Ridley’s Believe It Or Not For March 4, 2017 Governor Walker and Senator Murkowski (pleased beyond belief to have escaped the D.C. Swamp) were at the ceremonial start of the Iditarod, the Last Great Race on Earth; great drama on Obamacare replacement bill with Senator Rand Paul followed by a flock of reporters searching for it (Trump has made a potentially disastrous error in not charging forward as his first priority tax reform aka tax cuts and repatriation of corporate earnings from overseas as crafting a replacement for Obamacare is going to take up a tremendous amount of time and political capital as an obstructionist scorched earth Schumer and his lackeys will fight him tooth and nail); Sessions has recused himself in any investigation of Russian hacking and will be submitting written statements to clarify his prior answers at his Senate confirmation hearing but rabid ideologues like freshman Senator Kamala Harris are beating the Twitter drumbeat 24/7 calling for his resignation while Pelosi who blatantly lied to the American people that she has never met with Russian officials despite newly released photographic evidence to the contrary implies Sessions should go to prison for “perjury”; Trump has unleashed another firestorm alleging that Obama wiretapped his conversations at Trump Tower (if that is remotely true that is a very disturbing and chilling trend far more dangerous to our democracy than the hacking into the DNC which exposed the rigged primaries in favor of HRC, the true racist feelings of the DNC to black voters and the incredible bias of the Clinton News Network in trying to get HRC elected; but given the Obama administration’s witch hunt of the Tea Party and conservative journalists not that far-fetched); in yet another example of the craziness on our college campuses, students at Cornell are protesting that Cornell must provide housing and sanctuary for illegal aliens working or enrolled there (better would be to enforce existing law and fine the University for hiring illegals and/or add an illegal assistance surcharge on tuition bills); the carnage in Chicago continues unabated through February March 4, 2017, rising to 544 but the aim of the shooters off with the total dead stuck at 98 (four days into March and no one dead—a true miracle) (God help those poor minorities being shot mostly by minorities when the weather gets warmer and the shooters’ aim gets better.

Good Golly Midget Molley—celebrating the birth on this day in 1959 of 5’2” Midget Molley, an infamous drug dealer in Atlantic City who was raking in over a $1 million a day but his ill gotten wealth display caught up with him and he was sentenced to 25 years; after release he returned to his adopted Muslim faith and is active in reaching out to Muslim youth to steer them away from crime and gangs.

a. 1794 the 22th Amendment to the Constitution granting the states sovereign immunity was passed by Congress.
b. 1913 in another example of the relentless growth of the federal government, the Department of Labor was created.
c. 1917 Jeannette Rankin of Montana became the first woman to be elected to the House of Representatives, serving a single term; she ran again and won in 1940 and as a lifelong pacifist had the distinction of being the only member of Congress to have voted against the declarations of war against Germany in World War I and against Japan in World War II (the only member in Congress to vote against Japan).
d. 1957 the S&P 500 Index in its present form was created and with a larger number of companies and a greater concentration of technology companies gives a better picture of the stock market’s performance.
e. 1985 to the relief of anyone in need of a blood transfusion, the FDA approved a test to detect the HIV virus which all blood banks now use.
