Ridley's Believe It Or Not August 19, 2020
CV World Cases: The CV pandemic across the planet continues with 255,385 new cases (a 1.15% increase compared to a 1.39% increase yesterday) to bring the total over 22 million to 22,457,365 cases, 6,497,834 of which are active, 15,959,531 of which have been closed with 15,172,062 recoveries (95.07% compared to yesterday’s 95.02%) and 780,742 deaths (4.93% compared to yesterday’s 4.98%) to continue the trend of increased recovery percentages and decreased mortality percentages.
CV USA Cases: New cases of 34,136 with total cases exceeding 5 million at 5,639,526 (a .61% increase compared to yesterday’s 1.19% increase) with 2,455,706 active cases of which 16,980, on a downward trend with slight blips from over 19,000 in the last 2 weeks (17,342 yesterday), are in serious or critical condition as trend continues to go down, and 3,207,956 closures, 175,686 of which have been deaths (5.48% compared to yesterday’s 5.52%) and 3,032,270 of which have been recoveries (94.52% compared to yesterday’s 94.48%) (our death rate percentages continue to improve and are finally in single digits since Cuomo repealed his order sending CV positive patients on May 10 but remain higher than the world probably due to idiots like Cuomo sending positive CV patients into nursing homes to infect the residents and staff who then die and accounted for some 40% of our deaths. We have now conducted 73,081,228 tests ( over 353,000 more tests than those done yesterday).
Non CV Case News: AG Barr has announced that under Operation Legend which was named after the 4 yr. old LeGend Taliferro who was killed by a stray bullet while sleeping in his bedroom in Kansas City, Mo. has resulted in 214 charged with federal crimes, 1000 arrested and 400 firearms confiscated; Powell, Kashich and Whitman are 3 Reds who have spoken in favor of Biden’s candidacy at the DNC (seems like they are talking about a Biden who does not exist today and will be pushed relentlessly by the the Progressives leading Reds to wonder if the RNC will be able to do the same and thankful that Romney was not speaking); Witless Whitmer was caught on a hot mic comparing the DNC to “Shark Week f###er”, leaving us to wonder if the Blues are eating each other or getting ready to devour Americans who are terrified of the leftist slant of the Blues; in a glaring example of the PC Iron Curtain curtailing thought on college campuses, Chloe Clark, a lecturer at Iowa State University will dismiss anyone from her required English 250 class who opposes abortion or BLM; the Biden campaign may be showing it has vestiges of a spine as it has distanced itself from Linda Sarsour due to her Antisemitism; great news for coffeeaholics and maybe another reason to invest in Starbucks, as a new study has been released indicating drinking more that two cups of coffee may help prevent a person from contracting liver disease https://www.foxnews.com/health/coffee-may-protect-liver-study
Chicago/Baltimore Gun Violence: In Chicago as of August 18, 2020, the number of shootings increased by 15 poorly aimed shootings to 2,567, of whom 2 died to raise the total to 442 (total travesty of BLM when blacks are shot and killed by blacks in droves and only sounds of silence and complete absence of any protests in front of City Hall demanding action to curb the killings and shootings); Baltimore with a fraction of Chicago’s population and hoping against all hopes that 2020 will not be a record in terms of deaths but now seems to be shooting less and killing less and is now 234 behind Chicago at 208 murders (when will Chicago and Baltimore get serious about this carnage or is this the case of true racism as a Blue run city turns a deaf ear and a blind eye to the slaughter of people of color by people of color and when will the left focus on the problem of color on color shootings in Blue run cities which have been way more deadly and way more numerous than shootings by police or random mass shootings?).

1. National Aviation Day—created by President Roosevelt in 1939 when Orville Wright was still alive to celebrate and promote American aviation and celebrated on the anniversary of Orville Wright’s birthday on this day in 1871.
2. World Humanitarian Day—created by the UN General Assembly to commemorate those who have lost their lives promoting and striving for humanitarian causes.
3. 2019 Number One Song— the number 1 song in 2019 on this day on a run of 19 weeks to set a record “Old Town Road” by Lil Nas X feat. Billy Rae Cyrus. Here is a recording of the song: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w2Ov5jzm3j8 This rapper born in 1999 became the first artist to come out as gay while having a Number 1 song on the charts. Cyrus has been a very successful country singer.
4. Word of the Day—today’s word of the day is “perrisology” which means verbiage which is what we too often get from politicians and academicians.
5. Hoping No Beans Spilled by Maxwell—celebrating or bemoaning depending on your political views the birthday on this day in 1946 of Bill Clinton who is probably praying he for a birthday present receives word that Ghislaine Maxwell has no tapes of him cavorting with minors on Epstein’s private island after arriving there on the Lolita Express.
On this day in:
a. 1964 the world became a much more connected place with the launching of the first geosynchronous communications satellite Syncom 3 which 2 months later broadcasted live the 1964 Summer Olympics.
b. 1991 the 3 day Crown Heights Riots pitting African-Americans against Orthodox Jewish Chabad residents began which resulted in 2 deaths, injuries to 158 police officers and 32 civilians and 129 arrests and contributed to the defeat of sitting mayor David Dinkins, NYC’s first black mayor by Rudy Giuliani in 1992.
c. 2005 the first joint Chinese Russian military exercises called Peace Mission 2005 were held.
d. 2010 Operation Iraqi Freedom ended with the last American combat brigade crossing back into Kuwait.
e. 2017 thousands of farmed Atlantic salmon were accidentally released from their pens into the wild in what was known as the Cypress Island Atlantic salmon pen break which led to the State of Washington banning farming salmon by 2025.
Reflections on Mayor Dinkin’s response to the Crown Heights Riots: “This lawsuit has nothing to do with any attempt to embarrass Mr. Dinkins. It has nothing to do with any election campaign. Rather, its sole purpose is to honestly obtain the facts regarding a civil-rights violation. and it's a demonstration of the fact that the Mayor just simply doesn't get it when he continues to make himself the victim." Franklyn Snitlow, lawyer representing the Hassim in its suit against NYC for its response to the riots.
