Reflections on cats especially for those feline owners who are not lucky to be upwind of their pets’ litter box: “Owners of dogs will have noticed that, if you provide them with food and water and shelter and affection, they will think you are God. Whereas owners of cats are compelled to realize that, if you provide them with food and water and affection, they draw the conclusion that they are God. Christopher Hitchens, noted English author, journalist and literary critic who after a life of smoking and drinking died of esophagal cancer, joking that he drank enough to kill the average mule and that most writers “ did some of their finest work when blotto, smashed, polluted, shitfaced, squiffy, whiffled, and three sheets to the wind."
