Ridley’s Believe It Or Not February 22, 2021
CV World Cases: The CV pandemic across the planet continues the new year with surging cases now past 112 million at 112,207,479 with 343,567 new cases (a .31% increase) 22,087,129 of which are active, 90,120,350 closed with 87,636,950 recoveries (97.24% and 97.24% yesterday) and 2,483,400 deaths (2.76% and 2.76% yesterday) to continue the trend of increased cases with increased recovery percentages and decreased death percentages with some plateaus.
CV USA Cases: Total cases now over 28 million at 28,803,625 with 63,304 new cases (a .22% increase) with 9,243,998 active cases of which 16,922 (.18% of active cases and a decrease now of 12,349 from a peak of 29,271 on December 31) are in serious or critical condition, 19,559,627 closures, 512,044 of which have been deaths (2.62% and 2.63% yesterday) and 19,047,583 of which have been recoveries (97.38% and 97.37% yesterday). Our death rate percentage continues to improve and after many months is now .14% lower than the world rate and now .04% lower than Canada which has the socialized type medicine Biden may well want to implement here and on a deaths per million population measurement on a steady climb to 1541 ranks behind Belgium (1885), UK (1773) which had passed us despite leading world in testing), Italy (1589), and Portugal (1574) and only slightly worse than Hungary (1488), Spain (1446), Bulgaria (1425), Mexico (1388), Peru (1356), France (1294), Sweden (1247) that never closed its economy down like we did but has recently been experiencing a rapid rise in deaths, Brazil (1157), Switzerland (1139), Argentina (1126), Poland (1115), Chile (1047), and Bolivia (972) and we have now conducted 347,767,593 tests (now at 1,046,717/M) compared to Russia at 746,705/M) as we are conducting more tests in number and on a per capital basis for all nations (other than those nations that contain small populations like Bahrain, Denmark, Israel, Malta, Singapore and UAE) other than the U.K. which remains off the testing charts with tests at 1,243,646/M.
US Vaccinations: In the U.S. as of 2/22/2021 64.2 million doses have been given, 1.37 million per day in the last week (sounds impressive but if the rate does not increase it will take us some 10 months to have 75% of the population vaccinated which many believe is necessary to develop herd immunity. In California 7,604,725 total doses have been given (up to 82.9% of doses received), but typical of Newsom’s ineptness and because more than 1.5 million recall signatures have been turned in, due to the power of growing signatures on his recall petition, California has moved down slightly to now at 36th out of 50 in terms of the percentage of doses administered as a percentage of doses delivered to the states. A long way to go to get herd immunity and little improvement relative to other states and a great reason to recall this inept governor. As of 2/22/2021 in California we have reduced hospitalizations to 7,313 with COVID-19 patients hospitalized occupying 12.2% of all hospital beds.
Non CV Case News: The hot water Cuomo is in keeps getting hotter as Reds in New York are introducing legislation to strip him of his emergency powers, Mayor De Blasio is slamming him for his nursing home deaths, and the I word is being circulated along with the criminal behavior charges (true to form Cuomo is blaming everyone including Trump for his problems other than taking responsibility for his actions; Garland is mouthing all the right responses to avoid a characterization that he will be like Holder, a wing man for Biden and would not interfere with the Durham investigation or any investigation of Hunter Biden; in yet another example of judicial independence that the left was ranting due to the 3 confirmation to SCOTUS by Trump was threatened, SCOTUS refused to block a subpoena of Trump’s tax returns by Manhattan District Attorney Cyrus Vance, Jr.; Kristen Clark, nominated by Biden to head the Civil Rights Division of the DOJ had her past come up to haunt her with her claims that blacks are superior to whites ( nothing like a bit of reverse racism to stoke the flames of diviseness); John Kerry who was an architect of the Iran nuclear deal was exposed meeting with Iranian officials in an attempt to thwart Trump’s plans to withdraw from the agreement (another Logan Act violation that under Biden will never see the light of day?); the lone voice of sanity on the Clueless View, Meghan McCain, hit the nail on the head when she urged that it is time for Fauci and his yo-yo pronouncements that may or may not have anything to do with the science to be replaced; leave it to cartoonists to cut through the spin to show us reality: https://www.foxnews.com/politics/cartoons-slideshow; although 80% of the recall Newsom signatures have been verified, signature drive continues to insure a recall in the event that any of the 1.5 million signatures already received are not valid to insure Newsom is put on a recall ballot where he needs to be given his unmitigated ineptness: https://recallgavin2020.com/petition/
Chicago Gun Violence: HeyJackass.com is back to show that through February 21, 2021, gun violence involving mostly persons of color shooting persons of color in Chicago is alive and well with 378 persons shot of whom 79 have died.

Reflections on the Cruise of the Great White Fleet: “The fleet's Japan visit had the desired result: it generated good will between both countries and eased tensions that might otherwise have led to open conflict. Much of the credit goes to Sperry, whose skill as a diplomat and professionalism as an officer were crucial.” The Cruise of the Great White Fleet Journalist Second Class Mike McKinley.
