Ridley’s Believe It Or Not For January 2, 2020 U.S. airstrikes in Baghdad have killed Iranian General Qassim Soleimani, believed to be one of the most pro terrorist supporters in Iran’s military, along with several other high ranking officers ; the noose may be tightening around McCabe’s as a transcript of his conversation with a FBI agent obtained by a FOIA request reveals him apologizing for concealing a leak to the press on Hillary’s email; Lisa Page has joined the chutzpah derby with Peter Strzok by filing suit against the FBI and DOJ for releasing her salacious text messages with Peter Strzok, claiming invasion of privacy and damages for the cost of therapy she has incurred as a result of being publicly mocked by Trump; in something that looks like a day late and a dollar short the FISA Court which has demanded the DOJ re-verify the FISA warrant applications involving misleading statements by a FBI lawyer but has not included any other individuals alleged by Horowitz to be guilty of wrong doing in the surveillance of Carter Paige; after the attacks in Syria by U.S. warplanes in response to the killing of an American contractor by Iran backed militia, Obama’s inexperienced former adviser predictably lashed out at Trump, calling him a danger and a joke; one of the few bright spots with fresh ideas however misguided Marianne Williamson has announced the termination of all her campaign staff workers but vows she is still in the race; USA Today’s Columnist Elvia Diaz is being rightfully mocked for criticizing church goers in the Fort Worth church shooting for being armed (here the alternative would have been multiple fatalities among the innocents); another open border adherent for president Julian Castro has called it quits and ended his Quixote campaign; De Blasio thankfully no longer running for president but still making a fool out of himself for his public attacks on Domino’s for selling $30 pizzas in Times Square on New Year’s Eve; in Chicago with a new interim police chief now having to replace a fired police chief, as of December 31, 2019, 2754 have been shot, of whom, 461 have died a 7% decrease over last year and in a minor miracle no deaths reported on the last and first day of the year; Baltimore with a fraction of Chicago’s population, has started 2020 with 1 death and came in first place in 2019 in the amount of gun deaths as 348 have been murdered, a number which has the dubious distinction of passing all of 2014’s deaths, 2016’s 318 deaths and 2017’s and 2015’s previous record of 342 (when will Chicago and Baltimore get serious about this carnage or is this the case of true racism as a Blue run city turns a deaf ear and a blind eye to the slaughter of people of color by people of color and when will the left focus on the problem of color on color shootings in Blue run cities which have been more deadly and more numerous than random mass shootings?).

5. End of an Era--celebrating the birth on this day in 1983 of noted actress Kate Bosworth who played Lois Lane in the 6th and final Superman series of films.
On this day in:
a. 1905 after a siege of Port Arthur that commenced in April of 1904, and resulted in the sinking or scuttling of all 5 Russian battleships blockaded in the harbor, the Russian commander surrendered the city to the Japanese.
b. 1920 in a dark day for civil liberties the Second Palmer Raid by the DOJ resulted in a national roundup of 3,000 immigrants believed to be Communists and anarchists many whom were held without trial and subjected to deportation.
c. 1942 the FBI obtained the conviction of 33 members of the German spy ring headed by Fritz Duquesne in the largest espionage case in U.S. history with the convicted members sentenced to an aggregate of 300 years in prison.
d. 1967 Ronald Reagan is sworn in as Governor of California after defeating two term Governor Pat Brown.
e. 1974 President Nixon signed legislation lowering the speed limit on U.S. highways to 55 m.p.h. to conserve gasoline due to the OPEC Embargo.
Reflections on the Palmer Raids: "It seems to me that the policy of raids against large numbers of individuals is generally unwise and very apt to result in injustice. People not really guilty are likely to be arrested and railroaded through their hearings...We appear to be attempting to repress a political party...By such methods, we drive underground and make dangerous what was not dangerous before." Francis Fisher Kane, U.S. Attorney for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania in his resignation letter of protest to President Wilson and Attorney General Palmer.
