July 11, 2020 Ridley's Believe It Or Not World Population Day

Ridley’s Believe It Or Not For July 11, 2020
CV World: The CV pandemic across the planet continues  with 237,464 new cases  (a 1.9%  increase compared to a 1.65% increase yesterday) to bring the total to over 12 million at 12,728,360 cases, 4,733,572   of  which  are active, 7,994,788 of which have been closed with 7,430,032 recoveries (92.94% compared to  yesterday’s 92.87%) and 564,756   deaths (7.06% compared to yesterday’s 7.13%).
CV USA: New cases of 127,908 with total cases of 3,193,554 (a 4.01% increase compared to yesterday’s 1.7% increase) with 1,712,500 active cases of which 15,720 (15,645 yesterday) are in serious or critical condition and 1,608,962 closures, 137,031 of which have been deaths (8.52% compared to  yesterday’s 8.65%) and 1,471,931  of which  have been recoveries (91.48%  compared to yesterday’s 91.35%) (our death rate percentages continue to improve and are finally in single digits since Cuomo repealed his order sending CV positive patients on May 10 but remain higher than the world probably due to idiots like Cuomo sending positive CV patients into nursing homes to infect the residents and staff who then die and accounted for some 40% of our deaths with 41,282,953 tests (so much for Biden’s claim of lack of testing by Trump and implications Trump is slowing testing to hide CV increases).
Non CV News: As predicted the Blues are howling for blood and vowing to investigate and legislate against presidential pardon power led by Lying Schiff and Botox Babe Pelosi with allegations of “corruption” (have any of these idiots read Article Two Section 2 Clause 1 of the Constitution?); thank God for body cams by police in Detroit that endured violent protests following the shooting of a black after the camera clearly shows the black pulling out a gun and shooting at the officer 3 feet away from him, fortunately missing before he was shot and killed (message should be clear to BLM—you lost your BLM not being shot card when you start shooting at police); the State Department has issued warnings to Americans in China that criticize the Communist Party to the effect you may be held for questioning; the couple in St. Louis who defended their home in their gated community against protesters threatening to kill them and their pet have not yet been arrested but have had a rifle confiscated; another silver lining for the CV pandemic as a District Court judge stayed a federal execution (the first in 17 years) due to concerns that witnesses to the execution would be infected; Rhino Romney has joined the parade of Blues protesting the commutation of Roger Stone’s sentence by Trump; in Chicago as of July 10 2020, the number of shootings increased to 1918, of whom 348 have died (so much for the defund the police movement and  for the effectiveness of Chicago’s stay at home order and a complete dereliction of duty by Mayor Lightfoot other than swearing at people outraged over the killings); Baltimore with a fraction of Chicago’s population and hoping against all hopes that 2020 will not be a record in terms of deaths but now seems to be shooting less and killing less and is now 175 behind Chicago now at 173 murders (when will Chicago and Baltimore get serious about this carnage or is this the case of true racism as a Blue run city turns a deaf ear and a blind eye to the slaughter of people of color by people of color and when will the left focus on the problem of color on color shootings in Blue run cities which have been more deadly and more numerous than shootings by police or random mass shootings?).
As always, I hope you enjoy today’s holidays and observances, factoids of interest for this day in history,  a musical link to Anita Ward, the fact that you may have a group of parine singers outside your window to brighten your day, and a quote by President Herbert Hoover on the need for a Jewish homeland,  secure in the knowledge that if you want to find a gift for any memorable events like Father’s Day, college graduations, birthdays, weddings, or anniversaries, you know that the Alaskanpoet can provide you with a unique customized poem at a great price tailored to the event and the recipient. 2. Free Slurpee Day—celebrated at 7-11 Stores since 2002, the iconic soda drink created by serendipity when Omar Knedlik who operated a Dairy Queen in the mid 50’s put some sodas into the freezer when his machine stopped working and when he later removed them to start found the customers loved the slushy texture which led to his having a machine made to produce the slushy drink which he called Icee and licensed to 7-11 in 1965.
3. 1979 Number One Song— the number 1 song in 1979 on this day on a run of 2 weeks in that position was “Ring My Bell” by Anita Ward in her first number one hit.  Here is a recording of the song: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=URAqnM1PP5E.  With the fading of disco music this singer became known as a one hit singer but after a hiatus raising a family is trying to resurrect her career at 63.
4. Word of the Day—today’s word of the day is “parine” which means of or pertaining to titmouses which does not refer to small breasts but a North American songbird of the chickadee family.
5. Lying in Wait--celebrating the birth on this day in 1920 of Yurily Borisovitch Briner, better known to his fans as Yul Bryner who was an Academy Award winning and Tony Award winning actor for his role in The King and I but a heavy smoker since the age of 12 and although he quit in 1971, he was diagnosed with lung cancer in September, 1983 and after what appeared to be successful radiation treatment, the cancer ceased being in remission to kill him on October 10, 1985 but not before he produced a powerful anti-smoking ad which was aired shortly after his death.

Reflections on the formation of a Jewish state in Palestine: “I am interested to learn that a group of distinguished men and women is to be formed to spread knowledge and appreciation of the rehabilitation which is going forward in Palestine under Jewish auspices, and to add my expression to the sentiment among our people in favor of the realization of the age-old aspirations of the Jewish people for the restoration of their national homeland.”
Herbert Hoover, (Message to the American Palestine Committee, January 11, 1932)
