Ridley’s Believe It Or Not For September 1, 2019 Hurricane
Dorian is now packing a CAT 5 punch as it is hitting the Bahamas with 185 mph winds
before hitting Florida (1 can only pray Floridians are heeding warnings and beginning
to move to safety and only property is damaged or lost as opposed to lives); here
is what the eye of the hurricane looks like from a hurricane reporting plane
with a very brave or foolish crew aboard:
Newsom’s idea of voter suppression has the Reds
in California up in arms and litigation as they fear statute barring president,
vice president and governor on primary ballot unless tax returns are filed will
keep down ballot voters home and with California banana republic primary laws
where first 2 vote getters go to general regardless of party will result in
further decimation of the Republican Party in this 1 party state; death toll in
mass shootings in West Texas on Saturday has risen to 7 with 1 wounded in
serious condition still (wounded still recovering and funerals not yet planned
and already the left is beating drums for more control); an Orlando man
suffering from a case of necrosis fasciitis bacterial infection had over 25% of
his skin removed in an unsuccessful attempt to stop the flesh eating bacteria
and died; biased Chuck Todd of NBC is trying to put a spin on Biden’s gaffes
the most recent of which is “illegal alien children become American citizens
sooner than Americans do” by comparing them to Trump’s “lies” (pathetic Chuck
and ignores the real possibility that Biden has lost it mentally); despite
indications of progress on settling the China U.S. Trade War, both sides are
playing chicken as billions of tariffs go into effect today (sadly this is
behavior especially in the field of intellectual property theft by the Chinese
that should have been confronted years ago; Debra Messing doubles down on HRC’s
characterization of Trump supporters as “deplorables” by supporting a
Birmingham, Alabama black church’s sign
claiming Trump black supporters are “mentally ill” and support racism
(hopefully blacks enjoying the lowest unemployment in decades despite competing
with a flood of lower paid illegals will react by channel clicking this inane
anti-Trumpster); in order to avoid having to sing “Bye Bye Miss American Pie”
to his 25 year old former Playboy model Paris Dylan has been spending over
$300,000 on trips last year with her; in Chicago through August 31, 2019, 1876
have been shot of whom 318 have died and in Baltimore with a fraction of
Chicago’s population, 227 have been murdered in Baltimore (when will Chicago
get serious about this carnage or is this the case of true racism as a Blue run
city turns a deaf ear and a blind eye to the slaughter of people of color by
people of color?).
As always, I hope you enjoy today’s holidays and
observances, a music link to Sean Kingston, factoids of interest for
this day in history, the fact that you are free of podobromhydosis and a
relevant quote from Marianne Williamson altered to compare her campaign to the
Titantic, secure in the knowledge that if you want to find a gift for any
memorable events like Father’s Day, college graduations, birthdays, weddings,
or anniversaries, you know that the Alaskanpoet can provide you with a
unique customized poem at a great price tailored to the event and the
recipient. You need only contact me for details.
2. Emma M. Nutt Day—celebrating the hiring of the first telephone operator who was
recruited by Alexander Graham Bell who
held that position at the Boston Dispatch and Telephone Company for 33 years.
4. Word of the Day—today’s word of the day is “podobromhydrosis” which means
smelly feet which is something to avoid.
5. It’s All In The Name—celebrating the birth on this day in 1933 of noted singer and
songwriter Harold Lloyd Jenkins better known to his fans as Conway Twitty so
named from two places on a roadmap—Conway, Arkansas and Twitty, Texas. He was a
smoker for 20 years but managed to quit and died way too early at the age of 59
following surgery earlier the preceding afternoon on the morning of June 4,
1993 of an abdominal aortic aneurysm.
On this day in:
b. 1957 Iceland unilaterally
expanded its territorial fishing zone to 4 miles putting it in conflict in the
U.K. and precipitating the first of three Cod Wars which as a result of Iceland
threatening to withdraw from NATO which would have been disastrous to NATO
Soviet submarine monitoring efforts finally ended with the U.K. agreeing to a
200 mile exclusionary fishing zone which has become standard in the United
Nations.
c. 1970 Palestinian
guerrillas attempted and failed to assassinate Jordan’s King Hussein while he
was traveling in his motorcade.
d. 1983 Korean Airlines Flight 007, a large 747 dwarfing the
size of a U.S. bomber and fighter, was shot down when it temporarily and inadvertently
invaded Soviet air space, killing all 297 aboard, including U.S. Congress
Lawrence MacDonald.
