b. 1813 the first pineapples were planted in Hawaii.
c. 1987 in one of the great moments of professional sports John Elway drove the Broncos from the two yard line with 5:32 minutes remaining to tie the game against the Cleveland Browns to tie the game and win it in overtime and then move on to the SurperBowl.                                                         
d. 2007 author J.K. Rowling finished the seventh and last Harry Potter novel in room 552 at the Bamoral Hotel in Edinburgh, Scotland.
e. 2016 iconic rock artist and singer David Bowie died after an 18 month struggle with cancer.                    
Reflections on the dangers and inevitability of death by smoking: “Each of us should think of the future. Every puff on a cigarette is another tick closer to a time bomb of terrible consequences. Christopher Hitchens didn't care about the consequences of smoking cigarettes. Tragically, he died of throat cancer in December 2011.” Ray Comfort, noted minister How right an observation as this poet watched his father, a lifelong heavy smoker, die in agony from lung cancer.
