Ridley’s Believe It Or Not August 10, 2020
CV World Cases: The CV pandemic across the planet continues with 338,196 new cases (a 1.7% increase compared to a .99% increase yesterday) to bring the total over 20 million to 20,236,931 cases, 6,406,362 of which are active, 13,830,569 of which have been closed with 13,092,706 recoveries (94.66% compared to yesterday’s 94.59%) and 737,863 deaths (5.34% compared to yesterday’s 5.41%) to continue the trend of increased recovery percentages and decreased mortality percentages.
CV USA Cases: New cases of 128,839 with total cases exceeding 5 million at 5,249,809 (a 2.52% increase compared to yesterday’s .84% increase) with 2,375,421 active cases of which 17,602, on a downward trend from over 19,000 in the last 2 weeks (18,015 yesterday), are in serious or critical condition as trend continues to go down, and 2,874,388 closures, 166,160 of which have been deaths (5.78% compared to yesterday’s 5.89%) and 2,708,228 of which have been recoveries (94.22% compared to yesterday’s 94.11%) (our death rate percentages continue to improve and are finally in single digits since Cuomo repealed his order sending CV positive patients on May 10 but remain higher than the world probably due to idiots like Cuomo sending positive CV patients into nursing homes to infect the residents and staff who then die and accounted for some 40% of our deaths. We have now conducted 66,178,615 tests (over 725,000 more than yesterday).
Non CV Case News: Ariel Atkins, a BLM organizer wins the prize for inanity at a rally for 100 looters by justifying the looting of high end stores in Chicago’s Magnificent Mile because the stores have insurance and his people have to be clothed (really $300 plus Nikes) Trump’s CV briefing was briefly interrupted by a shooting outside the White House in which the shooter and a member of the Secret Service have been taken to the hospital with non life-threatening wounds; another weekend of protests near the White House with police and Secret Service Agents being pelted by all sorts of dangerous or disgusting objects (the illegal alien queen never to miss a beat for a photo Op to be with the “protesters” later tweeting they were in pain and we must listen—why are the Blues not listening to the pain of those out of work as unemployment enhancement benefits expired with Blues insisting on leftist goodies that have nothing to do with the virus or the recovery); Susan Rice is on the flack receiving end from progressives not because of her propensity to have lied but rather her large portfolio in pipeline and energy companies with ties to Canada and its oil tar sands; the leftist leaning Seattle City Council is approving a plan that will cut $4 million from the $400 million SPD budget and reduce the number of officers from the 1400 person force by 100 (watch for more “protests” as progressives want a 50% reduction); in another example of the PC insanity and the proliferation of spineless students with pellicles, Robert Dailyda is facing possible suspension from a New Jersey Public University, Stockton, for using a photo of President Trump as a Zoom backdrop because a few students felt threatened; in Chicago a BLM protest over a black shooting at Chicago police who shot back and hit him quickly turned into a riot in Chicago’s Magnificent Mile complete with looting and property damage and arrests with a price tag of $60 million, causing Chicago to consider raising some of its draw bridges to keep rioters out; in a glaring anecdotal of why meth should never be legalized, Kaylee Muthart as a 20 year old in Anderson, South Carolina while on meth on meth to save the world ripped her eyeballs out and squished them, rendering herself blind and has now received a pair of prosthetic eyeballs but obviously is still blind; on the hopeful news on the CV battle front, Gilead has filed a marketing application for its anti-COVID-19 drug Remdesivir; a report just out gives insight over why crime in Chicago is running wild as Kimberly Fox, the State Attorney for Cook County during her last three year tenure, has dismissed 29.4% of the felony cases brought before her and has a conviction rate of only 66% (how safe can you feel with all the shootings and crime with a record like that if you lived in Chicago?)
Chicago/Baltimore Gun Violence: In Chicago as of August 9, 2020, the number of shootings increased by 14 poorly aimed shots to 2,441, of whom 1 more has died to raise the total to 427 (total travesty of BLM when blacks are shot and killed by blacks in droves and only sounds of silence and complete absence of any protests in front of City Hall demanding action to curb the killings and shootings); Baltimore with a fraction of Chicago’s population and hoping against all hopes that 2020 will not be a record in terms of deaths but now seems to be shooting less and killing less and is still at 223 behind Chicago now at 204 murders (when will Chicago and Baltimore get serious about this carnage or is this the case of true racism as a Blue run city turns a deaf ear and a blind eye to the slaughter of people of color by people of color and when will the left focus on the problem of color on color shootings in Blue run cities which have been way more deadly and way more numerous than shootings by police or random mass shootings?).

1. International Biodiesel Day—commemorating the first use of biodiesel in the form of peanut oil to run Rudolph Diesel’s diesel engine on this day in 1893 and to promote the use of biodiesel to reduce our reliance on fossil fuels.
2. National Vlogging Day—created by Sound of the City, David Bullas and Tom Burns on February 19, 2018 and first celebrated on August 10, 2018 to promote and encourage bloggers to increase their audience in the use of video blogs or vblogs.
3. 2009 Number One Song— the number 1 song in 2009 on this day on a run of 14 weeks was “I Gotta Feeling” by The Black Eyed Peas in their first number 1 song. Here is a recording of the song: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CwdrtwZiQ9E . This group started performing in 1995 but did not enjoy real commercial success until 2003 when they took off like a rocket and are still wowing fans today.
4. Word of the Day—today’s word of the day is “penury” which means destitution or poverty which will describe the condition of a lot of Americans due to the COVID-19 virus if we do not manage to reopen our economy and get a handle on stopping the spread of the virus.
5. Let’s Make a Star for Star Wars—celebrating the birth on this day in 1928 of noted singer and actor Eddie Fisher now best remembered for marrying Debbie Reynolds and having a daughter Carrie Fisher with her and then in a scandal leaving his wife and marrying her best friend Elizabeth Taylor who in term left him to marry Richard Burton. Although his mind was sharp his balance was not and at the age of 82 fell and broke his hip on September 9, 2010 and died 13 days later from surgery on it.
