Ridley’s
Believe It Or Not For June 22, 2019 The Dominican Republic is reaping the results
of that nation’s stonewalling of the mysterious 11 deaths of American tourists
there under mysterious circumstances as flights to the island are suffering
massive cancellation of flights; 7 motorcyclists were killed and 3 injured when
a pickup truck ran into them on a rural highway in New Hampshire; Trump who
called off a retaliatory air strike against Iranian missile sites over concerns
of Iranian causalities is still getting no slack from MSM in a classic he’s
damned if he bombs and damned if he doesn’t moment while Blues are gloating
that pressure from the Blues in Congress thwarted the strike (Iran has not
learned its lesson and if Americans are killed by Iranian military action, God
help them as the response will be massive and lethal); despite the howls of
Blues wanting open borders and protecting violent illegal alien criminals,
Trump has pushed back on Blue criticism as ICE raids will be removing illegals
from many sanctuary cities in this country and be deported (sadly, due to Blue
resistance on the wall and to passage of Kate’s Law many of them will be back
to practice their criminal activity) but in what probably be a vain, failed attempt
to gain border security consensus will postpone the raids for two weeks; Bill
Maher is pushing the idea the Oprah Winfrey is the only person who can beat
Trump in 2020 although she disclaims any presidential aspirations; Oregon with
its State Police on the hunt to arrest Republican State Senators who have fled the
state to prevent a quorum to pass a job killing green deal, has closed the
Senate due to a right wing militia threat against the Capitol; in a reverse Goldilocks
scene, a black bear broke into a home in Butler Creek, Montana and was sleeping
in the closet before police and fish and game personnel were called to
tranquilize and remove the bear; on the PC Wars front the University of Santa
Clara was forced to remove a bell marking the El Camino Real that connected the
21 Catholic Missions in California (almost like the Soviet Union airbrushing
photos of disgraced leaders overlooking Red Square); a study has just come out
that all college students and their parents should read which shows highest and
lowest unemployment rates https://www.foxbusiness.com/features/these-are-the-college-majors-with-the-highest-and-lowest-unemployment-rates;
Connecticut realing under a massive budget deficit has unveiled a new basket of
increased taxes including a conveyance tax of 2.5 on sales of homes over $2.5 million
if and only if the seller then moves out of the state to escape its crushing
tax burder; through June 21, 2019 1162 people have been shot in
Chicago of whom 220 have died (what makes the Smollett case so frustrating and
why the appointment of a special prosecutor should be applauded, is that it forced the city of Chicago to
allocate scarce detective resources when in only 9% of the shootings resulting
in murder have a suspect being charged this year).
1. Windrush
Day—celebrated in the U.K. since 2018 to commemorate the contributions
of West Indies residents who migrated from the West Indies following World War
II and is so called since the troop ship HMT
Empire Windrush after docking in
Jamaica with ads promising reduced fares to the U.K. on this day in 1948
disembarked 802 migrants.
2. National
HVAC Tech Day—created by ARS/ Rescue Services, a national provider of home
services on 2016 to honor the efforts of those who keep us cool during late
spring, summer and early fall and warm during late fall, winter
and early spring.
3. 1951 Number One Song—the
number one song on this day in 1951 for 5 weeks in that position was “Too Young”
by Nat King Cole. Here is a recording of the song: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KaFtsqU2V6U Prophetic title for a song as this heavy
smoker who died of lung cancer at age 45 on February 15, 1965.
4. Word
of the Day—today’s word of the day as we move from words beginning with “o”
to words beginning with “p” is “peripetia” which means a sudden change in
fortune which is something all liberal and progressive Blues are praying for in
2020 but not by moderate Blues and independents who are relishing in the Trump
economy.
5. Pollen
Kills:—celebrating the birth on this day in 1981 of noted self-taught
animator Monty Oum who sadly went into a coma following an allergy maintenance
shot on January 22, 2015 and died without regaining consciousness on February
1, 2015.

On
this day
in:
a. 1941 in a move that
would doom the Third Reich, Hitler launched Operation Barbarossa and invaded
the Soviet Union..
b. 1944 President
Roosevelt signed the bill that led at an explosion of college students, the Servicemen’s
Readjustment Act of 1944 or as more commonly known, the G.I. Bill.
c. 1969 the Cuyahoga
River running through Cleveland once again caught fire drawing the nation’s
attention to the growing problem of water pollution and aiding in the passage
of the Clean Water Act and the creation of the Environmental Protection Agency.
d. 1984 Virgin Atlantic
Airways took off with its inaugural flight from Gatwick Airport in London.
e. 1990 Checkpoint Charley
manned by U.S. troops in Berlin was dismantled.
Reflections
on the fact that Hitler listened only to himself and not Stalin and was
therefore doomed to failure in his invasion of the Soviet Union: “You only have to kick in the door and the whole rotten
structure will come crashing down,” Adolf Hitler, June 1941. Sadly
for the Germans it did not as they had dismissed Stalin’s hold over his troops “In
the Soviet Army it takes more courage to retreat than to advance,” as Political
Commissars in the rear lines executed Soviet soldiers who retreated in the face
of the German onslaught.
