October 3, 2017 Ridley's Believe It Or Not National Techie Day

Ridley’s Believe It Or Not For October 3, 2017 The death toll in Vegas has climbed to 59 as more information is starting to dribble out that Stephen Paddock had managed to bring 23 guns into his hotel room after checking in four days earlier and some of those guns had been altered to become fully automatic;  police are waiting for the return from the Philippines of Paddock’s girlfriend while doing pedal to the metal investigation trying to determine motive on what looks like a very planned attempt to kill a lot of people; Trump is in Puerto Rico assessing firsthand the damage and the needs of Puerto Rico and will go to Vegas to meet with survivors and first responders; doubtful that all of the victims have made it to the morgue yet and the chief Swamp rat Chuck Schumer has already politicized the event by you guessed it calling for more gun control (give it a rest Chuck at least have the decency and respect for the living to allow police to determine motive and the victims be buried or cremated); in yet another display of a complete loss of decency by the left Blue Reps Clark and Moulton of Massachusetts boycotted a moment of silence for the victims in the House today (Pelosi show some of that iron handed ruthless discipline she is infamous for and strip these two optics idiots of all committee assignments); Mayor Cruz of San Juan MIA from hurricane planning sessions before and after Maria finally found the time to attend a briefing session for President Trump and shake his hand after he gave high marks to the governor of the island; Gina McCarthy ex head of the EPA is back in the news for awarding IP contracts equaling more than $500 million without required proof that the contractors had the proper credentials (so typical of the feds who since it is not their money couldn’t care less); in Chicago the month of September ended with 57 dead (which when some of the critically wounded might die will barely less than the 59 fatalities resulting from 8 minutes of shooting by Stephen Paddock in Vegas and through October 2, 2017, the number of people being shot climbed to 2893 and the death toll rising to 498 while the city seems to not be doing anything to prevent the killing and maiming of its minority residents—a real definition of racism which is deadly.
As always, I hope you enjoy today’s holidays and observances, a music link to Mac Davis, factoids of interest for this day in history, a relevant quote by Peer Steinbruck on costs of German and European unity, vowing to channel your kippage over gridlock in the Swamp into productive endeavors  and secure in the knowledge that if you want to find a gift for any memorable events like weddings, or anniversaries, you know that the Alaskanpoet can provide you with a unique customized poem at a great price tailored to the event and the recipient. You need only contact me for details.
1National Techie Day—celebrating the accomplishments and contributions of those among blessed with technology skills or obsessions.
2.  National Virus Appreciation Day—not sure what misguided idiot created this but I have never met a virus that gave me reason to appreciate it and suggest the observance be renamed to Virus Awareness Day.
3. 1972 Number One Song— the number one song in 1972 on a run of 3 weeks in that position  was “Baby Don’t Get Hooked On Me” by Mac Davis. Here is a performance of the song: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UauHDIlhvTk
 4. Word of the Day—today’s word of the day is “kippage” which means a state of anger or displeasure which is what mere mortals outside the Swamp should feel given the gridlock and desire of the Blues to politicize the tragedy in Vegas.
5.  Rev the Rhetoric Up—bemoaning the birth on this day in 1954 of Al Sharpton, a biased activist and commentator for MSMBC and who thank God has failed in every attempt to hold public office.
On this day in:
a. 1863 Abraham Lincoln designated the last Thursday to be Thanksgiving Day.
b. 1872 the Bloomington brothers opened their first store on 938 Third Avenue in New York City.
c. 1949  WERD the first owned black radio station opened in Atlanta, Georgia.
d. 1952 in a join the club moment the United Kingdom successfully detonated a nuclear weapon to become the third nation with nuclear weapons.
 e. 1990 that failed economic eyesore due to communism, East Germany, ceased to exist and its territory was merged into the successful economic powerhouse West Germany.
Reflections on German Unity Day on the reunification of West and East Germany: “Over a period of 20 years, German reunification has cost 2 trillion euros, or an average of 100 billion euros a year. So, we have to ask ourselves: Aren't we willing to pay a tenth of that over several years for Europe's unity?" Peer Steinbruck, German social democratic politician and author. The trend evidenced by the U.K. appears to be going the other way with a growing return of nationalism.  Please enjoy the poems on events of interest on my twitter account below (if you like them, retweet and follow me) and follow my blogs.
