1. Plimsoil Day—commemorating the efforts of Samuel Plimsoil, a member of the English Parliament who in 1876 was instrumental in improving vessel safety by requiring a line for each boat indicating the maximum level of cargo.
2. National Umbrella Day—whether to protect from the rain or to protect from the Sun’s UV radiation, great item to have handy.
3. 2009 Number One Song—celebrating the number one song on this day in 2009 as part of a 2 week run My Life Would Suck Without You by Kelly Clarkson, the first winner of American Idol and the seller of over 20 million albums—highly appropriate song for Valentines’ Day.
4. National Cream Cheese Brownie Day—celebrating a great snack created by folding cream cheese into brownie batter and baking it.
5. Mummy Dearest—celebrating the birthday on this day in 1906 of the horror film icon, Lon Chaney, Jr. who starred in such films as The Mummy and Frankenstein’s Creature.

b. 1954 President Dwight Eisenhower warned against intervention in Vietnam, a warning which sadly was not heeded by JFK, LBJ and Nixon.
c. 1962 Roy Lichtenstein’s first solo exhibition opened, and it included Look Mickey, which featured his first employment of Ben-Day dots, speech balloons and comic imagery sourcing, all of which he is now known for.d. 1967 the 25th Amendment to the Constitution which provided a procedure to fill a vacancy of the Office of the Vice President and for succession in the event of Presidential disability and was the mechanism used to select Gerald Ford as Vice President following Spiro Agnew’s resignation due to income tax evasion.
e. 2009 in a space is becoming a crowded place moment a U.S. communications satellite Iridium 33 collided with a Russian communications satellite Kosmos 2251, destroying them both.
