         1. World Standards Day—creating awareness in the minds of regulators, producers and consumers of the need for standardization in the global economy.
          2. National Stop Bullying Day—celebrating the need to end bullying whether
in cyberspace or physically on the  playground or in the workplace.
          3. 1964 Number One Song—celebrating the number one song in 1964 on a
run of 2 weeks in that position Do Wah Diddy Diddy by Manfred Mann. Here
is a link to Manfred Mann performing Do Wah Diddy Diddy:
          4.  National Chocolate Covered Insects Day—this highly developed omnivore
will take a pass on this one.
          5.  First Lady Day—celebrating not Michelle Obama or any of the other living
First Ladies of this nation, but rather the birthday on this day in 1893 of
actress Lillian Gish often known as the First Lady of American Cinema whose
film career spanned over 75 years.
On this day in:
            a. 1908 the Chicago Cubs defeated the Detroit Tigers 2-0 to clinch the World Series which has not been repeated to this date.
            b. 1912 while campaigning in Milwaukee former president Teddy Roosevelt was shot in the chest by a mentally deranged saloon keeper John Schrank; consistent with his image of a bull moose, the shooting did not prevent Roosevelt from continuing speaking to the crowd.
            c. 1926 the children’s book Winnie-the-Pooh was published by A.A. Milne.
            d. 1958 in a what took you so long moment, the District of Columbia Bar Association voted to accept African-Americans as members.
            e. 2014 a snowstorm and avalanche from the remnants of Cyclone Hudhud killed 47 people in Nepal.
Reflections on bullying:  “Bullying is killing our kids. Being different is killing our kids and the kids who are bullying are dying inside. We have to save our kids whether they are bullied or they are bullying. They are all in pain.” Cat Cora, noted American professional chef.
