Ridley’s Believe It Or Not July 10,2016 194 days left to endure President Obama’s term which is now being marked by a collapse in some cities of race relations as BLM has been organizing protests over the police shooting of blacks, usually unarmed, which in the case of Minneapolis and Baton Rouge turned violent with over a hundred arrests in both cities; Dallas still trying to heal after killing of 5 police officers and the wounding of 7 others by a former army reservist who wanted to revenge the killings of blacks by police; Obama is cutting his trip to Europe short and will head to Dallas—he is running out of days to try to do what he ran on and seduced this nation to vote for him—hope and change and unite this country (my guess is that he will focus on gun control); HRC and Sanders are feuding over the platform—why is beyond me as whoever wins the election will discard the platform if past elections are any indication of what politicians think of holding to their campaign promises.
On the sports front, the Brazilian army complete with armored vehicles did a dry run of deploying to protect Olympic venues in Rio; 85,000 armed troops and police will be deployed during the Olympics, far more than the number deployed in London for the 2012 Olympics; the bulls won one yesterday goring a matador to death during a bull fight in Aragon which was seen live on Spanish TV—first death of a matador since 1997.
On the good news front sad to say nothing worthy of note and worse on July 12 Starbucks is going to be raising its prices—time to start going to McDonalds and Dunkin Donuts for internet and coffee. www.lyingcrookedhillay.com is a great way to start your day along of course with www.alaskanpoet.blogspot.com

Ridley, raised in Alaska, was known to all as the Alaskanpoet
Attempts to blog in prose, one should that desire stow it
Four lines almost like a tweet but in his case always in rhyme
Current events, world and national chaos and the curse of Red and Blue political slime.
2. National Barn Day—celebrated on the second Sunday in July to commemorate our agricultural heritage—today, if you are fortunate to live near a farming community, would be a great day to pack a picnic basket and camera and go for a drive to take some pictures of barns along the way.
3. 1995 Number One Song—celebrating the number one song in 1995 on a run of seven weeks in that position “Waterfalls” by TLC. Here is a link to TLC performing “Waterfalls.” https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8WEtxJ4-sh4
4. National Pina Colada Day—celebrating the national drink of Puerto Rico since 1978 which first appeared in 1954 at the Caribe Hilton Beachcomber Bar (given the financial crisis facing Puerto Rico and its impending default of millions of its bonds, have to believe that to escape the potential chaos, a lot more pina coladas are being consumed.
5. Raging Bull—celebrating the birthday on this day in 1921 of Jake LaMotta, former middleweight champion whose career was featured in the Oscar winning film Raging Bull starring Robert DiNiro. He is still alive and the referee in the sky has not counted him out yet.
On this day in:
a. 1913 the highest temperature on Earth ever recorded, 134 degrees, was recorded at Death Valley, California.
b. 1925 spiritual leader Mehar Baba spoke his last words and would not speak another word for almost 44 years, dying in 1969 with his lips still sealed.
c. 1951 armistice negations to end the Korean War began at Kaesong; the talks moved at glacial speed culminating in an armistice signed over two years and thousands of casualties later.
d. 1962 Telstar, the world’s first communications satellite was launched into orbit.
e. 1985 Greenpeace’s ship Rainbow Warrior was bombed and sunk in the harbor at Auckland, New Zealand by agents of France’s DGSE (similar to our CIA).
Reflections on Greenpeace’s activities: “I think it's great that we have organizations like Greenpeace. In a pluralistic society, we want to have people who point out all the problems that the Earth could encounter. But we need to understand that they are not presenting a full and rounded view.” Bjorn Lomborg, noted author and cofounder of the Copenhagen Consensus Just what skeptics of global warming have been saying for year.
