Ridley's Believe It Or Not For January 16, 2016 National Religious Freedom Dah

Ridley’s Believe It Or Not For January 16, 2016, 370 days to go in President Obama’s pathetic lame duck term. Good news that five Americans illegally held as hostages in the terrorist empire Iran have been released although at great cost to us in terms of our releasing arrested and/or convicted Iranians who assisted Iran in avoiding sanctions and better yet your Saturday is off to a great start with all or a majority of your  New Year’s Resolutions still being observed; as always, I hope you enjoy Saturday’s holidays and observances, a music link to Toni Braxton; factoids of interest, a relevant quote from Pope Benedict XVI, looking forward to enjoying a bowl or plate of hot and spicy food, blessed with a positive attitude and secure in the knowledge that if you want to find a gift for any memorable event like birthdays, weddings, or anniversaries, you know that the Alaskanpoet can provide you with a unique customized poem at a great price tailored to the event and the recipient. You need only contact me for details.
1. National Nothing Day—proposed in 1972 by columnist Harold Pullman Coffin to give Americans a day in which they do not have to honor, celebrate or observe any event or person, which by posting Ridley’s Believe It Or Not the Alaskanpoet chooses not to follow.
2. National Religious Freedom Day—commemorating the adoption on this day by the Virginia General Assembly in 1786 of the Statute of Religious Freedom, written by Thomas Jefferson.
3. 1997 Number One S ong—celebrating the number one song in 1997 on a long run of eleven weeks in that position Un-Break My Heart by Toni Braxton. Here is a link to Toni Braxton performing Un-Break My Heart: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pU2LzuVrqLQ
4. National Hot And Spicy Food Day—celebrating all those hot and spicy foods that add so much  variety to one’s diet, especially if one has a good supply of Tums.
5. No Wonder Celebs Change Their Name--celebrating the birthday on this day in 1987 of a young woman who has one of the most watched largest female fitness you tube channels Cassey Ho (Ho is a very derogatory term for a female).
On this day in:
a. 1492 the first grammar of a modern language, Spanish, was presented to Queen Isabella.
b. 1776 the Continental Congress approved the enlistment of free blacks.
c. 1919 the 18th Amendment was ratified by Nebraska, the 36th state to do so. The manufacture and sale of alcoholic beverages would become illegal one year later.
d. 1936 the first photo finish camera was installed at the Hialeah Racetrack in Hialeah, Florida.
e. 2005 Romanian lecturer and author of children’s novels, Adriana Illiescu  was artificially inseminated by anonymous sperm and ovum and at 66 delivered a baby girl. She briefly held the record for the oldest mother giving birth. Why someone would want to have a child at that age defies comprehension.

Reflections from religious freedom: “Human rights, of course, must include the right to religious freedom, understood as the expression of a dimension that is at once individual and communitarian - a vision that brings out the unity of the person while clearly distinguishing between the dimension of the citizen and that of the believer.” Pope Benedict XVI
