Ridley's Beleive It Or Not May 23 History-World Turtle Dayma

Ridley's Believe It Or Not—May 23, 2014:  Hope you looking forward to the Memorial Day Weekend and will enjoy these holidays, or celebrate in a culinary fashion, found for today along with the factoids and quote.
            1. World Turtle Day—celebrated since 2000 to create awareness of what we as humans need to do to help turtles and tortoises survive; especially dear to this Alaskanpoet as the Ridley Kemp Turtle is on the endangered species list.
            2. World Crohn’s and Colitis Day—promoting an awareness of diseases you do not want to have and if you do will make your Memorial Day barbecue less than enjoyable.
            3. National Taffy Day—seems the last thing you would bring to a Memorial Day barbecue; but as usual I kid you not.
On this day in:
            a. 1911 the New York Public Library was opened.
            b. 1958 in a win zip moment before we knew what it meant, Cliff’s Notes were introduced to U.S. students.
            c. 1995 the first version of Java was released.
Today if you can smell the roses, bet not on the hare but the tortoise: “Take a walk with a turtle and behold the world in pause”  Bruce Feiler popular American author and columnist.
