November 1, 2020 Ridley's Believe It Or Not World Vegan Day

Ridley's Believe It Or Not November 1, 2020

CV World Cases: The CV pandemic across the planet continues with 360,846 new ases (a .78%  increase compared to a 1.26% increase yesterday) to bring the total over  46 million to 46,762,710, 11,883,740 of  which  are active, 34,878,970 of which have been closed with 33,674,615  recoveries (96.55% compared to  yesterday’s 96.54%) and 1,204,355 deaths (3.45% compared to yesterday’s 3.46%) to continue the trend of increased recovery percentages and decreased mortality percentages.
CV USA Cases: New cases of 74,833 with total cases over 9 million at 9,383,739 (a .80% increase compared to yesterday’s 1.96%  increase) with 3,136,753 active cases of which 17,214 (.55% of active cases), recently on a disturbing upward trend with slight blips from a high of 19,155 on July 23  (16,163 yesterday and 15,881 on September 1), are in serious or
critical condition as trend has shifted and may be continuing to go up, and 6,321,819 closures, 236,384 of which have been deaths (3.74% compared to yesterday’s 3.75%) and 6,085,435 of which have been recoveries (96.26% compared to yesterday’s 96.25%) (our death rate percentages continue to improve and are finally in single digits since Cuomo repealed on May 10 his order sending CV positive patients to nursing homes and ADL facilities and on a deaths per million population measurement at 713 ranks behind Peru (1041), Belgium (1002), Spain (767), Brazil (751), Bolivia (744),  Chile (743), and Ecuador (715),  and only slightly worse than Mexico (709), UK (687), Argentina (684) newly added to the list, Italy (642), and Sweden (587) that never closed its economy down like we did and we have now conducted 853,922 more tests to bring total to 145,040,196 tests (now at 437,318/M compared to Russia at 421,361/M so Trump is telling truth that we conduct more tests in number and on a per capital basis for nations (other than those nations that contain small populations like Bahrain, Denmark,  Israel, Singapore and UAE) but for the U.K. which remains off the testing charts at 492,161/M).
Non CV Case News: Biden must be in a panic mode as he is coming out of the bunker to hold 2 “rallies” in Philadelphia which will be attended by very few supporters probably in cars honking to show their approval while Trump has appeared in Iowa and soon North Carolina before thousands upon thousands of boisterous and rabid supporters to end the day with 5 rallies (I watched Biden perform in Philadelphia and he seemed to speak even with teleprompters like an internet broadcast with extremely low download speeds pausing as if trying to remember what he was going to say); the Pittsburgh-Post Gazette has endorsed Trump in its first endorsement of a Red since 1972 astutely calling Biden “too old” and “fragile” to handle the job with “a very good he will not make it through his term”( as stated many times before a vote for Biden is a vote for the most liberal Blue Senator Harris); Trump has declared November 1 to be a National Day of Remembrance to commemorate those Americans killed by illegal aliens which has Angel Families overjoyed but fearful that a Biden presidency will mean amnesty for illegals; at his “rally” in Philadelphia pandering to the small crowd Biden crowed “I know Philadelphia well, I married a Philly girl, by the way, and by the way, I got my Eagles jacket on," evidently oblivious that he was wearing a University of Delaware jacket with a game hen on it which is that university’s team symbol; the head of the WHO is in self-quarantine after contact with a person who tested positive.
Chicago/Baltimore Gun Violence: In Chicago as of October 31,  2020, the number of shootings increased to 3,5610 of whom 609 have died (total travesty of BLM when blacks are shot and killed by blacks in droves and only sounds of silence and complete absence of any protests in front of City Hall demanding action to curb the killings and shootings); Baltimore with a fraction of Chicago’s population and hoping against all hopes that 2020 will not be a record in terms of deaths but now seems to be shooting less and killing less and is now 332 behind Chicago at 277 murders (when will Chicago and Baltimore get serious about this carnage or is this the case of true racism as a Blue run city turns a deaf ear and a blind eye to the slaughter of people of color by people of color and when will the left focus on the problem of color on color shootings in Blue run cities which  have  been way  more  deadly and way more numerous than shootings by  police or by random mass shootings which occur far much less.

        1.  National Brush Day—created in 2013 by the Partnership for Healthy Mouths, Healthy Lives to promote proper teeth brushing to prevent cavities, especially important after all the sugar consumed after Halloween by trick or treaters on a non CV pandemic year.
        2.  World Vegan Day—created by Louise Wallis, the Chair of the Vegan Society in 1994  to commemorate the founding of the organization in 1944 and to promote the benefits both to the participants of a vegan diet and the animals who are no longer consumed by omnivores who are now converted to vegans.

       3. 2005 Number One Song— the number 1 song in 2005 on a run of 10 weeks was “Gold Digger” by Kanye West feat. Jamie Foxx  to join 7 other songs that made the number 1 list. Here is a recording of the song: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6vwNcNOTVzY&list=RDjEgSjqMRVKc&index=3
        4. Word of the Day—today’s word of the day is “polysarcous” which means obese which describes a condition that far  too many Americans suffer with serious life threatening consequences like diabetes and coronaries.

       5. Big Job To Fill Shoes--celebrating the birth on this day in 1960 of Tim Cook, who became the Chief Executive Officer of Apple on August 24, 2011 prior to Steve Jobs’ death from prostate cancer on October 5, 2011. Cook is the first openly gay CEO of a Fortune 500 Company and under his tenure has doubled Apple’s revenue and profits and has seen its market cap rise to become the first U.S. company to reach $2 trillion.

    On this day in:

        a. 1950 Puerto Rican Nationalists Griselio Torresola and Oscar Cozallo broke into the Blair House where President Truman was staying while the White House was being renovated in a failed attempt to assassinate him but were foiled by White House Police Officer Leslie Coffelt who although mortally wounded shot and killed Torresola as Secret Service agents charging to the sound of gunfire wounded Cozallo who was convicted and sentenced to death, a penalty which he escaped as Truman a believer in Puerto Rican plebiscite to determine its status commuted his sentence to life and 1979 Jimmy Carter commuted his sentence to time served to release him to return to Puerto Rico and die in 1994.

         b. 1955 after John Graham had packed a dynamite bomb in his mother’s luggage before she boarded United Airlines Flight 629 in Denver bound for Seattle, the plane blew up in mid air near Longmont, Colorado, killing his mother and all 38 other passengers and 5 crew in revenge for her putting him in an orphanage as small child and to collect insurance. He was caught, tried, convicted and executed in the gas chamber on January 11, 1957 after showing no remorse.

         c. 1968 the Motion Pictures Association of America rating system with classifications of G, M, R and X was introduced.

         d. 1973 the march to the eventual resignation of President Richard Nixon continued with Leon Jaworski appointed as the replacement Watergate Special Prosecutor.
         e. 1982 Honda became the first Asian car company to begin producing cars in the U.S. when it opened its factory in Marysville, Ohio, producing Honda Accords.

Reflections on being subject to a deadly assassination attempt: ”It was a most unnecessary happening over there at the Blair House and the people who really got hurt were wonderful men. The two men who did the job were just as stupid as they could be. I know I could organize a better program than the one they put on. They came nowhere near their objective - one of them faces the gallows and the other one is dead, although they did injure two good Guards and kill another one unnecessarily.” President Harry S. Truman in a letter to Secretary of State Dean Acheson November 2, 1950.
