed in only the State of Rhode Island.
2. Navaho Code Talkers Day—created by Ronald Reagan in 1982 to honor the contributions in the Pacific of the Navaho Code Talkers whose language was completely baffling and intelligible to the Japanese during World War II.
3. 2008 Number One Song—the number one song in 2008 on a run of 7 weeks in that position was “I Kissed a Girl” by Katy Perry. Here is her performance of the song: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WR3dBmGEUi4
4. Word of the Day—today’s word of the day is “izzat” which means public esteem or honor which sadly our Congress completely lacks.
5.  It’s Magic—celebrating the birth on this day in 1959 of Magic Johnson whose 12 year career with the Lakes was cut short in 1991 when he revealed he had tested positive for the HIV virus. He is now a successful businessman and proof positive that AIDS is no longer the automatic death sentence it once was.
On this day in:
a. 1893 France became the first nation to require motor vehicle registration.
b. 1935 President Roosevelt signed into law the Social Security Act.
c. 1975 The Rocky Horror Picture Show, the longest film running film in history opened in London for its first of many showings in around the world; the film is still being shown in theaters today often at midnight.
d. 2003 in Operation Thread Canadian security and police forces rounded up 40 Muslims, mostly Pakistani students on false charges of conspiring to commit terrorism.
e.  2015 the American Embassy in Havana was reopened after 54  years when the United States restored diplomatic relations with Cuba.

Reflections from the birthday boy on manhood: “Manhood is taking care of your family and being able to bless other people. Not yourself - but whether you can bless other people.” Magic Johnson  Please enjoy the poems on events of interest on my twitter account below (if you like them, retweet and follow me) and follow my blogs.
