Ridley’s Believe It Or Not For October 16, 2019 Pelosi in a snit
fit with Trump stormed out of room to plead case before MSM TV (need body cams
to see whose portrayal with which we should agree but my money is not on
Pelosi, Hoyer and Schumer); the it’s a video queen pushing her book, was
slamming Trump for dishonest and craven statements on withdrawal from Syria
(never thought she would find the lotion to wash the blood of Chris Stevens and
three others from her hands as she pedaled the video lie to save Obama’s
reelection; an appellate court has found evidence of massive illegal FISA surveillance
of American citizens by the FBI under Director Wray (looks like corruption of
the FBI in the Deep State is continuing); Pelosi may seem like she has lost her
mind but her strategy on not having an inquiry vote so she can keep proceedings
secret broken by selective anti-Trump leaks is proving to be that of a genius
(Reds need to if they have the votes bring an impeachment inquiry to floor and
McConnell needs to demand any Blue Senator running for president recluse him or
herself due to obvious conflict of
interest (Reds must get message out that this is a blatant Banana Republic
behind closed doors to remove a duly elected president they cannot beat in a
general election); Eric Swalwell whose only brilliant accomplishment as a
Congressman was to leave his idiotic race for president is lamely trying to
defended the closed door nature of the inquiry and its blizzard of subpoenas
(the President like all men are not above the law but neither should be his accusers
as they flush any traces of due process down the toilet); Hunter Biden’s lack
of qualifications other than Joe Biden’s son make him the poster child of Biden
quid pro quo run wild (CNN anxious to protect him asked only T-Ball questions
during the debate (can you imagine the outcry if Trump’s children were awarded
such cushy and lucrative jobs?); as of October
15, 2019, 2225 have been shot, of whom, 386 have died; in Baltimore with a
fraction of Chicago’s population, 273 have been murdered in Baltimore (when
will Chicago and Baltimore get serious about this carnage or is this the case
of true racism as a Blue run city turns a deaf ear and a blind eye to the
slaughter of people of color by people of color and when will the left focus on
the problem of color on color shootings in Blue run cities which have been more
deadly and more numerous than random mass shootings?
As always, I hope you enjoy today’s holidays and
observances, factoids of interest for this day in history, a musical link
to the Jimmy Gilmer and the Fireballs, the fact that you, although aging,
are not presbycocious and a relevant quote on the duty of parents not to bring
into the world babies suffering from mental or physical defects from Margaret
Sanger, secure in the knowledge that if you want to find a gift for any
memorable events like Father’s Day, college graduations, birthdays, weddings,
or anniversaries, you know that the Alaskanpoet can provide you with a
unique customized poem at a great price tailored to the event and the
recipient. You need only contact me for details.
1. World Food Day—created by the UN’s Food and Agriculture Organization in
November of 1979 to promote awareness of the need to provide food security and
increase the production of food on this planet to keep ahead of the growth of
its population.
2. World Anesthesia Day—promoting the first successful surgery using ether anesthesia on
this day in Boston in 1846.
3. 1963 Number One Song— the number one song in 1963 on
this day on a run of 5 weeks in the position was “Sugar Shack” by Jimmy Gilmer
and the Fireballs. Here is a recording of the song: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-DW8ecqu0Iw.
4. Word of the Day—today’s word of the day is “presbycocious” which means to hardening
of hearing in old age which Medicare in its wisdom does not seem to cover.
5. Block First Shoot Later—celebrating the birthday believed to be this day in 1962 of noted Sudanese-American
basketball player Manute Bol who at 7’7” was one of the tallest players ever to
play in the NBA and the only one to retire after 10 years with more blocked
shots than points. This assimilated and articulate giant died too early on June
19, 2010 when kidney disease blocked him from further life on the planet.
On this day in:
a. 1916 Margaret Sanger founded
her first family planning clinic which would ultimately become the abortion
powerhouse Planned Parenthood.
b. 1964 China joined the nuclear
club by detonating an atomic bomb.
c. 1975
Rahima Banu of Bangladesh was the last known case of naturally occurring smallpox
and recovered.
d. 1991 George Hennard, one very reclusive and hateful
misogynist drove his truck through the front window of a Luby’s Restaurant in
Killeen and proceeded in 12 minutes to kill 23 and wound 27 others, many of
whom were women before engaging in a shootout with police before killing
himself.
e. 1995 the Million Man March (in reality 837,000)
occurred in Washington, D.C.
Reflections from the founder of Planned Parenthood that should shock
and dismay: “I think the greatest
sin in the world is bringing children into the world – that have disease from
their parents, that have no chance in the world to be a human being
practically. Delinquents, prisoners, all sorts of things just marked when
they’re born. That to me is the greatest sin – that people can – can commit.”
Margaret Santer in a 1957 interview with Mike Wallace.
