Ridley's Believe It Or Not For January 31, 2016 World Leprosy Day

Ridley’s Believe It Or Not For January 31, 2016, 355 days to go in President Obama’s pathetic lame duck term. Interesting theater on the political front as another blizzard is bearing down on Iowa which may significantly reduce turnout that some candidates like Sanders need. As always, I hope you enjoy Sunday’s holidays and observances, a music link to The Shirelles, factoids of interest, a relevant quote from Mother Teresa, looking forward to enjoying a cup of hot chocolate, blessed with a positive attitude and secure in the knowledge that if you want to find a gift for any memorable event like birthdays, weddings, or anniversaries, you know that the Alaskanpoet can provide you with a unique customized poem at a great price tailored to the event and the recipient. You need only contact me for details.

Ridley's Believe It Or Not For January 30, 2016 Fred Karematsu Day

Ridley’s Believe It Or Not For January 30, 2016, 356 days to go in President Obama’s pathetic lame duck term. Interesting theater on the email front as State is refusing to release over 20 because of the classified nature (wonder when Hillary might be talking to Obama about her dropping out of the race in exchange for a pardon for her, Bill and the Foundation in the spirit of Ford’s pardon of Nixon as means to unite the nation). As always, I hope you enjoy Saturday’s holidays and observances, a music link to Johnny Preston, factoids of interest, a relevant quote from Britain’s first recipient of a seeing eye dog, looking forward to enjoying a croissant, bessed with a positive attitude and secure in the knowledge that if you want to find a gift for any memorable event like birthdays, weddings, or anniversaries, you know that the Alaskanpoet can provide you with a unique customized poem at a great price tailored to the event and the recipient. Ridley's Believe It Or Not For January 29, 2016 Seeing Eye Dog Day

Ridley’s Believe It Or Not For January 29, 2016, 357 days to go in President Obama’s pathetic lame duck term. Interesting theater last night during the Republican debate with the candidates still attacking each other as opposed to focusing on Hillary with an occasional swipe at the absent Trump. As always, I hope you enjoy Friday’s holidays and observances, a music link to The Platters, factoids of interest, a relevant quote from Britain’s first recipient of a seeing eye dog, looking forward to enjoying a bowl of corn chips, blessed with a positive attitude and secure in the knowledge that if you want to find a gift for any memorable event like birthdays, weddings, or anniversaries, you know that the Alaskanpoet can provide you with a unique customized poem at a great price tailored to the event and the recipient. You need only contact me for details.
1. National Seeing Eye Dog Day—celebrating the contributions made by seeing eye dogs to enable the blind some semblance of independent mobility which until Google introduces a cane which has collision avoidance technology similar to its driverless car and which incorporates a GPS system informing the blind person of his location and when he must turn, the highly trained seeing eye dog remains the gold standard. The day also marks the formation of the first seeing eye dog school on this day in 1929 by a completely blind Morris Frank.
2. National Puzzle Day—celebrating a fun way to spend some challenging time with a crossword puzzle or Sudoku which if you believe the medical profession is also a great way to defer the onset of dementia and Alzheimer’s such that when the Golden Years arrive that the senior will know where the person is, who the person is, where the person is going, and will know who the person is talking to.
3. 1959 Number One Song—celebrating the number one song in 1959 on a run of three weeks in that position Smoke Gets In Your Eyes by The Platters. Here is a link to The Platters performing Smoke Gets In Your Eyes The Hop: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WbQuYgPrM0k

On this day in:
a. 1834 President Andrew Jackson summoned for federal troops in conjunction with a labor dispute for the first time in our history.

Ridley's Believe It Or Not For January 28, 2016 Data Privacy Day

Ridley’s Believe It Or Not For January 28, 2016, 359 days to go in President Obama’s pathetic lame duck term. Interesting theater with Trump who like a spoiled child took his soccer ball home because he has a five month festering grudge against Megyn Kelly and Fox News would not accede to his rules to replace her as a moderator of the Republican debate. I think this may be Pickett’s Last Charge for Trump so I hope you enjoy the theater Thursday Night. As always, I hope you enjoy Thursday’s  holidays and observances, music links to Danny and the Juniors and USA for Africa; factoids of interest, a relevant quote from Michael Jackson, looking forward to enjoying some peanut butter, blessed with a positive attitude and secure in the knowledge that if you want to find a gift for any memorable event like birthdays, weddings, or anniversaries, you know that the Alaskanpoet can provide you with a unique customized poem at a great price tailored to the event and the recipient. You need only contact me for details.

c. 1956 Elvis Presley made his first appearance on national television.
d. 1985 supergroup USA for Africa (United Artists Support Africa) recorded the hit single We Are The World to raise almost $100 million for famine relief in Ethiopia. Here is a link of the recording to see if it does not bring tears to your eyes or at least moisten them while you try to recognize the artists many of whom like Michael Jackson are no longer with us but others like Kenny Rodgers still are: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M9BNoNFKCBI
e. 1986 in a chilling reminder of the dangers faced in the exploration of space, the Space Shuttle Challenger exploded minutes after takeoff killing all seven astronauts on board including school teacher Christa McAuliffe who was looking forward to becoming the first teacher in space.
Reflections from Michael Jackson as written in  We Are The World:
We are the world, we are the children
We are the ones who make a brighter day
one So let's start giving
There's a choice we're making
 We're saving our own lives
It's true we'll make a better day
Just you and me
Michael Jackson  If such a large group of artists with egos that make Donald Trump look like a shy insecure person could come together in a recording song and record a tremendous performance and not get paid for it other than the satisfaction of helping their fellow human beings, one would think the Reds and Blues that infest Washington might be able to a least try.
